Hi Enrique Thanks again for the changes, I am slowly improving quality of the object produced. I am using hop as it seems to help with my extruder. One thing I have noticed. When you stop extruding and go into the delay loops for cooling the movement there does not retract vertically (I have Hop angle 90) as hop does. The code has the Z with the first X & Y movement which takes the extruderby emt - RepRap Host
I have a little experience of writing DOS bat install file so I would be interested in trying to replicate the shell script. My problem is I probably would not understand the shell script and I know little about Java but I would be willing to have a go. Maybe just one line at a time to start with if someone would help with explaining the shell script action in words.by emt - RepRap Host
Hi I have run into a problem with Arduino and variable size as I am using micro stepping drives. I understand the firmware at the moment uses Integers storage, and stores a 2 byte value. This yields a range of -32,768 to 32,767 (minimum value of -2^15 and a maximum value of (2^15) - 1). I understand there is a plan to increase the variable size in the future but that both the host and firmby emt - General
Hi David You say at least for linux. Is windows generally a problem with Java?by emt - RepRap Host
Hi Enrique It would not affect me at the moment if there was only 1 Temperature Change Time before Next Threads. However in view of the suggestion of having selective feed rate and temperatures in another tool maybe that would be better if it is possible. One thing has always puzzled me. Why do you use movements without the extruder for delays rather than G4 Pnn where nn is delay usually in secby emt - RepRap Host
Hi Enrique I have change time of Raft 0 because my machine does not move until extruder reaches temperature. I have first layer outline set to say 120 to allow raft to cool as it is done at a higher temperature. Then first layer within and next layers can be the same maybe 30 seconds only so all build (object) layers (not raft) have the same delay between them. Support layers I have not usedby emt - RepRap Host
Hi Enrique I find the change time after the raft is built needs to be longer than the build layers. The delay between each build layers I always have the same.by emt - RepRap Host
Hi Enrique Sorry to advise that the new Raft Preferences window is too long for my screen and I can't reach the save buttons. For the moment I am editing the file. Any chance of making it shorter & wider to accommodate the new controls.by emt - RepRap Host
Hi Enrique Thanks again, I am now controlling feed rate OK. I am slowly getting better & better results as I begin to understand the various functions. I am trying to produce the mug. I noticed one strange thing. I was getting 2 extrusion paths round the mug as I expected and then I got one path round the mug with the extruder off. What puzzles me is the fact that the path with the extruderby emt - RepRap Host
Hi Enrique Within minutes of my last post I realised what was controlling the feedrate. I still don't see what setting makes the Raft so much slower. With the material I am using CAPA it seems the raft and object should be at a similar speed.by emt - RepRap Host
Hi Enrique I now understand the temperature change and have made my first part. There are still a couple of puzzles in the set up. I am getting raft at F480 but the job sets the feed to F960 which is way to fast on my machine. I had to edit the Gcode to get a result. What sets the feed rates? I have been through all the preferences but I am obviously missing something. Also the help file forby emt - RepRap Host
Hi Sid 2 sides to this. So called naive users often can help in the test process by their naivety. Developers sometimes lose sight of the fact that things that are second nature to them are not at all obvious to new users and that can make some software hard to use. Also I haven't seen much evidence of too much "why is this and that not like that and those?" Too much "why isn't ... working yeby emt - RepRap Host
Many thanks. That fixed the error message. However I still have the real problem outlined earlier in that my Bot Console has a number of buttons missing and I have no idea why. Any clues anybody?by emt - RepRap Host
Hi I use Windows XP I have been using Eclipse and getting the latest version of the host from the repository. I confess I understand little of what I am doing as I am just following some helpful information in the forum parrot fashion and up until recently all seemed well. The JRE system library is jre1.5.0_15 I have just checked out the latest version and thought that every thing was OK aparby emt - RepRap Host
Hi Enrique Many thank for adding the file extension parameter which speeds up the process. I still have one query on the times set in Raft. If I change all the temperature change times to zero I still get a lot of round and round movements without extrusion. I thought maybe zero is ignored so I tried .1 of a second but I still get a lot of moves that take a lot longer than .1 of a second. Thesby emt - RepRap Host
Hi David You say:- "Download the jar from swing-layout.dev.java.net and include it in your classpath" Can you give a link to the actual Jar file as I could not locate it. Probably can't see the wood for the trees.by emt - RepRap Host
Hi Enrique. That explains the round & round. It may not be required. On my machine I had to create the M functions and I use feed back. When a M104 is actioned the G code programme waits for a temperature achieved signal back from the interface before it moves onto the next line of programme. I don't know if Nophead and Brendan have done the same thing. If they have the round and round justby emt - RepRap Host
Hi Enrique Today I tried my first job. I don't know if I have something wrong with my preferences but the code generated seems to go round and round the perimeter of the job and the raft many many times. The sequence is first it moves round the perimeter of the job many times without extruder. The extruder comes on and builds the first layer of the raft. Then it goes many times round the raft pby emt - RepRap Host
Thanks Enrique I want to use Mach3 and Windows to run G code from Skeinforge. I had a hold up as Mach3 had some issues running M function macros which are now largely resolved so I am back testing. I have a couple of things I would like to know. The first is how to change the suffix of generated code to ??.AGC instead of ??.gcode. Secondly what is controlling the temperature that is output? Hi Which operating system Windows or Linux? Which firmware version? Arduino version 011 generates warnings on first compile but still compiles without errors. I get no warnings on subsequent compiles. Arduino version 012 generates an error message both for me using Widows and another user using Linux so I would stick to version 011 for the time being.by emt - Controllers
Arduino release 012 was upgraded to avr-libc6. Therefore release 011 uses an earlier libc but I have not found a reference to which version. Was there a libc5? If so I guess that's what is in 011.by emt - RepRap Host
You add the firmware libraries to the existing Arduino hardware libraries. Be aware that to force a recompile of any changes made to files in the libraries you must delete the object file in the library. My procedure:- Just tested successfully on clean PC. Fresh Install Arduino version 011 software. Copy sub directories in reprap-arduino-firmware-1.3/library directory to Arduino hardware/libby emt - RepRap Host
Hi Following the instructions here at which point do you have a problem?by emt - RepRap Host
Jajo Start a new thread in the software section. Try to make the subject relevant (ie NOT "my system does not work") List all the information on your set up (Windows/Linux) State which Host software version. State which firmware version. State clearly your problem. Post any error messages you see.by emt - General
Linux or Windows? How are you sending commands? The arduino is reset every time the comm port closes and opens. I only know about windows. I debug using terminal to send commands and check response. I know the response from the firmware is different in some versions. I think it is "ok" in the latest versionby emt - RepRap Host
Hi Andy Open ThermoplastExtruder.cpp with an editor Check the name of the thermistor table include file. In the latest firmware I think it is #include "TemperatureSensor.h" but in the version you have it may be "ThermistorTable.h" Close the file. Identify the thermistor file you need for your thermistor e.g. Thermistor_r0_100000_t0_25_r1_0_r2_4700_beta_3960.h Open in an editor Save as Therby emt - RepRap Host
