The 3D Printer Village is GO! I got approval today. I posted some details here: And I'm tracking more info here as we get it: [3dprintervillage.posterous.com]by JohnA - General
I just got the approval today, we're approved for the 3D Printer Village. At this point I don't know who will attend, but I'm starting to keep track of some details here: [3dprintervillage.posterous.com] Ideally we'd love to have 6-8 printers of various types throughout the weekend - I think this will draw a big crowd. Let me know if you have questions / suggestions / want to bring a printerby JohnA - New York City RepRap User Group

Did anyone ever register for this? I've applied for 2 tables for a '3D Printer Village' and should find out next week if it got approved. I'll be bringing a MakerBot and a Mendel, but I'd love to get as many printers there as possible.by JohnA - New York City RepRap User Group
Ok -- to keep the momentum I've applied for 2 exhibit spaces for a '3D Printer Village' -- I've requested power and internet connectivity, and we could potentially get free admission for anyone who can bring a printer to the Faire. If it gets approved I'll post back here and we can see who can bring what to the event. I think approvals go out by 8/15.by JohnA - General
I was at least throwing around the idea of trying to get a table or two for a "3d printing village" space. I can probably bring a MakerBot and a Mendel, and I think I can find a few more people with MakerBots as well. The NYC area forum here seems to be real quiet considering the show is coming up fast. Hell, get enough people and we could all print a sheet or two of Mini Mendel from Spaby JohnA - General
My Mendel assembly starts next week, btw.by JohnA - General
I replied to Adam on the MakerBot forum as well, but I'll reiterate what spacexula has said -- making Mendels to cover MakerBot costs isn't an easy project. It's certainly possible, but it's a ton of work. I reject the idea though that a MakerBot can't be reliable -- I've got at least 75 hours on mine since the last time anything was adjusted. I got mine in May and have printed at least 1by JohnA - General

Definitely dump that toy. I'll take it for half off!by JohnA - General
I don't have a Mendel (yet) -- but I've got 2 MakerBots and I've printed 2 Mini Mendels, and I'm 90% of the way done with 2 full-sized Mendel prints. My parts come out great, the printer runs for about 15-20 hours a week largely unattended. If you can't make a MakerBot work, I would think you're going to have more trouble with a RepRap -- but that's just my $0.02.by JohnA - General
Sold. We've got 2 full-size Mendels in production now, I expect both to be on eBay, maybe by 4th of July.by JohnA - Plastic RepRap Parts for Sale
Printed in mostly black ABS (with some white) on two different MakerBots with heated build platforms. 90% of these were printed raftless, and have shiny bottom surfaces. High-Res: Basic cleanup done, some holes will need to be cleaned out better before use. There are 4 or 5 pieces not in the photos, but included! More pics of printing them available here: eBay Auction: Next up iby JohnA - Plastic RepRap Parts for Sale
