I've never experienced the effects of resonance that Nophead wrote about because I use firmware with acceleration. So if its an effect of resonance and you don't want to go through the hassle of editing the G-code, I would change to a firmware with acceleration. At the moment I believe you have two choices: Teacup Sprinter . I would consider both still under development and you may still f

I mentioned how I did it in the notes at the very bottom, but here it is again. All holes were drilled using a cordless hand drill. The hollow brass bolts were made by spinning the bolt in the drill while holding the drill bit with pliers. (0.4mm hole drilled while holding the bit in my fingers) A similar technique can be found And this is how most repStrappers are building there wades. (incl

Removed, I recommend buying a J-head or Makergear hotend now.

I'm not sure that is correct. I believe I have read a thread somewhere mentioning not all transistors are capable of running at the frequencies required for PID. A tip120 I believe is only good for bang/bang control. You may want to start a thread in the general electronics forum to confirm.

Not sure if you have spent the time to read through all of Nopheads blog. I highly recommend taking the time to read every page twenty times. As always he's taken the time to document his experiences, tests and failures. PLA on glass. I ended up building a variation of his hotend design called Plumbstuder and it works a dream.

Yes I use the temperature settings and have found them to be very important. Raft has to be enabled for the temperature settings to work, but you can set the raft's (integer) values to 0. I found that testing the minimum temp I could extrude at and then use 20degrees hotter for the first layer and 10degrees hotter than minimum for the rest. I have the support set at the minimum but haven't tried

It has to be the blue painters tape from Scotch / 3M, not sure why but after hundreds of test by the community over the last few years it is clear that its the one that works. (see picture attached) Here's a link to Nopheads findings on the subject

Have you tried printing on Blue painters tape? The attached picture shows a gear I printed with PLA on blue painters tape without a heated bed. The straight edge shows how flat it is in the worst direction.

@Architect Glad to hear we came to the same conclusion. I notice that my fillet radius is double that of yours and may be why mine look slightly less bulgy in the corners. I have not eliminated the blobs entirely either and I think the new acceleration algorithm they are working on should help with this. I also think that having my E_startstop_steps set to 10 may help, so something even higher m

Sorry for misspeaking earlier I was on my way out the door. For a pre-compiled version of Ben Jackson's ReplicatorG to work with teacup go here Then take the latest Commit of teacup and try and get it working WITHOUT hardware end stops. Once you get all the axis moving in the right direction you can try turning off the software limits and turn on the endstops. It is really hard to debug issues

I had/have the same problem with blobby corners and the way I dealt with it was to use the fillet modifier to cut the corners slightly. I did it that way as opposed to using oozebane which allows you to stop your extruder before the corners because oozebane adds more lines of code which slows down the machine. I also have acceration set to 250000 from the original 500000 because of how slow it ma

It seems that everyone is looking for some pre-configuration to start off with. I have created just such a thing for everyone to try. I was planning on releasing this information after all my testing was done, but due to a faulty pololu driver my machine is out of commission for a while. I have written a quick over view of my settings here and have a down-loadable set of Skeinforge profiles an

It looks like the bed temp is showing up in both log files. Can you set the temp in the control panel and have it heat up, and you are just not getting any feedback through the control panel? In reprap.xml set your debug level to "2" In repG's preferences turn debug to "all" This will give a little more info from teacup at least.
