I got it!!!!!!!!! After 1 week of google and reverse engineering the marlin code I've got it!
If you want to enable your selfmade LCD with rotary encoder you have to:
- enable ULTRA_LCD
- enable NEWPANEL
- enable SDSUPPORT
- enable ULTIPANEL
- enable REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLER
=> This makes absolutely no sense to me but these settings have dependencies on each other. Even if you don't

Firmware - mainstream and related support
Hi,
I'm using Marlin 1.0.2 on an Arduino Mega with Ramps 1.4 and bought a 2004a LCD and a rotary encoder (no controller board).
I can't get the rotary encoder to work, just the LCD....I soldered everything like the RepRapDiscount Smart Controller. If I look in pins.h, there is:
#ifdef ULTRA_LCD
#ifdef NEWPANEL
#define LCD_PINS_RS 16
#define LCD_PINS_ENABLE 17
#define

You saved my weekend!!!!!! Yes, I was building my printer with an instructable and this person used a little other configuration (I think it was a dev version) so I had to download the latest stable and merge them.
Thank you so much, everything is working now!!! Shame on me!

I thought this, too...but then there is my endstop test program which shows that everything is fine...

Hi,
I'm building a new printer with an Arduino Mega & RAMPS 1.4 - I'm ready to test everything and my first test drives me crazy!
The state of my endstops are weird...nothing is connected to my ramps except power source and the endstops. The endstops are connected with C and NO.
If I send M119 (10 or more times quickly after each other) this is what I'll get:
x_min: open
y_min: triggered

Yep...I've tried again and again - and this trick saved my live in printing!!!!
I am now be able to print as long as I want to....so I will design a two-fan-holder (because I raped my stock Printrbot fan to cool my PEEK) and post it here + on Thingiverse.com (one fan for the PEEK, one fan for the usually printed object).
Thank you again Ohmarinus, you were the only one to clear this "abstract

I'm sorry I didn't trust your answer.....I think you are god for me :-D
Now I was able to print 2 models...I have to test it for this evening but I think this was the correct failure!!!
So many thanks!!!

That's not the problem - I'm on 0.3mm since I got that printer...

DAMN! And again :-( I thought I have found the failure........but it happens again! And now immediately at layer 2 or 3 :-(
What can I do???

Looks almost like mine - there is a kink...
I think i solved this problem (again) !
At my first print a few weeks ago I had the same problem - this was because I had not enough space between the noozle and the heated bed. I fixed this and everything works fine.
Until now - But this time it was much simpler to fix! I fixed all problems and were printing all the time - and this was the failure!

Hi,
Does your filament look like this when you pull it out of the extruder?
I think we have the same problem here...

Hi,
the upper part? I have a fan on my printer...but I thought it is good that it melts on that stage (better early than too late). I thought it can't melt so fast how the bolt is putting in more filament.
Do I have to print with lower temps like 180 degrees? Or will a fan in the above area do its job?
But I don't understand why one day the same object come out clean and a few hours later the fi

Hi,
I'm new to 3d printing and have a Printrbot LC+ V2.
After complete calibration (reprap wiki tutorial) I used to print good things!
But sometimes the printer stops extruding. When I pull out the filament it looks like it couldn't melt for the speed it's going in.
Please see the attached file.
I've tried some options like higher temp/lower temp, rise the noozle of the bed a little bit and af
