I spent the bucks and got an e3dv6. Took me 2 months to source the parts. Don't buy cheap stepper drivers, order some higher amp mosfets if you're heating the bed, made sure you have d1 and 2 diodes. I fried a mosfet and replaced with a higher one (also fried the ams1117 regulator which new ones r on the way) and added a heatsink to it and an electronics fan. A print fan tremendously helps with pby frostin - General
I pieced mine together. You'll need to solder some. I ended up having an extra arduino with ramps 1.4 and another e3dv6 hotend (spares). The most pain in butt for me was measuring my distance travels to calibrate the printer as my markings were coming off because of the lm8uu bearings and changing my acceleration and jerk settings to fine tune it. Other than that it wasn't bad at all and don't chby frostin - General
With the filament I have 200-210. Bed temp 50-60. That's what I got tuned for the pla I have.by frostin - Printing
Thermistor could be an issue.by frostin - Printing
I use this Or you can just put a piece of glass on top of the heat bed. Then put springs in each corner with a washer against the heatbed and carriage. The wiki has some good info. Make sure your 4 corner bolts are long enough to accommodate the bed springs. Hold the glass in place with the clamps you have.by frostin - Reprappers
I have an i3 rework. Just fine tuning it and making my own parts. I recently printed a cooling fan mount for cooling pla. Made a 80mm fan mount to cool the ramps board. Also made a mount for auto bed leveling which I'll tinker with later because my bed is pretty dam level with the aluminum bed I got off ebay. What sux is I forgot to save the settings in marlin when I had to calibrate my steps etcby frostin - Printing
I have an all aluminum frame. Just want to get it a more tidy uppedby frostin - General
I got my aluminum off eBay. Works great. Has machined areas for temp sensor(s).by frostin - Reprappers
Anyone know where to get just this? I want some more support and be able to mount my psu alongside my ramps. Thanks.by frostin - General
A trace is broken on the arduino. It happened to me too.by frostin - Reprappers
You'll need to match the pins accordingly in the firmware if #defining in config.h in the list doesn't work. That makes sense. Have you tried using a basic code (not marlin) to get it to work like "hello world" for example? Here's a link if your pin out is the same: Id try making sure the lcd itself is working by using simple code and the liquid crystal library.by frostin - Reprappers
Do you have the 2 ribbon cables connected correctly to the ramps adapter? What you have in bold is for the sd card (leave it like that for sd support). Enable the lcd itself. // The RepRapDiscount Smart Controller (white PC // #define REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLERby frostin - Reprappers
Take out // So it should be something like #define REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLER. I can't remember what line it is but you should see an area where it tells you about enabling lcds. Not on a computer but I can see this evening.by frostin - Reprappers
What temps do you guys run with your e3dv6 (pla, abs)? And curious on bed temps and the setup on a wades extruder. Got my first print in pla (since I fried my fet for heatbed). Right now my print bed is aluminum.by frostin - Printing
Need to enable it in the config.hby frostin - Reprappers
I'm using a mk2 bed Measured ohm at 1.8 Also does RadioShack or anybody have a replacement fet?by frostin - Reprappers
smoke came a coming (that ive read from others) while trying to run the heated bed. luckily i got a new ramps and arduino coming. from the d8 + pin i checked it back to the psu ground. PSU volts is 12.16. + coming from the d8 pin is 10.55 volts. this is getting frustrating. i had it all calibrated (or started to) then i get smoke ;/.by frostin - Reprappers
Ok thanks a bunch. I did not know that only homing reads endstop position. also my y endstop isn't in front of me its behind the bed. That an issue? Because it says to install that endstop in front of you. And thanks for the info about the x axis endstop. There was some deadspace there and was wondering why it shoulda went there.by frostin - Firmware - mainstream and related support

my wiring to the coils was not correct. solved. now to fine tweak the movementsby frostin - General
ok, I have my vref set to .40v I have these steppers: I cant get the axis' to move good at all. just some grinding noises still. this is what is in config: //// MOVEMENT SETTINGS #define NUM_AXIS 4 // The axis order in all axis related arrays is X, Y, Z, E #define HOMING_FEEDRATE {50*60, 50*60, 4*60, 0} // set the homing speeds (mm/min) // default settings #define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNITby frostin - General
you guys still around? I was in radioshack and a fella mentioned a group in Tulsa. I live in Owasso.by frostin - RepRap User Group - Tulsa, OK
Ok. Thanks. I'll look. This is in the config.h file correct? Come to find out I got the wrong couplings. They are 5x8 not 5x5. No biggy. I'll order some and in the meantime I'll use flex hose for the 5mm rod.by frostin - General
Finished building my i3 rework this weekend. First issue My motors are having a grinding noise and I don't know why. 2nd issue my extruder motor isn't working. I have noticed while sliding the axis's that they move not as smooth as I'd like. So far I loosened the x axis nuts to re adjust and nothing. It still slides the same. I've checked voltage from psu and am reading 12.3 volts. Checked my cby frostin - General
I went with e3d. rest of parts be here tom/sat. and prob a trip to radioshack. should be coming along soon this weekend.by frostin - Reprappers
it looks neato. I was thinking glass on bed but I saw this. I was going to print on aluminum.by frostin - Reprappers
Hey guys, I'm fixing to order the parts needed for an aluminum rework build. 2 questions: has anyone use this or am I better off doig something else? question 2: I'm goig to order a e3d v6 from filastruder and use wades extruder. am I going to have any issues? bee searching and searching on the net to get my cart filled Thanks a bunchby frostin - Reprappers
