I've used the plates as well as individual objects, and if you have an automated build platform you might as well use it for the single part at a time kind of prints. And yes, ABS body and PLA bushings is a good way to do that.by PhantomAGN - General
Ordered parts not even a week ago, received them today, testing tomorrow. Service above and beyond expectations, with prices to match. Thanks! --Edit: Worked first try, totally painlessly. The Hybrid is the true king of PLA.by PhantomAGN - For Sale
Ok, I got a box, got the parts, and got a price point quote! $10 parts, $4.85 shipping. Just like I thought originally, it's about $15 total. Well, Ebay sure is nice, but it costs money to list things. I'd rather see one organized place to list things for the reprap/3d printer market than a million different ebay stores and websites (which is kinda what we have now).by PhantomAGN - For Sale
I pulled out a batch of plastic parts today, and I now have about nine sets of the makerbot-designed MK-4 plastruder. I think the lowest alternative price is $21 is that right? I need to maximize profits, as we seem to have only one week of laser cutting time remaining. What price would YOU pay for the plastic in a MK-4 motor block? I'll probably be selling through PayPal and I need to calculateby PhantomAGN - For Sale
I'm in the same boat, having bought thermistors I am not sure how to use after all. Maybe I should have verified they were the same first.by PhantomAGN - General
Seattle, Washington. As I'm the only one with a printer at the moment we don't do much meeting outside our club, though I keep meaning to go to the Metrix. We're barely functioning as a club this month on account of schoolwork and laziness, though that should change sometime soon when work lets up a bit. The techzone lasercut mendel is neat, though it requires quite a bit of post-proccessing andby PhantomAGN - For Sale
Hey all! My school club has: A A 45W laser cutter B Nearly infinite scrap plastic by donation We're wondering if we could sell something easy to mass-produce for cheap, and fund the purchase of more reprap electronics and metal components. We're building a large repstrap, and it'll be able to print someday soon, so funding the rest of whatever we can print (mendels probably) is a big issue. Ifby PhantomAGN - For Sale
I've converted the files to svg using the coreldraw demo, and I will post them on the wiki page.by PhantomAGN - General Mendel Topics
This is a very long-term topic bump, and for that I apologize. I've worked out what this issue is and how to "solve" it, and put that on the wiki.by PhantomAGN - RepRap Host
Ok, nobody else bypass the regulator. I have not attached any capacitors yet. Capacitor 6 has exploded on my more troublesome board, and I am worried that this may be the cause. It also puts more stress on my senior project, due in one week.by PhantomAGN - Controllers
So, I should go find some small (sub-1uF) capacitors, and put them between PSU and each board. Like this? PSU | |--- cap - board 1 --- GND |--- cap - board 2 --- GND |--- cap - board 3 --- GND | +5vby PhantomAGN - Controllers
Ok, I'm a novice and am not sure how exactly to implement that (luckily, I bought extra 50v 100uF capacitors), but I get the idea that Noise = very bad. How bad is "very bad?" Chip-killing bad? I have four of these big 100uF capacitors on-hand, and possibly more of other types one I can get to my school's supplies. Wire braiding I can do! (5v and GND, but ignore the 12v and other GND, or all?)by PhantomAGN - Controllers
So, for my CupCakeStrap I ordered all the components from mouser and digikey and hand made them. Now, being "smart," I ordered a different 5v Linear regulator... it regulates a negative current, and not a positive one. Whoops. I blew up one SMD2.3 with it (pretty sparks and smoke!). I happen to have a SMD1.2, so I'm still ok - I just attached a fan to it and it works fine for Z. Now, I would likby PhantomAGN - Controllers
Yo! I'm leading a club at Roosevelt High School in building a Rep(st)Rap headcrab for a large mill we happen to have, and simultaneously building a makerbot from scratch as my senior project. I'm really interested in seeing where this project will go.by PhantomAGN - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
IT'S BEEN A MILLION YEARS Since I last posted. Really. In these last months we've finished the electronics, nearly interfaced with the ProLight CNC Mill, and completed the physical body of the headcrab-like machine. There's quite a bit left though, including extruders, testing, and getting club members familiar with the software for running repraps. I'm really sorry about leaving you in the daby PhantomAGN - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
If we can help get you started, we will! We're having a bit of trouble organizing during the break, but I think we should be back meeting in an orderly fashion soon. I'm not able to say for sure, but here's a tentative invitation to friday of two-weeks-from-now. I'll let the others know for now, and hopefully have a proper meeting. We still intend to sell acrylic parts, though our focus recentlby PhantomAGN - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
Well, this thread has been dead FAR too long, so much has happened that keeping this silent would be foolish. In the last months we have pulled together something that might, when the switch is thrown this friday, be able to print stuff! The details are a secret until we can post the completed thing, but let me say that I now am very good at designing flat things to cut out and bolt together. Thank you very much, looks like my club might have a field tripby PhantomAGN - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
Awesome! Yes, that's correct, I think I met you there even. I was really impressed with the lab! Ceramic printing looks interesting as well. My teacher, Mr Ruff, mentioned that he wanted to make a trip actually, so it seems easy to get consent for that. I'll speak with him tomorrow, and report back afterwards. I'm sure the rest of the club would love to visit, as they have not (I believe so anywby PhantomAGN - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
Great Ryan. I assigned every club member the homework of going here, joining, and posting. We've made progress, with Fred's help we are moving forward with our plan to do a new extruder model. We also received most of our electronics and I am currently soldering the sanguino board together.by PhantomAGN - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
Yet another great and productive day! Thank you, Fred, for your good idea of putting our milling robot to use with an extruder head! We are temporarily pausing construction of our repstrap's ponoko body, and jumping into the extruder head building. The electronics we need are being ordered (or will be soon), and we have another new member to add even more power. We plan to eventually be a Hub fby PhantomAGN - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
That's a to-do list item actually, as so far I only looked at what home depot has closest to me. However, while I do not remember any specifics, I think they had all that is needed for making our design (thickness is the major concern). I pulled this from my history, I hope it is useful to you:by PhantomAGN - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
Ideally, all we need are plans in PDF form for cutting, that fit in 12x24 (width by height). If the parts in question are in fact the same as ours, it is even more easy, as we can just make another set. The plastic supply itself is the only really hard thing to determine. I will get back to you when I know.by PhantomAGN - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
Roosevelt High School in Ravenna has a fledgling project (very much so), but we would like to be helpful members of the community if we can. We are working on constructing an acrylic resptrap as an after-school project.by PhantomAGN - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
Sadly, nothing happened on friday as our instructor's car broke down and he could not oversee the meeting. We had a a productive day planned as well, so it was a sudden and sad occurrence. But we are not beaten by any means, and by this coming Friday we ought to have the rest of our parts cut out. Also, an update to our offer of cutting is in order I think. We are not exactly running low on acby PhantomAGN - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
we made significant progress! Our school blocked me from posting from there, but we were able to cut the p2 9mm Bed, the p2 5mm parts, and began work for the others! I just exported the rearranged SVGs as PDFs... and printed with Adobe Reader. Works perfectly, I am kicking myself for not doing that a while ago. We have an Epilog Mini, it is on the local network that our lab's computers are on. We print to it as we would any other printer, except there are two "printers," one for vector and one for raster. I would have used a different non-retarded computer if I was allowed to, but the computer rules specifically ban the use of non-school computers. This is because we are covered by BESS, an evil blockby PhantomAGN - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
Thank you very much for that list, it is indeed the correct one. I think I will ask my teammate for the list, and berate him when he does not show anything for his time. (Not gonna do that actually) Our biggest problem I think is organization, I can't hold every job in my head. I'll make a checklist perhaps.by PhantomAGN - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
To make progress, we need list of non-acrylic parts that we need to buy (this was "assigned" to a teammate, who has not done much since). Ideally, this would be in a kit for order, though I don't know how much money we have to work with, which is the next thing we need to know (which I am going to make the main point of Tuesday's meeting).
