YES, a mini-mendel can easily print the CORNER.STL contained in your RAR file. The building cost will be less than for a Mendel. The electronics is the same. The motors are NEMA14 instead of NEMA23, should be cheaper. Frame is M6 threaded bar instead of M8.by rhmorrison - General Mendel Topics
@martinprice2004: You totally missed the point of his original post. He needs bronze parts for his sailboat not plastic parts so creating a mold out of bronze to make plastic parts doesn't help him. He wanted to know if he could use RepRap to create plastic parts that can then be made into bronze. To cut to the quick - the answer is YES!by rhmorrison - General
Quotejason What would be even cooler would be if this machine had interchangeable "print" heads, one that would work with wax, the other which would be a standard RepRap head. You could then prototype the part in plastic, test it for fit and suitability for purpose, then make your wax one for casting. I don't see why this wouldn't work. And remember, the RepRap machines only use 12v so you shouby rhmorrison - General
You set it up in the RepRap Preferences dialog window (click on the Preferences button from the RepRap Console window) and then set the proper values for: XAxisScale(steps/mm), YAxisScale(steps/mm) and ZAxisScale(steps/mm).by rhmorrison - General Mendel Topics
YES - that does make more sense in the instances where I have seen it used here. BUT... The question remains - WHY do it when the poster obviously didn't have anything useful to add to the topic?by rhmorrison - For Sale
Quotero bear in mind that the extruder controller does not support stepper driven extruders Where did you ever get this idea? The majority of Mendel Reprappers are using Gen 3 electronics and stepper driven extruders! Quotenophead It's a 0.4mm nozzle. I extrude at 0.375mm or 0.4375mm to give layer heights of 0.3 or 0.35mm as my z-axis has 0.05mm steps. Have you determined this to be the best compromise between speed and quality? I know you have used both 0.3 and 0.5 nozzles as well. I assume that with 0.3 it takes too long, and with 0.5 the quality isn't good enough.by rhmorrison - Plastic RepRap Parts for Sale

Yes, I think your method of having the z-axis home at the top (away from the bed) is much safer. With your new Mendel do you really have to do your calibration for the z-axis 0 often. I thought that only your HydraRaptor had problems that the height would constantly change. With the Mendel it should be stable and only need calibration when the extruder/nozzle is changed.by rhmorrison - General Mendel Topics
Quotenophead With a spring you only turn one bolt. Surely that is easier? You might have a valid point there! BUT... With a spring you have a limit as to how far it can compress, and being made out of extruded plastic how far it restores to it's original length. With two nuts the top not is only for locking. Adjustment is always done via the lower nut. In other words, I move the top nut fby rhmorrison - General Mendel Topics
It seams to me that this is pretty useless. BETTER would be to simply have 4mm threaded bar, the opto flag board attached to piece that is then on the threaded bar and held in place by the kabob effect used everywhere else on the Mendel for 8mm threaded bar. The height/position of the opto flag board can then simply be raised/lowered by moving the 4mm nuts. This is especially important if yoby rhmorrison - General Mendel Topics
