PRICE DROPPED TO $120 SHIPPING TO THE U.S.! Inquire about shipping options outside the country.by carl67lp - For Sale
I bought a Smoothieboard 5x (assembled maker edition) some time ago but never got around to using it in my 3D printer project. Thus, I'm putting it up for sale. $140 including shipping anywhere in the US. Any questions, just let me know. And if you happen to be interested in a nearly complete Kossel mini project printer and you're in the SE Michigan area, you could take that off my hands, tooby carl67lp - For Sale
I've come to the realization that while I enjoy 3D printing, I do *not* enjoy building 3D printers. It's just too time-consuming and fiddly for me. Thus I'm looking for someone to finish building my Roaddog Labs 3D printer. It's probably 80% done mechanically. It'd need to have the rest of the mechanical stuff done (x-axis belt, hot end assembly/installation, bed installation, maybe a coupleby carl67lp - Wanted
Anyone offering up-to-date printed parts for sale for this printer? I'm considering tearing apart a Kossel mini that I never finished and using its parts for a FuseBox, but as I don't have a running printer at the moment, I'd need the plastic parts.by carl67lp - CoreXY Machines
Thanks, vegasloki -- this is exactly the information I needed. Indeed, I actually had your frame on my eBay watch list. That said, I don't see a rod kit in your eBay store that has the longer upper rear cross rod; all of them seem to have four cross rods of equal length. Am I missing something?by carl67lp - General Mendel Topics
I've been looking to build a new printer, and have more or less narrowed it down to the Prusa i3. My initial thought was to go with the Rework version, but the lack of certainty (on my part) of exactly which frame DXF file to use turned me off. In addition, I got to thinking about the issue of (potential) stability issues--and that led me to the lasercut frame by sgraber. Given that I can quicby carl67lp - General Mendel Topics
Seems I solved my own problem. The igus pillow bearings weren't quite lined up, so I loosened them, slid the carriage back and forth a few times end to end to straighten them out, and tightened them back up a bit. No more movement issues!by carl67lp - General Mendel Topics
Last night was exciting--I finally got my MendelMax wired up and plugged in, and the firmware loaded up. After a couple of false starts (mainly due to the motors being plugged in backwards, and the Z motors being plugged in opposite to each other), I was able to verify that all of the linear motion was working as expected. With one caveat. Here's my X axis setup: X carriage: X ends: The caby carl67lp - General Mendel Topics

Thanks, Bantha. I ended up printing a 3mm version of the extruder, since I'd not heard anything on this thread, but I'm intrigued by your mention of using a 3mm extruder with 1.75mm filament...by carl67lp - Plastic Extruder Working Group
The extrusions and rods for my MendelMax arrived last week, and I gave them to my cousin's husband to do the tapping and cutting. I've also got plenty of M5 fittings to put the thing together...but what I don't yet have is the self-tapping screws for the diagonal extrusions (I forgot to order them). That got me to thinking: Why is it that the design calls for self-tapping screws in those ends,by carl67lp - General Mendel Topics
Having done my research into the 3mm vs. 1.75mm debate, I've landed on the side of the latter--primarily due to my experience using it on a Makerbot Replicator at the office. With that said, I'm finalizing the printing of my MendelMax parts and I've got to do the extruder. Greg's Wade Reloaded looks about the best for my purposes, but by default it's set up for 3mm filament. What do I need toby carl67lp - Plastic Extruder Working Group
As often happens, I'm having difficulty making up my mind about which direction I want to go for building a 3D printer. My initial thought was a MendelMax kit from Utilbots, but I got to thinking about how to self-source to keep costs low. I ran across the Prusa i3 at MakerFarm, and the price seemed right, but I couldn't shake the idea that I was really looking for a MendelMax. Alas, my dog deciby carl67lp - General Mendel Topics
Was it the Blomker kit, by chance? Anyway, this is all excellent information. I'm certainly leaning back toward the MendelMax. A friend of mine and I have been making use of the MakerBot Replicator Dual here at the office for the past several weeks, and it's been such a good time that I've given thought to putting together my own, with his help. I'm not a mechanical or electrical whiz, but my buddy is, and we're confident that we can put together a RepRap bot of some sort without too much difficulty, even if it takes a wby carl67lp - Delta Machines
