hey, thanks I'm using repetier and beyond the odd tweak here and there in config i've not really looked into the code. No idea how to swap it over to the second extruder port.by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
2nd Update, tried the other stepper driver, didnt work. either I cant use different drivers or the board is screwed.by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
Update: Swapped the motor wires around with the Y axis stepper and the motor is working fine. So im guessing its the stepper motor, does it matter if they are the same model?by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
ok, I was printing some 3D letteringand all of a sudden, the extruder stopped working. The motor didnt seem to have enough power to turn. It wasnt a blocked nozzle as I could easily push filament through, so I knocked the printer off, turned up the stepper driver a little to see if that would help then turned it back on. Sparks flew from the back of the RAMPS board (the side with the USB and Powerby muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants

Would a rasberry Pi work better? There is no extender. It has worked fine using windows and PC for the past 6 month... this just came out of the blue.by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
This problem seems to be completely random. sometimes it happens within seconds of my print, sometimes the printer doesnt need to have printed and sometimes (most annoyingly) 6 hours into a 6 and a half hour print! Basically the printer is happy and printing, then I get "Communication timeout - reset send buffer block" in my log on repetier host. The printer stops moving (but the heaters stay oby muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
i've done that calibration many many times. its definatly 20x20by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
I have a perfectly callibrated (x, y and z axis and extruder) prusa i3 variant and all of my prints come out great, however If I print out something that is supposed to join together with something else, they dont fit together, the parts wont go. This guitar and sword for example: it happens with everything, even if I printed a modular tool holder set or a bottle and cap. the parts wouldn't fby muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
OK, i have no idea G32 S2 to map points... it turns, but only to the left so it is constantly rising very slightly... Im almost ready to throw the sensor in the bin and go back to mechanical. Is there anyone out there who knows what is going on?! (To the left meaning the motors are turning clockwise) on another inspection if the extruder moves back and forth along the same line over and over, itby muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
ok, i've updated my firmware and changed every setting under the sun but I cant seem to find a way to use autolevel to level my bed properly. I use RAMPS 1.4 and an inductive sensor as an autolevel probe. In repetier I can only seem to find the option to check 3 points on the bed, which are set as Front left corner, Front right corner and then Back left corner. When printing, the left side of thby muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
i've finally managed to get the sensor and axis' working, yet the left side of the bed is still being printed slightly closer than the right side of the bed... the difference between printing and not printing infact. autolevelling is new to me. any help?by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
The problem I have found is that when I turn on "Invert enable signal (Z_ENABLE_ON)" the Z axis is not responding at all. the reason i have turned that on is because the z axis only moves while my sensor is activated (so i need to invert the enable signal right?) all other axis' move fine. any ideas?by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
I've been running repetier firmware for the past 6 months now and i've had very few problems. I bought an inductive sensor today in order to add autolevelling to my printer. I proceeded to run through the repetier config tool using my old config file for reference and my new calibration settings on hand. long story short, I went through the z probe points and updated the firmware and now my priby muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
I normally print in PLA due to ease of printing and lack of fumes, would it be ok to print the prusa i2 plastic parts (including extruder parts) in PLA or would the heat melt the PLA while printing with it?by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
Ah, interesting. I've only ever looked at I3's as with them being a newer version, I assumed it was better. Is there much difference in print quality and reliability between the two? i'm running an I3 atm, but I want to build a backup.by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
Are there any plans and printed parts to make a steel rod frame for a prusa I3? I don't have access to anyone with a cnc to make a frame and the prices on ebay are huge, I do however have access to very cheap smooth and threaded rods (M8/M10) I have seen pictures of these before but I can't seem to find any plans or parts.by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
I could lick the motor if I wanted to haha. The heat is fine. I "Think" i've found the problem... but this is just a guess at the moment, it has worked for one 2 and a half hour print. Basically the X endstop may be malfunctioning (maybe the wire has come loose or a connection somewhere just isnt quite right. Maybe I just need a new one. The signal from the malfunctioning endstop is trigerring tby muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
I've not got an SD chip on my RAMPS, but i tried a different USB lead and it made no difference.by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants

Via PC, using Repetier host. 4.5Ghz AMD 6300 Six Core 8GB DDR3 RAM AMD HD7700 series graphics card. nothing else running other than maybe watching a video every now and again. and its skipping when nothing else is running too.by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
the printer has been running for around 6 months and i've not seen this problem before.by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
The driver has two fans on. one intake and one out take into the box i printed. the intake is directly over the drivers. im currently running at 70% speed and its still skipping. not on the same layer either. Currently printing each letter seperatly now to minimize losing prints as i have orders to fill. it fails around one in every 3 prints (40 mins print time at 70 percent speed)by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
OK, i have now took the entire x carriage apart and back together... it still jumps. here are my prints for a 2 hour print last night. The jump is ALWAYS to the right. the belt is tight, the motor is running fine. I'm baffled.by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
It's back. i'm almost about to get a hammer.by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
put oil on the z rod. worked a charm.by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
I added a small drop of glue to the wingnut and it seems to be working. this will do the trick until i can get my hands on some nylocks. thanks guys.by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
i broke it down again (basically rebuild the entire carriage and extruder and it seems to have fixed. I think it was an excess of oil building up in the bearings. If not i'll update this when it does it again.by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants

the wing nuts that allow me to level my heatbed keep coming undone due to the vibrations that the printer gives off... messing up the level of the bed. is there any way to stop this?by muntahunta - Prusa i3 and variants
