Actually, I was thinking higher level than that, targeting people before they run out and buy parts: a comparison of printers and an overview for makers, if you will. However, I'm guessing by the responses that nothing immediately sprang to mind, so I'll go make the guide, which may or may not balloon in scope.by thenoviceoof - General
It seems like many of the existing resources either are focused on the very basics (3d printing is like 2d printing, but in 3d!) or very specific (here is how I put together my Wade's!) Before I go off and make something for the people that have decided they want to get into printing, but don't know their Thing-o-matics from their Prusas (essentially mapping the current landscape of printing, andby thenoviceoof - General
alright, got parts from rustyspoon.by thenoviceoof - Wanted
The small footprint of the mini is pretty appealing, especially since I'll be in a dorm come autumn. Either shelled or solid parts are good: I'm in the Seattle, WA, USA area if we want to try and minimize shipping costs (although that isn't a big concern). Toss me a price in a PM, and we can haggle from there (ebay auctions are fine, too).by thenoviceoof - Wanted
Anyone willing to print a set of mini-mendel parts for a local? I'm working on the metal mendel, but I would like my own printer, too. If not, then I'll just post in wanted.by thenoviceoof - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
Figured I'd stick my head in... We're building a metal repstrap at the University of Puget Sound, which may or may not be finished before the semester ends. We're crossing our fingers, but who knows? Yup, good times.by thenoviceoof - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
Some questions: I'm guessing these have holes, probably two so that you don't get air bubbles. Right? How long do you think it would take for the epoxy to set in the shell? Other than that, I'm pretty interested in the set/concept. How much are you putting them out for?by thenoviceoof - Plastic RepRap Parts for Sale
how much did you pay for them, if I may inquire?by thenoviceoof - Wanted
Hmm, the problem is that I might need the parts in a month: right now I'm broke and am pursuing an alternative reprap form, which might not work out in such a way that I'll know in a month. So the offer sounds good, but a month too early.by thenoviceoof - For Sale
Thanks, I guess I forgot about the newark one because of the $20 handling fee. I'll have to check out those other two. tnoby thenoviceoof - General
Is it just me, or are atmega168 chips in tqfp form just out of stock everywhere online?by thenoviceoof - General
@PeterBrazier Yes, it does seem that swighton has a working metal mendel; whether he has overcome his extruder woes is yet to be seen, though. Everything else in the plans sans extruder looks like it's fine and machinable, though (based on the pictures), and we're working on replicating his work. So, if the PDFs are from swighton, then I'm guessing that they're alright, and it's complete. HTHby thenoviceoof - General Mendel Topics
Hello, I'm also looking into getting the v2.3 stepper board pcbs ever since makerbot ended production of them. I was looking at getting em' from , but it gets pretty expensive ($66 for 4 boards by my reckoning). I'm also looking at getting a larger production run, but I'm not sure if enough people would want them to make it worth my while (ex. I make 40 boards with , then 9 people will have to grby thenoviceoof - Wanted
It's been noted before in a different thread, but I figured that instead of letting it go even more off topic, I'd just create a new thread. As of now, bare PCBs of the v2.3 stepper motor drivers are out of stock and discontinued by Makerbot. Their assembled driver boards seem to be merely out of stock, though, so I'm not sure what they're planning. Getting the PCBs made by batchpcb is prettyby thenoviceoof - Controllers
