Running 2 China clone E3D v6's, 1.75mm PLA no ptfe in the heatbreaks, so still all metal even though its a clone. Only had a consistent jamming problem twice, once it ended up being a physical containment larger than my nozzle diameter the other was testing my new extruder I designed, All I had to do was up the voltage and tighten the tension-er, I have all kinds of torque, could allow me to poby DaGameFace - General
^^^^ Carbon fiber filament sounds cool but i bet it wrecks nozzles I bought some water soluble PVA at $33 for .5kg, works really well as support material.by DaGameFace - General
So, I did my first print with PVA dissolving filament as support matterial (my dual extruder setup is working pretty well, and designed it myself). The print was of a 1:100 JgPzIV WWII German tank destroyer, and looks really good. The problem being that there is discoloration in the print which by the looks of it was caused by the PVA. Anyone know if this is normal if not how to remove it? I cby DaGameFace - General
[email protected] Hi My nozzle temp just keeps increasing until MAXTEMP error occurs. I have tried the firmware changes. Should I change the thermistor? I have set the sensor type to 1. Is this OK? Thanks That is probably a bad connection on your MOFSETby DaGameFace - General
i will post if you really want, but the two main things are these lines: \\these change your board to recognize it has two hotends and a heated bed rather than a hotend, a fan and a bed #ifndef MOTHERBOARD #define MOTHERBOARD BOARD_RAMPS_14_EEB \\simple stating you have two hooked up #define EXTRUDERS 2 \\the distance between your two nozzles, in my case its 30 mm on the x axis, the first exby DaGameFace - General
So, I finished designing, printing, assenbling, and firmware tweaking. My dual extruder printer is finally ready to go. So, now what? I use Simplify3D and I only see places to change which extruder prints things like: raft, perimeter, infill, support material. How do you do two color printing on one part such as dice and many other cool two color prints?by DaGameFace - General
he sent me a PM. the following is for everyone else to see: From him: " Tinkusharma I haven't done with steps per unit. But it stops when it hits the switch. The main problem is why it is only going with 10 rotation when push the z home. Advise me about the same. Thank you very much. " My response: " DaGameFace if you have not configured your steps per mm then it mayby DaGameFace - General
Are you sure that your steps per mm are set correctly? Is the problem that it stops before hitting the z axis switch or that it doesnt stop when it does hit the switch?by DaGameFace - General
you could have corrupted your firmware, could try re flashing it edit: someone already said that..by DaGameFace - General
I have been toying with the idea of converting a replicator 2x to a reprap based machine, But i only have experience with arduino ramps controller which is only 12v power. The 2x has 24v power, and I would rather not change the power supply. So the requirements for the board would be: 24v power Capable of a dual extruder preferably marlin compatible I dont know what to look for in a good controby DaGameFace - General
WORKS! thank you! I have my two e3d hot end fans harwired to the 12v rail on my atx, dont plan on a print cooling fan for a bit, going to wait till i have this dual extruder thing figured out. Also i print from sd so host compatibility doesnt matterby DaGameFace - General
While testing with my printer to find out why my thermals where being weird I had disabled thermal runaway protection, (I WAS KEEPING AN EYE ON IT DO NOT RECOMMEND) and had been running fine with for about an hour, when suddenly the flashing indicator light for the hotend went solid, and sure enough the temp rose fast and dramatically reaching 300C in no time. i quickly shut down the printer. Are you sure your repetier client is working correctly? Would try communicating with the printer directly through cura or some other program just as another check. I've also had failed firmware flashes if my usb chord runs too close the the printer power chords.by DaGameFace - General
1.1.0 RC3 Marlin, sorry, thought i had that in my signatureby DaGameFace - General
(Printer details in signature) So, I designed and built my own dual extruder assembly, seemss to work pretty well when testing using one nozzle. Now I am trying to get both hot ends to work, to do so I read that defining your motherboard as board 36 and editing the line that says number of extruders to 2 instead of 1 should do it. But now even though the printer thinks it has a heated bed, it reby DaGameFace - General
do you have microstepping enabled? i ran my printer with 0 microstepping for a little while and it was really loudby DaGameFace - Reprappers

I fried my 5 v regulator on my arduino and replaced it with a line from the 5v rail on my PSU. Works greatby DaGameFace - Printing
The clicking is the extruder trying to push filament and not having enough torque to do so. This can be caused by your steps per mm on your extruder to be calibrated wrong, your idler spring set too tight or not enough voltage to the stepper itself. There are many guides on calibrating extruder steps per mm, but to start you may try halving your current value. A thought occurs to me, do you haveby DaGameFace - Printing

QuoteEdvardas Weird looking gears are probably herringbone ones. They are supposed to decrease backlash. That never worked to me up to the point I would be satisfied. So I went with a closed loop GT2 belt and 16T and 60T pulleys (not printed). This gave me a ratio of 1:3.75; I am very happy with this and would recommend you going this route. Filing a flat spot on the 5mm rod was easy. Yes herrby DaGameFace - General
okay, so i want to make a 4:1 or maybe 5:1 gear ratio from a nema 11 to a 5mm rod. im thinking of doing this with 3d printed gears with set screws and file a flat spot on the 5mm smooth rod in a bowden esq looking manor. But i now think that planetary gears could be another option (perhaps a better option). So for designing these i was planning on doing it myself unless i find a good solution oby DaGameFace - General
check the solder joints on the mofsets are okay, once had one solder joint go bad right in front of me, the temp climbed untill i shut the printer off (had disabled thermal runaway while testing some things)by DaGameFace - Printing
If you enter a positive let's say 10, then when it homes that spot will be 10. So in your case telling it.127 would let it know it's actual height. Though I solve this particular problem with a start getting code that tells it to go to.2 for my first layer G1 Z.2 300by DaGameFace - General
I had a freeze that would not resume caused by overheated stepper drivers Try feeling the heat sink on each driver when it freezes, if one is noticeably warmer try turn down the voltage on itby DaGameFace - General

I have a v6 clone, VERY Happy with it, sense I attached it's cooling fan directly to a 12v rail on my psu I haven't had a clog. The clone I got was 1.75 with no ptfe in the threaded rod thoughby DaGameFace - General New Machines Topics
