I've been trying to work it out for a month or two now, but I still haven't an idea of what to get for the electronics. the rrrf site has the arduino raw kit. But it needs kit parts and an arduino from another site right? The other kits on the site seem to have all the other electronics parts included (stuff like resisters etc). Have I missed something, because I feel lost. PS. I'm waiting for Bby letsburn00 - Controllers
Interestingly, I've heard about people defining energy as instead of "kw used by a person" on average into "slaves per person" Which is essentially how many slaves you would need to do all the work we currently use machines and electricity etc to do. ie if I was to go around with as much lighting as I need, get hot water and do my washing with very little work from me and all the other stuff thatby letsburn00 - General
As far as I can tell, you can buy the arduino kit,the other pcb kit stuff and the steppers/motor from Zach and the mechanical parts from BfB(as a full kit, I think that the gold and silver are the cheapest sets that don't need any more work. Everything else is just very basic stuff for the electronics you can get from anywhere. that is enough right, since the BOM is really confusing given it doesby letsburn00 - Reprappers
I'm just going to leave a message here calling for any other perthians to message me at letsburn00@hotmail.com . I'm beginning my reprap within the next few months and would be happy to work with anyone else (especially someone with electronics experience)by letsburn00 - Australia, Perth RepRap User Group
Just commenting for a group here in Perth, Australia. We're on the opposite side of the country from the sydney group and I'm interested in getting started.by letsburn00 - Australia, Perth RepRap User Group
I've written up an excel file (also in .ods for Ubunto folk ) which has probably 80% of the parts listed as "component" for buying from dick smith electronics. Some of the stuff I'm not sure about, so don't take my word that these are the exact correct matching parts. Hope this will help.by letsburn00 - Reprappers
Great work. I'm in Australia, so most of the suppliers are harder to get access to, but this will make it all much easier to keep track of. Now I can start buying parts section by section from this. If you want, I can go through the list and try to find analogous numbers for Dick smith electronics stores(one of the minor suppliers listed) when I buy them here. They prob won't be that helpful forby letsburn00 - Reprappers
The idea of embedding low temperature solder is a part of the plan from memory. There was a guy in the 40's who worked it out and developed a radio which was made from injecting some type of solder into a Bakelite base blank template. It's referenced somewhere on the site (or maybe on wikipedia). I think that the main advantage of the system for useful things will come with the development and mby letsburn00 - General
I think the analogy that was made to the Altair is probably the most correct analogy, assuming that this all is a success. When I think about why I'm interested in this, I can only say stuff that sounds like Steve Wozniak explaining why he wanted an Altair to own(I remember him saying people asked him what you can do with a computer, he would say that that was completely the wrong sort of questioby letsburn00 - General
I was thinking that in the later developments of extruder, namely when it is capable of relatively fine working. It might be considered when it doesn't cause problems to parts to simply allow another signature layer to be placed on a part. This most likely would be something like a coded that served like a serial number(or possibly a "surname" of your machine) that you might attach to a part thatby letsburn00 - General
Sounds interesting, might get long though. But if there was some sort of code method to do it, it would be cool to trace eir geneality (and get bragging rights to owning "direct lineages"). Although since over time each machine will probably end up being rebuilt completely as parts that fail are replaced by a stock of parts that have been made for use in self repair. So at what point would a reprby letsburn00 - General
