I have bought a Gen3 electronics kit for my Prusa and have got the build to the point where I need to set up the Opto limits. 2 of the 3 switches have blown due to my own negligence, but I would prefer to use micro switches rather than get more of the opto's. Is it possible to do this, and if so could someone point me in the right direction to get all the relevant info? Many thanks Tonyby tony woollacott - General
cheers, thats got it.by tony woollacott - General
hi everyone, can someone help me to get the x and z axes to go the opposite way please. i have just assembled my first prusa and although the axes all move, when i try to home them i have this problem. thanks tonyby tony woollacott - General

I have read the posts with interest, but cannot get a grip on the purpose. Using multiple extruders for fill material etc. all makes logical sence because it enables you to build more complex and or accurate parts. The making of a part with different colours as cool as this sounds seems to me to be a lot of effort for little pay back, in real terms. It certainly has sparked a lot of interest thouby tony woollacott - General
Hi Dale, I have been looking everywhere for iges or step files as well and have found none untill now. I also tried opening your files and had no problem with iges or step. I am using Inventor. Would it be possible to get a complete set of models in step? I am wanting to build a Mendel and have made a start trying to model the parts from the photos in the wiki. I have made good progress, but am wby tony woollacott - Developers
I am surprised that no-one has responded to your post. I think it is a really good idea to have overtravel switches on all the axes. Maybe if you try posting in the general discussion forum you will have more luck. I will keep a look out for it.by tony woollacott - Developers
Got it!!!. I found that changing the settings in the speed page had little to no effect, but I went into the ramp page and changed the settings on all the flow related windows, and I now have an extruder motor that not only turns, but retracts when it should and best of all you can't fry an egg on it anymore! Thanks again to all those who gave me a helping hand.by tony woollacott - Reprappers
Here is a comparison. What do you think? Current settings Activate Speed: True TRUE Add Flow Rate: True TRUE Bridge Feed Rate Multiplier (ratio): 1.11 1 Bridge Flow Rate Multiplieby tony woollacott - Reprappers
Thanks Viktor, thats makes perfect sense. I cant determine the exact spot in skeinforge settings that controls the extruder motor steps. Any ideas?by tony woollacott - Reprappers
1/ Running gen 3 electronics. 2/ Cannot get graphics to work in Repsnapper, so am using Skeinforge, which I am very happy with. 3/ Once Repsnapper is loaded and the axes are homed, all the steppers behave as expected. 4/ I have all the motors standing side by side on the table, as I want to make sure everything works perfectly before mounting into the machine. After generating the gcode in skeiby tony woollacott - Reprappers
One more thing. I am running with gen3 electronics, does'nt that mean I cant use gen 6 software? I have changed the settings in skeinforge and the x,y and z axes run beautifully, but the extruder still doesnt run. It turns perfectly at the start of the program, but then stops and jitters in one spot, and also gets quite hot. Could this be to do with the programmed feedrate?? In your note at the end of the settings page, you say; ''My start code is G21; metric is good G90; absolute positioning G92 X0 Y0 Z0 E0; zero the extruded length axes My end code is G91 G1 F70 G1 E-10 F30000; sucks filament back quickly to stop ooze G1 Z7 F70; lifts nozzle 7mm from finished print surface G1 F2300 G1 X-100 Y100 F2300; moves print bed out for easy job removal G90 M104 S0; turnsby tony woollacott - Reprappers
Once again, thanks for your help. I will have a go tonight and see what difference it makes.by tony woollacott - Reprappers
Thanks for all your help . I have sorted the skeinforge placing of parts etc. and have the extruder motor turning, but it turns very slowly and has no torque, but again is fine in manual mode. Would it be possible to give me snap shots of the various skeinforge screens so I could change the settings to something I know to work.by tony woollacott - Reprappers
Yes I am in Ashford Kent, I also figured you must be on the other side of the world. I want to mount the motors once I am happy with all the electronics doing what I expect it to do. I will have a go at switching the heat off tonight and see if that works. I also wanted to ask you, how do you position your part/parts before you create the g code in skeinforge, is there a step by step anywhere?by tony woollacott - Reprappers
Fantastic, skeinforge works brilliantly. The X,Y and Z axes are moving great, the extruder motor is not turning though. Could this be because I dont have the hot end on yet? I never explained that I am trying the electronics out, without having the motors mounted on the machine. The extruder works manually. I am very grateful for the help, thanks NelsonRap. ><by tony woollacott - Reprappers
Here is a snapshot of my screen, as you can see there isnt a resemblance to 'motor cogs' that I can see.by tony woollacott - Reprappers
I downloaded the reprap software from the wiki, and have tried to load stl files that I also got from the wiki. I followed the instructions for placing an stl file and it all seems in order until you look at the part and it is all space age. I tried to do all the same steps on my other PC and get the same result, so it cant be my graphics as the PCs are very different one running XP pro the otherby tony woollacott - Reprappers
Ok, so I have got it all loaded and ready to pull the trigger, but when I load an stl file it comes out looking like something from outer space. I have tried several stls from the wiki and they all do the same thing. Anyone got any suggestions?by tony woollacott - Reprappers

sorry I couldnt be of more help.by tony woollacott - Reprappers
I have got it working to a point. I am yet to test the hot end but the led lights up when you turn the heater on so I guess it should all work. My problem was that I had no recognition between the motherboard and the PC and as expected the solution was really simple, if you knew how!>< Here is what I did: First I went to the setting host preferences, , then went to , for the driver toby tony woollacott - Reprappers
just spotted this post and wondered if you ever completed this challenge? If not I would be happy to take it on.by tony woollacott - Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
I live in Ashford Kent UK, and would be very greatful if I could get together with someone who has a working RepRap, so that they could guide and advise me on the setting up and tuning etc. of this great little machine. I have got the boards setup and connected to the steppers, and I have got my RepStrap 80% built. I have tried looking for the required information on the wiki site, but to be quitby tony woollacott - Reprappers
the firmware is apparently already loaded and ready to roll. I need to know about the reprap software and how it all talks to the machine etc.by tony woollacott - Reprappers
Is there anyone out there who could give me a step by step procedure on what software I need and what I need to do to get it to comunicate with the machine? I have bought an electronic kit which I have connected up to the stepper motors. Please point me in the right dirrection.by tony woollacott - Reprappers
