Thanks for your response. What I really need is for the Repetier user interface to show 2 temperatures and control 2 heaters per extruder.by WallyL - Repetier

I installed the Smoothie driver, setup the config.txt on the SD card, setup the COM port and it worked, no problem. It seems to me to work better than the RAMPS board I had (it came with my Velleman K8200, but the USB port broke off) and Marlin firmware. There are still a few problems, which I am working on, such as: 1 Getting the extruder retraction to work correctly 2 The estimated print timby WallyL - Repetier

I recently re-commissioned my printer (after being out of action for about 5 months) with a Speedy board - a South African Smoothie clone and am very happy with it. It has 4 high power MOSFET outputs and 2 low power ones - see www.black-box.co.za I am also using a pellet extruder (which I made) using a normal hot-end heater cartridge on the nozzle, but also needs a heater on the barrel. The endcode is: M109 S100 ; extruder standby temperature M104 S10 ; bed standby temperature G1 Y200 F1800 ; park at end of job M106 S254 ; fan on M84 ; disable motors It is clearly visible in the Preview GCode, but the printer just stops at the end of the print; it will do nothing until I press the Reset button on the controller board. I even tried it with no End Gcode, it makes no differenby WallyL - Printing
Hi, A while ago my Velleman K8200 suddenly started doing something strange: at the end of a print, it simply stops with the nozzle still in contact with the last layer. It does not execute the End Gcode and will not respond to the manual control until the reset button on the board is pressed. What could be the cause? What is the solution? Any suggestions will be welcome! Wallyby WallyL - Printing
The problem was that the Z would lift every time the extruded retracted (even with manual retract), but would not go down again on unretract Eventually, the problem was solved by sending M207 S0 Z0 & M208 S0 Z0 manually. There must have been a value stored for Z, probably when killing a print, which was cleared this way. Hope that this will be useful to someone. Wallyby WallyL - Printing
Eventually I got the retraction to work, by uncommenting the FWRETRACT in Configuration_adv.h (followed ), only to discover that the z-axis lifts on every retraction of the extruder, even in mid-layer! I cannot find the cause of this or how to correct it, any suggestions? I have tried sending M207 S0, but it does not help. Wallyby WallyL - Printing
Hi, Can someone please help me to get the firmware retract to work. I have a Velleman K8200, running Marlin V1, Repetier V1.0.6, Slic3r 1.1.7 and want to use the Firmware Retraction. I have sent M207 S1 F25 and M209 S F25 to set up the retract/unretract. The gcode correctly has the G10 Retract and G11 Unretract, but I get no response. Any suggestions? Wallyby WallyL - Printing
Hi, I am very interested in what you are doing; you may want to look at what we are doing, see [3dprint.com] Hans Fouche & I are partners, together with Kobus van der Walt. I have made pellet extruders for Hans with a 3mm nozzle, putting down 0,5kg/hr and am experimenting with one on a Velleman K8200 (a re-badged 3Drag). Pellet extruders are the way to go, especially for larger nozzle sby WallyL - Mechanics
No, it is considered good design practice. It is called the "hunting tooth" principle. This ensures that all the teeth on both gears engage with each other regularly. For example, if a 10 tooth pinion meshes with a 40 tooth gear, then each tooth on the pinion will mesh with every 4th tooth on the gear, every time. With a hunting tooth, small variations in manufacture are evened out in the beddinby WallyL - Mechanics
Hi, I recently purchased a RepRap Power Expander to use on my new Velleman K8200 3d Printer. It was wired up exactly as per the Ultimaker 3D printer example given in , but burnt out the first time it was used. Very disappointing. It was supplied with 22V dc from a new MeanWell power supply; the bed resistance is 4,8 Ohm at 10 deg C. The control voltage from the Velleman board is 14,95 V dc, wiby WallyL - General
