You can build anything you want that is patented, as long as it is not for commercial purposes. If your intent is commercial, you may have issues.by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms

New assembly next to the old sheet metal. E3D hot end ready to be modified.by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
The Z axis was in need of some repair, so I purchased new bearing blocks and machined up new platform arms. Since the printer is now disassembled, I am going to take this opportunity to redo the sheet metal over the next few days.by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
If you watch the video they have on their website, you'll notice that nothing is printed on the center of the disk. This is because the extruder would make a mess of things right there. The result is a reduction in build volume. Its a nice machine, but I suspect thats why there aren't many more. CNC machines are a whole different ball of wax.by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms

I suspect it has a lot to do with the "dead space" at the center of rotationby Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
You checked all the bolts but did you adjust the belt tension? With such a small print, I don't think the stepper motor drivers are overheating, but check them out as well.by Evil Monkey - Reprappers
You can always use CAD (cardboard aided design) if it gets too hard to visualizeby Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Perhaps bias it to one side with a springby Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
dont suppose you have any pictures of it?by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
That picture looks like the machine is under extruding or the temperature is incorrect.by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Based on the second photo, I would agree that segments are rather large. In what way did you modify the Morgan firmware?by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
You are definitely not starting at the correct home position from looking at the third picture. What version of the SCARA firmware are you using?, if its Ttsolo's I can help there. The first picture looks as though the stepper motors are either loosing steps or those belts are not tight. The drivers current may need to be increased.by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Definitely second the recommendation for Fusion 360. The CAM portion alone his worth 10x the standard price of the program.by Evil Monkey - General
That is great to hear! Looks like I need to dust off my printer and update the firmware.by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Thats great news! Does the arm not have the weird bug that causes it to swing over at startup then?by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Freeze the bearings.by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Have you considered the technique used on the shapeko x axis, but use it for the z axis. Use a geared stepper motor pulling a timing belt to raise the platform up and down. This would get you away from the complexity of the toothed helical gear.by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms

Try as I might, I am not much of a programmer. That printer runs off a ramps 1.4 purchased from Ultimachine. Great board in my opinion, but a bit expensive. There are knockoffs available on ebay for $40. I'm not using it at the moment. My main printer went down so I snagged some parts off of it. I have been meaning to rebuild it, I have never been happy with the sheet steel and have long been tby Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
When I built my scara machine, I machined the holes to a very tight tolerance, heated the arms on a hot plate and chilled the bearings. Parts slipped together like a champ.by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Did you consider putting the bearings in a freezer for a few hours before putting them in?by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
There is a former forum member named ttsalo that modified Marlin to use SCARA G codes. Perhaps check out how he did it on his Github.by Evil Monkey - Reprappers
I find the design very interesting, keep up the great work!by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Just switched to airtrippers bowden and an e3d hotend as well. It works great.by Evil Monkey - Reprappers
That's a really cool idea!by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
This is a very nice design. Are you going to limit the arms movement to avoid hitting singularities?by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Have you looked at www.chillipeppr.com. They have a program for the tinyg board specifically for use with laser cutters.by Evil Monkey - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
