Thanks jcabrer! You have NO IDEA how helpful this was to me!by johnbiehler - General
Welcome! I'm not sure if you are aware that we have a meetup coming up next week in Langley (Wed the 11th at the Boston Pizza at 200th & #1) Would be great to have you out there. I can definitely print you Prusa parts. Johnby johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
I'm in for the 11th too!by johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
Replicator G. Scale then save then slice. Although this has been my process for the MakerBot so far but I plan on using the same process with the Prusa. I like it because the grid shows the size relative to the build platform I'm using so I have a good idea of how big the object will be and with experience, (approximately) how long it will take.by johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. Please PM me if you're planning on coming to my place...here's the details: Sunday, Dec 4th 1pm Port Coquitlam I'll send you a map and address details privately I'll get your help to finish my Prusa build...we can also play with the MakerBot. Some of you have offered tool assistance and I'll mention those items to you in the PM.by johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
It's funny...you posted this message and all of a sudden my rss feed for this group comes alive. There definitetly seems to be something wrong with the config of this group...I've subbed to other sections of the forums via rss and get all the replies automatically...but this group, I just get new topics only. I have to manually follow each topic for replies via email.by johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
Yup....it's still definitely happening. Might have some friends that do 3d printing on pro machines come by too...they are very interested in the print quality we're getting so feel free to bring some sample prints.by johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
Unfortunately I've got my work Christmas party on the 7th so I won't be able to attendby johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
Looks an awful lot like Mixshop.com - even the photos are the same, but in some cases, slightly less quality images. I wonder if there is any affiliation?by johnbiehler - General Mendel Topics
I think due to the short notice and availability (plus something just came up for me on Sunday morning now), I'm going to postpone the build party until next Sunday (Dec 4th). Does that work for everyone?by johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
Let's say 1pm on Sunday in Port Coquitlam. I'll DM everyone who's in my address details. Yes, there is definitely something wonky with the FV forum rss feed...by johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
It could also happen Saturday afternoon/evening (5pm onward?) if that works better for folks.by johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
Just wondering if you guys would be interested in helping me finish my Prusa build this Sunday at my place in PoCo? I've still got questions and know between us all we can get it done. We can even watch the Grey Cup while we're at it. I'll get some beer & pizza too.by johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
Sorry guys. I'm on day 2 of a bout with a cold/flu thing. I'm not going to make it out tonight, as much as I want to.by johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
Just throwing this out there: do we want to have the meeting on Nov 26 during the day rather than a Wed night to give us more time to 'play' assuming we go to the Library?by johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
For what it's worth...I'm about a 15 minute drive from the Braid Skytrain station.by johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
Do we want this next meeting to be a longer (3-5 hours) 'play with a machine' meeting rather than just a chat like last night (which was great by the way!). If so, we should look into booking one of those library rooms as Brad mentioned or elsewhere. I don't care where in the GVRD we have it since this will be worth driving for. I'll put this out there again...I'm happy to offer my place in Porby johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
I recently bought the exact same fan for the same purpose! Have you posted the mount you made to Thingiverse yet? It looks useful as I'm still building my Prusa and haven't settled on a home for the fan yet.by johnbiehler - General

I can say that Replicator G, pronterface et all works perfectly fine on my two Macs (one running Lion and one Snow Leopard)...My Prusa isn't printing yet (still building the extruder) but the RAMPS board talks perfectly fine to either computer I have tried as does my MakerBot Thing-O-Matic. Perhaps it's Grumpy Mike's Mac that is different? Slamming a community of people & their free effortsby johnbiehler - General
I bought most of my Prusa kit from Mixshop. When I started though, they didn't offer as much as they do now. I'm in Vancouver so the shipping and lack of customs charges was great...shipping was basic expresspost cost and very reasonable. I only had a couple minor issues: - the aluminum thick sheet I bought was missing the holes for the belt clamps (I just drilled them myself) and were prettyby johnbiehler - General
Woot! Thanks for all your efforts to get this forum setup, Brad! And congrats on the MakerBot feature about your Jack-in-the-box! Johnby johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
I'm good with either date but my vote is for the 9th if I had to choose. Johnby johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
Check out this thread for some locals (including me) with parts available: Mine are for a metric Prusa Mendel but could easily print a set for whichever version you're planning on building. As I mention in that thread, I'm about 1/2 way through my Prusa build...but already have a MakerBot up and running for printing. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.by johnbiehler - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
Hi Angelina. I'm in the middle of my prusa build (which I'm documenting on my blog) and have a Makerbot Thingomatic. As Brad mentioned, there are a bunch of us out in the burbs that just started meeting and a few of us have parts already printed. I've got a complete (metric) set in red ABS that I was going to put on eBay: (the photo is missing 2 pulleys which should have been included) Letby johnbiehler - Canada, Vancouver RepRap User Group

I've purchased pretty much all my hardware from Mixshop for my Prusa. It all arrived in a timely fashion (Canada Post from Toronto to Vancouver). Just yesterday I received some extruder parts and was a little disappointed with the peek block quality...a little sloppily cut and not straight. Minor for sure but still. Also bought the aluminum thick sheet set and it's missing the holes for the belby johnbiehler - General
