Thank you, that's exactly what I was looking for.by johnka - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Thanks for your reply. I have done this (edited start code on slic3r to lift the nozzle before homing) but I'd like to know if there is an option to change this behavior on firmware. The problem is when I press the home button on pronterface by mistake. I would prefer to home the Y axis before X when I send the G28 command. Is it possible?by johnka - Firmware - mainstream and related support
When I press the home button on pronterface my machine is homing in that order: X-Y-Z. Is it possible to change this order? I want to home first the Y axis because I have binder clips on the left of the bed and my fan duct crashes on them. I manually home Y or raise Z before homing to prevent this but I'd like to change it permanently on the firmware. Is there a setting on Marlin to raise Z beforby johnka - Firmware - mainstream and related support
@touchthebitum I have uncomment both. @Brainscan I set it to false when I wanted to find the offsets for X,Y,Z. After that procedure I set it to true and reflashed the firmware. When I home Z it declares as Z=0 the point it hit the probe microswitch but the nozzle is a few mm higher. With G1 Z0 the nozzle doesn't touch the glass. It stays at Z_PROBE_OFFSET_FROM_EXTRUDER height. I am still ableby johnka - General Mendel Topics
I followed this proccess to calculate these numbers. The problem is it thinks the Z=0 point is where it hits the switch but the nozzle is higher than this point. So the print should start at - point. I could specify a z offset at slic3r but i'd like the command G1 Z0 could make the nozzle touches the bed. What is the right method to do it? What's the Z=0 point with auto bed level enabled? Is it wby johnka - General Mendel Topics
When I run G28 it moves to X,Y home position (0,0), then it moves to the middle of the bed, extends the probe and lowing down until it hits the microswitch. It hits the switch 3,55mm below my nozzle. I have entered the offset values on configuration. If I start a print the nozzle doesn't touch the bed. It stays at Z offset (3,55mm) where the switch triggered. What am I missing? I followed a 3 parts video tutorial on youtube to add a servo and a microswitch and configured marlin for auto bed leveling for my prusa i3 rework. I have adjusted the offsets and the retract/extend angles. When I home my axes with G28 the nozzle is moving at X0, Y0 and then at the center of the bed, raises a few mm, extends the probe, touches the bed and retracts the probe. Could these problems occur if I have thinner filament? I measured my filament with a digital calliper (I'm not sure about its accuracy) and instead of 1.75mm it's 1.63 to 1.67mm. Should I change the filament diameter in slicer software?by johnka - Printing
The extruder is a E3D v5 clone from ebay. The extruder fan is running all the time. I don't have a printing fan yet. I have increased the nozzle-glass distance from one single piece of paper to a folded piece of paper. Also I increased the layer height from 0.2mm to 0.3 mm and the first layer height from 0.2mm to 0.4mm (equal to my nozzle diameter). What are the best options for layer height andby johnka - Printing
It's not directly on the PCB heatbed. I have a 3mm glass. I use PLA and I tried to use painters tape with the exact same result. Also I have used glue stick (on the bottom left of the picture you see a white reflection on the thin glue layer). See the image for my Slic3r settings. What should I change?by johnka - Printing
I just finished my i3 rework and I have printed some small parts (calibration cubes, endstop holder e.t.c). I tried to print a part with bigger surface and it doesn't fill the first layer after it prints the perimeter. I'm not sure if it doesn't stck. I think it doesn't extrude much filament after printing the perimeter due to the low flow of the extrusion. Is there any setting to increase the flby johnka - Printing
I have ordered the DRV8825 stepper drivers and I'm between two options for the stepper motors. I can find 5x 17HS4417 for €51 (2.55V, 1.7A, 1.5Ω, 40Ncm) and 5x 17HS5413 for €64 (3.6V, 1.2A, 3Ω, 48Ncm) Which of them should I prefer? Do the 17HS5413 deserve the extra €13 for their better torque and lower rated current? Thanks in advanceby johnka - Controllers
Could you upload pictures of printed parts and/or videos of your printer extruding this filament? It's very cheap and I'm very curious to see the results.by johnka - For Sale
Thanks for your answers. What about the z axis driver? The prusa i3 has 2 steppers connected in parallel on the same driver. Should the driver for the z axis support twice the maximum current of the steppers? If so and I get the 1.7A steppers, where could I find drivers supporting above 3A for the Z axis?by johnka - Controllers
Hello, I'm ordering the parts to build my first prusa and since I haven't played with stepper motors before I need some help. I found these motors on ebay which have above the recommended torque of 40Ncm. Could I drive them with these A4988 StepStick drivers? The drivers support up to 1A maximum current but the motors' rated current is 1.7A. What problems could I have with this combination? Limitby johnka - Controllers
Ευχαριστώ.by johnka - Greek RepRap User Group, ελληνική ομάδα χρηστών
Hello, I want to built my first reprap and I'm interested in Prusa i3 Einstein variant or Rework. Both of them have single sheet frame and I was wondering about the Z axis step motors length. I will use NEMA 17 motors but I found out that the length of the motors is not standard. If they are too long they won't fit and if they are too short they will hanging from the Z axis bottom parts. Ας ξεκινήσω μεby johnka - Greek RepRap User Group, ελληνική ομάδα χρηστών
