You will have trouble wiring it up based on where the boards are placed on the Mendel. For example, how are you going to attach the PC power supply cable to the Mother board mounted on the top of the frame. I bought my Gen 3 electronics already assembled from MakerBot but will be making the necessary changes for the RepRap configuration. The software is the same except the MakerBot extruder useby rhmorrison - General

1/4" plexiglass would work. They use 5/6 mm MDF. Anything between 3 and 6 mm would work EXCEPT for the BED. This should be very flat and not liable to warp with head (e.g. plywood is generally not good for the bed). Otherwise feel free. Just like the majority of you future reprappers I am suffering from the chicken vs egg problem. I have everything I need to build the Mendel EXCEPT for the RP parts. I thought I would make one more try to obtain a complete set of Mendel RP parts before going the McWire route which I currently see as the best option. Obwohl ich auch dringend einem Satz Mendel Teilen brauche und wunsche mir so ein günstige angebot er sollte nicht der Aufwand unterschätzen. I would very much like to purchase a Complete set of Mendel printed parts for £195. I already have everything else: motors, electronics, steel bar, threaded bar and thick cut pieces. Still have to cut the thin cut pieces for the opto flags. If I am unable to obtain the parts in the next several weeks then I will be forced to go the RepStrap route.
