hi cheers, sorted, yes I needed to change the heights etc, but also found the the eeprom was blocking updates to the arduino, o even though I made a change it didn't accept. In the end I reset the arduino, and used the latest version of the repetier firmware. now running on a dry run.by daveb500 - Delta Machines
Hi My Delta build is now at the tricky stage of getting the axis movements. I can move in x and y to full movement, but z will move any amount in + but only in - by the same amount of +. e.g g1 z10, and z will move 10mm vertical. try g1 z-10 and it will move down 10mm, but if I enter g1 z-11 it wont move. Also it will not stop when it hits the end stops. I know it must be in the endstop logic,by daveb500 - Delta Machines
I am just building my own version of a delta, and am using repetier firmware which deos config slightly differently. However the issue you have seems to be familiar with many who build delta's, it is related to the endstop config, in that the end stops maybe set as normally open, but you have the config for normally closed, so the machine is trying to get a to a normally closd point,. Or you mayby daveb500 - Delta Machines
The carriages have 8 3mm x 10mm bearings in teach, and there is a facility to adjust the push onto the square tube if it does wear or become loose over time.by daveb500 - Delta Machines
Thought I would post some pic of my Delta Pi, its nearing the end of its build. Most of the printed parts have been modified to suit my build. I am using 20mm sq Stainless steel for the uprights. the print height will go to 550mm, on a 200 x 200 bed. All the wireing from the top of the printer runs down through the tubes. I am aiming for this printer to have a very clean look, no rats nest of wirby daveb500 - Delta Machines

Give it a try and see what happens, I would.by daveb500 - Printing
I looks like you have a bit od z axis wobble, but looking good for first attempts, I wouldn't go changing too much, just make small corrections in your slicer prog and see what results you get.by daveb500 - General
You need some clean glass, then a coating of 30%PVA (Elmers)and 70% water, That will stick the material to the bed when heated. PLA heat 55 ABS around 70by daveb500 - Printing
Yep as Shadow says its a USB interference problem. Try a shielded USB cable, make sure the USB isn't running close to power supply or any of the cables powering the heaters. I had a similar issue when my printer would stop part way through a print, then say cant connect.by daveb500 - Reprappers
Sorted, the lcd does need power to the arduino to run as a stand alone, but I had a dry joint on the ramps board that stopped it working.by daveb500 - Reprappers
This may be a daft question, but since the arduino gets its power from the usb when connected to the usb. When you instal a LCD screen and sd card reader do you have to have in independent power supply to the arduino. My mega has a power supply socket.by daveb500 - Reprappers
This sounds similar to a problem I had. For me it was USB interference. I change my USB cable to a shielded version this solved the problem. I also made sure the power supply was on the opposite side of the machine to the PCB and USB cable.by daveb500 - Reprappers
You need to change the z acceleration to about 125 this should solve your home problem. Dont have anything for your other.by daveb500 - Reprappers
I use brake pipe male and female screwed couplings to join my z motors to the 5mm leadscrew, plus spent time lining up the shaft to the motor. This reduced the banding, although didnt eliminate. I am ging to reduce from a .5 nozzle to .25 nozzle and reduce the lair height from .35 to .15 to .2 for the .25 nozzel, this should further clean up the print. It should be possible to convert to belt drby daveb500 - Reprappers
I use PVA glue at 30% glue 70% water and allow to dry before running. I replace the coating every couple of days, works fine for me.by daveb500 - Printing
I agreed with pdavg PVA glue at 30% PVA 70% water painted on the glass, allowed to dry then the heat bed at 55c PLA stick everytime. cool the bed to less than 40 c to release. I can now set the print running and walk away.by daveb500 - Reprappers
Sounds like the pully is spinning on the motor shaft. this will give a false movement. The motor steps will be correct, but the motion will be out.by daveb500 - Reprappers
Great stuff guys, running with (UHU) pva glue watered down to 30 parts pva to 70 parts water. The parts so far are sticking great, Thanks for the tip.by daveb500 - Reprappers
Ok thanks, will give that a try.by daveb500 - Reprappers
Hi all I,ve just got printing, and had some ok results, and some awful results. My problem is getting the PLA to stick throughout the print. it either wont stick at all and just balls up on the extruder, or will do for a few layers, but then one end starts to twist away from the bed. I am extruding first layer at 190 c and have the bed set at 65 c then Ive tried turning it down to 50, 40, 25 etc.by daveb500 - Reprappers
That's a good point. Its was always my intention to go sd card eventually anyway. Want to have this machine running in my shop window.by daveb500 - Reprappers
An update on my comms issues. I moved the power supply away from the usb comms input to the arduino. and also changed to the cable to shielded sb cable, Now it all work fine runs to the end of the print with no hang ups. Thanks for your help.by daveb500 - Reprappers
Yep you could be right, the USB is quite long, also it runs over the top of the power supply. Will try a usb cable with a sheild. Cheersby daveb500 - Reprappers
I had the same problem when moving z in -. It would stop and buzz. The feed rate in MArlin was set at something like 500 mm/min. I changed this to a max of 125 mm/min and now it runs fine in both directions.by daveb500 - Reprappers
I have just completed my first build, and currently in the process of dry testing. The build is based on the Prusa i3 with arduino mega board and ramps 1.4. I am running through windows 7 and can communicate and run the system. The firmware I am now running is Marlin, however I did start with sprinter, and the same issues occurred in both version of firmware. The issue I have is that during the mby daveb500 - Reprappers
