I dont want sloping, or random, either shifted by half the hexagon to lines all line up still, or half scale on alternating layers, depends if using it for decorative or flexible material uses, maybe not on a layer by layer, maybe every few mm, I have a lot of experimenting to come. Why, because I hoped it might solve some of the issues from poorly chosen infills, when people are pushed to save tby MechaBits - General
I Can't wait to get going with honeycomb infills, but wish there was a way to shift them on a layer by layer basis, rather than keeping continuous, I have to learn how to make sure those filaments get smooshed into the perimeters to make sure they are connected. But an optimized voronii infill would also be cool.by MechaBits - General

I could separate the 2 outer ones by rotating 90 degrees but realize its a little tight, might have to take a leaf out of the ultimakers arrangement, steel spring and some isolation/barrier material, could ceramic be used? Smaller heaters needed note taken, I wonder can someone make a heater nut/nozzle. You Ooze you loose, the working title was the triple dribbler, or trible trouble for the tby MechaBits - General
Well the devil makes work for idle hands, so while waiting for some more parts to arrive I thought I try would design a triple extruder, not that I need it at the moment, but who knows maybe in the future. Can't you use these, perhaps larger ones, I've been thinking of using them to support the rods, better than A blocks rail supports. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KFL08-FL08-Self-Aligning-Pillow-Block-Flange-Bearing-8mm-Shaft-2PCS-/191496178601?hash=item2c960fcba9:g:GEoAAOSwLVZVjVahby MechaBits - Extruded Aluminum Frames
I wonder if you added another Z lug at the bottom would it add further support, I know you not using brass inserts in this, but in the setup I'm using I can add 2 brass nuts and tighten things up which seems to take out any backlash, not the I'm noticing any backlash on the Z at the moment.by MechaBits - General
Not sure if i've had your exact problem, but when I was trying to get things working, I had the older arduino versions as suggested in countless old threads, and trying to connect from XP, wasnt till I switched to 8.1 and got the latest arduino ide that everything started working. so I can only guess that the latest drivers solved my issue, and not being on XP. So maybe win7 doesnt have requiredby MechaBits - General
The comments about the polarworks Alta creators on 3ders.org are Interesting(considering the current escapade I've been through) I like the aluminium contruction, but the whole Z part looks similar to another printer thats floating around, I love the solid looking construction of this, I was quite tempted to get one, In the rotary version, I was playing with the idea of one motor for Z and rby MechaBits - Let's design something! When was the R-360 first shown, anyone know? Looks like 2 years ago. I had the same vision, some time last year, I posted the idea on grabcad october 2014 https://grabcad.com/library/z-360-revolution-1 but as many people where downloading the images but not ticking the like button, I removed the images and kept them only on my own site, this happens with many other websites when you share the idby MechaBits - Let's design something! Talking of design theft...little did I know my designs would end up on a crowdfunding site within a week of posting here. Thanks for the heads up, the people who contacted me. Your mastery of the english language will help you write a compelling crowdfunding pitch, if you can get your college onboard and try to source a printer for them, it shouldn't be too hard to get perhaps enough to fund a printer & some materials. But from what I've heard about crowdfunding campaigns they require months/years of promotion before launch.by MechaBits - General

Possibly cheaper to use the premade heatsinks as the cost is lower, nothing like having extra though, I bought one of these small 42mm heatsinks, even though it only had 2 holes not 4, thought I wanted it for cooling the stepper but there's no way to attach it to the back without unscrewing long screws holding things together, I decided not to bother, I've heard about steppers getting hot but notby MechaBits - General
Modular is Good! Future Proofing your parts is good. Leaving room for part to grow is good. Laminating parts or bolting smaller parts together could increase strength & stiffness. it's tricky to add features you might not need yet but in the future, but it cant hurt to think about it! In fact it's a great workout for the mind, but it can lead to so many ideas/configurations the hard parts figby MechaBits - Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
Yes I read the guide, and will probably read it a few more times, I believe alu is one of the best materials to print on, I wonder if a cheap MK3 under your plate would be enough, but the plate's more expensive than the heatbed, you still put some tape on it, the local fablab seems to be coping quite well on the ultimaker with a little hairspray or prit stick. Hi Brian thanks for the info, you got a Tormach, now your talkin, those machines are cool from what I've seen, I was very tempted to get one feeling it would be capable of most things needed, problem for shipping to the UK though. I could get an older knee or turret machine for the price of shipping. and then this is thing with having a machine, costs, and somwhere to put it, and then obviouslyby MechaBits - RepRap magazine
Sorry to chip in on this without a solution to the problem, but as this is the most current thread mentioning silicone heaters, I thought it would be better here than a new thread. I'm currently looking to finish my bed design, hoping to get it right first time otherwise i'll manage without for a while, choosing the right combo/layering for the job. I'm looking at doing the same but dont mind 2 seperate plugs one for power, the other for sensors and other little extra's, in addition I could really do with a 3x6 dupont type so the endstops could be plugged all at once, as these seperate pins seem to work loose and if its the middle pin you might not notice till its too late, one plug would fit better and probably stay in place, could only finby MechaBits - General

I'm hoping to be able to set bed perfectly flat, and forget about it, its the Z & X I'm more concerned about, and the angle of Y relative to X, Leveling of my Z effects my X, but I suppose bed levelling is more about an easier way to adjust bed relative to the Z&X inaccuraciesby MechaBits - General
