These settings seemed to fix my situation nicely. Prior to this manual motions of the printer would overmove by a factor of 4. This fixed that. Menu selection is still OK too.

First I would like to thank you for your time. :-) Your description is exactly consistant with my experience. You make it sound like the "mystery button" produces a direct interupt to the processor and does not rely on code to "MAKE IT STOP!!'. With your own experience as an example, that is a very good thing since code is not 100% reliable. I guess the difference between repetier's auto-reset

Reprappers
Hi!
I'm building custom prusa i3 3d printers for my kids (4 kids + myself = 5) (intended as Christmas presents, but things are running longer than expected :-) ) I have a working i2 and most of the parts.
I'm using reprapdiscount smart controllers (probably copies of originals - came from one of the better Chinese sources)
They work nicely, but have a mysterious button below the knob that h

Much les Kludgy than my idea. Not Kludgy at all. Would be very cool.
I could make the batch file send me an SMS on my phone and then launch a media application and play an MP3 of "Daylight Come and Me Wanna Go Home" (seems appropriate for a machine that has finished its task) or the the Star Wars Imperial March. (less appropriate but still fun) ;-)
I think MPower is right, it is best to si

@MPower :-)
I have managed to use a batch file in Windows to generate email messages that can go to a cell phone service's email gateway so I can get SMS messages that are included in that batch file. Verizon, for instance, uses 1234567890@vtext.com for whoever might have a (123) 456-7890 phone number. (U.S.A

You are "Spot On" with the Smartcontroller. Great value. I'll give your selection a try. :-)

thanx for replying. :-)
I'll give M120 a run when I'm physically at home. I've got one of those $50 16x4 LCD controllers with wheel, reset button, SDcard reader, AND PIEZO BEEPER that I hear when I use the interface. It sounds like I'll get most of the desired benefit. Still I'd like to hear it play Imperial March or a long Bach medly. (I've go Doom and Doom II midi files somewhere too tha

Feature Request:
I remotely administer my 3d printer (tweaked Prusa Mendel) running Repetier. Often a print job finishes/fails and the machine is in need of human assistance before it can do anything else. Making it able to make sound tones would help it draw the attention of human helpers who happen to be home. (sorry about the alliteration)
I want to be able to run a job that displays a me

In general, I agree that this could be a **HUGE** source of frustration at first but I think we need to find a way to make this work. The Makerbots now have self unloading platforms and I would expect quick resetting to become common with reprap systems soon. That combined with more reliable extruders leads to an ability to print a whole lot more than ever before. Right now the cost of the fil

Just a clarification.
I'm trying to get others thinking about the idea of making 3d printers that work on a modular principle. The machines already are made of a couple hundred interchangeable parts, but I'm talking about separate, yet connected functional units. So far I think it would be good to have 3 modules

Because you used the word, Objet, I went to see what it is. It looks like Objet makes some very nice prototyping 3d printers. The only problem is that it seems to be a single print job per setup rig, like most 3d printers. (Like the old Gutenburg printing press was.) Only just today did I see any exception to that rule, The Makerbot with Automated Build Platform, which more or less

Good luck with getting the printer working. I'm particularly busy at this time, so I can only observe and comment. I know that once I jump in, this project is going to consume a lot of my time, a luxury I cannot afford right now. :-)
The whole switching out of modular components is very critical. Remember how interchangeable parts made the rifle much more practical? ( I know that no one is t

It's no accident that the image has a rabbit on the platform, considering how they multiply. From the look of it, the building platform is a kind of conveyor that unloads and self cleans for consecutive print jobs. Very cool. I guess you keep a basket in front of it to receive all the parts that it prints.
The site seems to be very weak on actual specs. We need more than 1 picture too. :-)

I've been watching the Reprap project for about a year now and said practically nothing. Its time for a change. :-)
I see lots of work, discussion, and youtube downloads about extruders, controller boards, xyz axis motion systems, and a myriad of other technical details on making the current reprap system better. That is all well and good. I applaud the builders' efforts.
