Has anyone ever etch there own board? I have just finished my new printer and the 200x200 bed I have just isn't going to cut it. I really need one like around 400x400. I'm parity good at etching so thought this would be a good idea. Any thoughts on this would be great. Power is not a problem, I'm using a 1000 watt psu set up with a solid state relay. Main board is arduino with ramps 1.4.by demongimp - General
I found what was causing the problem in the firmware.by demongimp - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Well after solving many other problems I am now at this one. I am using ramps 1.4 heated bed all on a pruas i3 rework. Problem is when I load the test print 20mm cube and prease print the bed moves all the to the max and the extruder moves al the way to the max witch puts it in the bottom right corner. Now by the way it looks it is not even getting to print the full 20mm , its only around 10by demongimp - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Ok, Thanks I see what you were talking about now. I am going to drill out the holes, cause this board does not look like that, but the conners look good though... Thanks for all the help. I will let you know what happens after drilling out the holes. Demonby demongimp - Controllers
Waitaki, Yes it is solid copper on the bottom. I have tried to connect a ssd relay to it and that just moves the heat problem from the board to the relay it takes about a minute or two and then its to hot to touch. Is there a way to solve the bottom plate and the top plate from touching at the tap point?by demongimp - Controllers
Waitaki, I am using a 1000watt atx psu and yes it has a load on the 5v line. When I turn on the D8 line , I also ran the motors and the hot end just to see if there was a power drop, and it was good. The problem is just when the board is connected to the ramps. I did today connect the heat bed to the psu by its self and it heated up fast and seemed to be fine. I did not leave it on there for aby demongimp - Controllers
Thanks for the replay's. Waitaki, Themistor does read room temps. When I tested it, it is reading 94.2 ohm, ot sure if that is good. I do not have a heat sink on the Mosfet should I have one on it. It has not been getting hot just the fuse. As for wire I am running 14 AWG from ramps to the heat bed. Also when I test the power on ramps D8 I'm getting 11.90 volts to a solid 12 volts. I have alby demongimp - Controllers
Hello! I have been round and round with this heat bed and can not seem to figure it out. I have a MK@a 12v bed connected to ramps 1.4. The thermistor is working I have tested it. When i try the M303 auto temp config, the bed turns on for a few sec and then turns off. The big yellow fuse gets very hot so hot can not touch. I have tested ohm and am getting around 0.9 to 1.0.. I have soldered and unby demongimp - Controllers
Ok, so I have a little news. I finial have been able to get my motor to work. Have almost everything installed on the prusa. I'm finishing up some wiring, to make it look a little better. Then starting getting some test prints going. I have also ran a successful hot end test for my settings and all went well there.by demongimp - General
Also is there another program I can use that does not use python? I seem to be having aproblem with it and its .dll file on windows 8.1by demongimp - General
I have a quick question. Would it be better to set for host software and others in linux or just keep it on windows. So you know I am using win 8.1. I have uninstalled the firm ware and host software, because I think I might have messed it up before. Now I have be looking around on what is and would be the best and easiest set for me, Any thoughts? Thanks!!by demongimp - General
Dust, I am compiling my own. I have sourced all the parts form different places. I have figured out the motor coils and are checking the end stops now. I have been reading that there are alot of people dealing with blow out problems when wiring them wrong. AS far as myPSU the total max amp for all 6 rails is 80 amp, which should be enough, is that not enough.? As for the 42shd0001-24 if theby demongimp - General
Thanks, But he was right. I'm used to posting on forums and should have left more information. Like I said it was late and things just were not going my way..by demongimp - General
Ok< thanks for the info. I do have a fan amend at the ramps board. I will try that and also test the driver.by demongimp - General
I am sorry for not adding the right information that is needed to get the right help. It was late last night and I was a little frustrated. This is a whole new experience for me. Building a PC is one thing, but messing deep into firmware is very new. To give a little on what I have, mega 2560 board, with a ramp 1.4 on top of it. As far as stepper motors I have three that are model number JK42HM48by demongimp - General
Hey peps. So I have been trying to get my ramps working. I have uploaded marlin butnothin really happens. I have tried the m303 thing on the hot end and the red light comes on but the hot end never gets hot. Also my printer is i3 rework singel plate. Hot end is buds v2.0. Also having problems with my stepper motors. The drivers heat up a little but the motors dont move. Well one did but it was veby demongimp - General
OK so I'm new to reprap and have finished building a Prusa i3 rework. I hook up the electronics to test them thing were going good and then i pushed a end stop switch and heard a feint snap sound. Now when i try to connect through pronterface it does not connect. Please help and i sure hope it not as bad as i think it right...by demongimp - General
the fan is not very loud at all. I think it run at like 10 to 15 dbl. Also as far as the 10a rage, i think i have tested this right but i needed to test resistance and then multiply that by the voltage, which is the right when i an getting 14.4. The resistance is at or between 1.1 and 1.2.by demongimp - Mechanics
O sorry I just remembered seeing someone that i think you were talking to and got a little confused. Sorry about that. i am just trying to make sure that i am going to be safe and not burn up the ramps board.by demongimp - Mechanics
Ok Thanks for the reply's. When you say the outer connection that's the one that marked 5v? and the 11v is just for heat bed. bbut i can connect two 12v 30 amp to them? Also im using a atx psu for the power. I had it laying around from my last pc build so what the hack. It is a good psu rated at 1000v and with six 12v rails two of witch are rated at 30amp. there really should be a problem with cby demongimp - Mechanics
Hello I'm new to the reprap 3d printing and getting close to installing the ramps board. My question is on the power is 12v hook to both terminals on the board? If not what are they. Also I have been reading about people using relays with the ramp and the heat bed. I did do a resistance test and I'm getting 1.1-1.2 on the bed. Any and all comments would be helpful..by demongimp - Mechanics
Hello guys. Im new to this forms and working on my first 3d printer. I have been reading many pages on the forms but have not found an answer. So can to different 12v rail be connected to the ramps power connect? I have an extra 1000 watt atx psu just doing nothin from my last pc build and would like to use it. If I can not connect two different rails do I just connect 2 12v lines off the same raby demongimp - General
