Hi Dave, the USB adapter was working fine until this week. yes tried it on 2 Pc's and it just isn't seen by either of them. I have ordered some more so no worries. but thanks for the adivice. regards Mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Dave, I have tried the card in several different usb and micro to sd adapters with the same results I have another card which works in the micro to sd adapters but not the usb one supplied with the original card.. its a right mix up.by Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
I replaced my card with a medion 32gb card I happened to see while out shopping! it has worked perfectly until this week, I tried to put it back in the pc to alter the config.g file and it now seems the my pc doesn't recognise it but the duet does.. how strange is that?by Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Ormerod168 I have done a similar job with the aluminium endplates with the acrylic inside I also lengthened them and made the distance between the bars greater to make the table more stable. regards Mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi, putting the extruder on the hot end might be possible for the single extruder version but when we want to use 2 or 3 extruders it's going to get very heavy, I was wondering if some sort of flexible drive could be used between the motors mounted on the arm and the hobbed end mounted on the extruder. regards mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Chaisaeng, It is heavier than before but so far it has performed perfectly and is a breeze to use, when I plan to increase the speed I will simply have to limit the rate of change to keep the forces on the bed to a reasonable level and I am planning to perforate the plate a lot more to lighten it. I wont be changing the speed until the firmware is stable, without the glitches highlighted elsby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Thanks for that, the circuit uses the same basic sensor element that I have here but not quite the circuit I need so I will go ahead and design something myself, the main problem with the design shown is that the analogue output change will be fairly small in my application and also I would prefer to have an on board psu to derive the 5V as the sensor is ratiometric it will suffer from variatiby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Chris1965 I couldn't check the link but it sounds like a hall effect proximity switch which will simply switch an output when a set level is reached, what I was looking for was an analogue output so that the device would replace the current IR sensor and allow for bed compensation. regards mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
As the supplied crimps wouldn't fit through the aperture I used some insulated crimps with long pins, these were long enough to go through the aperture and connect, I have attached a pic showing the original ferule and the readily available crimp I used together with a longer tab type that is also available, the original crimp is approx. 8.5mm the ones I used are 11.5 mm and the long tab type atby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi dc42 my preference is kit 5 thanksby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
@ treth, hi I just spotted your post regarding this, I have applications using pid where an overshoot will cause a mechanical failure similar to a head crash on a hard drive, in those instances the integral term error has to be removed when the target value is achieved to prevent damage, PID is normally about averaging speed control over time where overshoot to catch up isn't a problem. Hi Looking at the duet board shown in www.think3dprint3d.com it appears to have terminal blocks in place of the plug in connections used on the duet supplied to us I ma wondering if that's correct or not. regards Mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi tru168 I was more thinking a very thin sheet of steel under the glass and putting a magnet behind the sensor the steel will alter the path of the magnetic field as it aproaxhes the steel plate, the steel can either be just at the corners or over the entire bed. Regards Mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Put me down for a fully populated one pleaseby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Marc, there is a jumper position near the top left corner of the board marked JP9 which has to shorted to operate the internal 5v PSU, on some early boards this doesn't work due to some resistors fitted in the wrong orientation but later boards should be ok. The fan runs continuously much to the annoyance of some on this forum who are finding ways to change it, I am sure one of them will direby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
For me it would be ideal because I have an aluminium bed fixed at 4 points on a wider set of rails so I only need to set the z height on one corner as the others have been accurately levelled and do not move. regards mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
One other possibility is using a low cost linear hall effect sensor such as the one detailed in the attachment, this can be used in 2 ways either by embedding small magnets just below the glass or by putting a magnet behind the sensor and sensing a thin layer or strip of magnetic material on or below the glass both methods would be none contact. I currently use the above to sense movement in anby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
I agree Radian the only worrying factor is airflow and temperature gradients etc between the sensor and the bed but if measured at a known temp with the bed heating cycle not started it could be accurate. Best regards Mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Radian it looks like a fairly constant change so you may be able to compensate for it depending on the effects on the transducer. regards Mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Radian, the only reason I had so far discounted ultrasonics is that the speed of sound is affected by temperature but I am unsure how much of an effect it would be. regards mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Mat, thanks for that everything is working now, looking forward to dc42 sorting out the duet webserver that would be a great enhancement. best regards Mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Matt , i just checked github and according to the code the remote version is labelled as version 0.62 might just be a typo though Regards Mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Matt I have been doing this for weeks the same way, I have tried it again downloaded from your github and it still comes out as version 0.62. regards Mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
HI Mat, I am using windows 7 and chrome, I downloaded version 0.65 but it reports as being 0.62 at the top of the page.by Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi I have just finished rebuilding the duet box after fixing the 5V resistor issue and on turning the system back on I am getting the same results as MR.Burns it seems ok through pronterface but I cant get to the connect stage with the web interface, this is with or without the 5V link in place and with usb connected. regards Mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
thanks ormerod168 I will check it out, I am just rebuilding after doing the 5v psu repair to the circuit boardby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
HI ormerod168 and dc42, looks like I will have to learn more about the slicr3 settings I have Iamburny settings there at the moment but that doesn't change the results for this one, its as if it scrunches up on the corners and stretches out on the straights and ends. regards mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Paulham, I didn't have the retract enabled. my question relates to the wall thickness change as to whether the change is due to slicr not sending the right extruder feed info or some problem with the ormerod firmware . regards Mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
@ ormerod168 Hi I have some material for insulation I will be testing, its a ceramic blanket material designed for insulating furnaces. you have to carful what you buy as some of this stuff is carcinogenic. I had some on hand from an earlier project and as you can see from the picture I can laser cut it to shape, its about 2mm thick and will handle up to about 1800 degrees c regards Mike Eby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi I have been running the thin wall test to determine the difference between different filaments I have here, the problem I am getting is that the wall thickness varies from 0.55 on the curved sections then down to almost 0.3 mm where the walls join is this a printer firmware issue or a slicr3 error? thanks Mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
