Firstly let me say that having received dc42's Hotend Board v2 and I am impressed at the whole solution, it I was easy to install and on the whole works great. However I am having trouble getting Z homing working correctly. I have followed the steps listed here: After having added my G31 command to my config (G31 Z1.25 P500) I attempt to home Z (or home all) and I get to a certain postition abby stuart576 - Ormerod
QuoteVortyZA I haven't used Kapton tape for more than a year now - I use 'extreme hold' hairspray straight on the glass for PLA and haven't needed anything else since I started that. I found the Kapton was difficult to source, expensive when you could, was difficult to apply nicely and caused artifacts on the print - pieces dislodging and sticking to the print, or causing little lines from accideby stuart576 - Ormerod
The 5th levelling point and 150% first layer extrusion width seem to have sorted it all out. Thanks guys.by stuart576 - Ormerod
Quoteormerod168 Quotestuart576..Also, since I have upgraded, I attempted to print some circular pieces today, and they are not coming out circular (see attached). My first thought was that one of my belts had come loose, but I have checked, then re-tightened both my X and Y carriage belts and the issue is still there, do you have any idea what is causing this?.. pulley slipping on stepper axle?by stuart576 - Ormerod
Quotedc42 Yes, it does include that bug, and it seems to be working for me (although I'm running 1.00p, not 1.00o). I've just done this test: 1. Home all 2. Send G1 X200 F10000 to make the head move at high speed. 3. Home all again. 4. Send G1 X200. The high speed is remembered. I have just done this test (using Home X instead) and it works as you intend. However it doesn't work if I do notby stuart576 - Ormerod
I'll give the sanding a go. I take it that the rougher surface increases adhesion? I have reset my first layer width to 150%, I don't know when that changed. I found out about the extra P4 just a few minutes ago, out of curiousity can I add as many points as I want?by stuart576 - Ormerod
If you have checked continuity on the loom and the motor then I would also say that there is something wrong with the Duet. With the Z-probe I would perform some continuity checks first as well.by stuart576 - Ormerod
So when printing large areas of infill, typically with long strokes, with my 0.3mm nozzle I tend to get a rippling effect where the line doesn't adhere to the bed properly. From experimenting I've found that this can be much reduced by dialling down the print speed, however my first layer infill speeds are 12.5mm/s and even at half that speed I still get some rippling. This effect doesn't occur wby stuart576 - Ormerod
dc42, I have just updated to 1.00o-dc42 from 1.00m-dc42 and in the release of 1.00l-dc42 you mentioned that the bug that caused feed rate to not be restored sometimes after running a macro has been fixed. Does this include the feed rate not being restored after homing? If so then the bug still seem to be present when I have homed my axes, if not then, nevermind .by stuart576 - Ormerod
The issue doesn't appear to manifest when using my 0.3mm nozzle, and this is the first time I have used my 0.5mm nozzle since upgrading to your new firmware. Could it be that my extruder calibration is out by a small enough amount not to be noticeable with a 0.3mm nozzle but becomes apparent with a larger nozzle? Slic3r should work out the extrusion rate based on nozzle size right?by stuart576 - Ormerod
Ok, more testing done. Turns out it is over-extruding regardless. Here is a picture of a print where the first layer was done at 100% speed (first layer speed set to 15mm/s, 0.24mm layer height) and then the second layer (and all other layers) printed at 30mm/s, 0.4mm layer height. (inches for scale). As you can see, from the extruder over-extruding eventually the hobbed bolt loses all grip onby stuart576 - Ormerod
I have just tried out 1.00m with zombiepantslol's new web interface 1.02 and it's overall really good (keep up the good work). However (sorry), I have noticed a new potential bug. If I start a print at 100% Speed Factor, then speed it up (In my case for the first layer), then after the first layer/some amount of time slow the Speed Factor back down, the extrusion rate does not seem to drop accorby stuart576 - Ormerod
Yes that's right, am I correct in my understanding that you either use the EAtoR plugin or set M82 in your start gcode?by stuart576 - Ormerod
Yes, I have changed the nozzle to 0.3mm (I am currently printing fairly detailed pieces), this works great for me in Slic3r.by stuart576 - Ormerod
So I decided to try out Cura, I have been using Slic3r up until now. I wanted better support generation for my prints so I thought I'd give Cura a try. I have managed to get all the settings sorted (copied from Slic3r) except extrusion. Now initially it was trying to extrude super fast. I fixed this with adding M82 to my start gcode, great! Now the problem is that it is under extruding, barely eby stuart576 - Ormerod
Thanks for the prompt reply, I reversed the X-motor wiring, it is no longer inverted. I have managed to print some fiddly bits with the first layer printed slowly, which is what I was after, thanks. Also, sometimes, I can't seem to replicate it on demand, upon moving the head position manually (only x or y, z is fine) it travels really slowly, after travelling fine a few moments earlier. Any idby stuart576 - Ormerod
So I took the plunge and have switched to dc42-firmware. I've just cloned the repo and I'm using 1.00k. My X-Axis is now inverted and from what I have read this is to match the Ormerod 2 wiring. But I cannot seem to work out what I need to do to fix this, if someone could point me in the right direction that'd be great. Thanksby stuart576 - Ormerod
I am running stock 0.78c firmware on my Ormerod 1. I have been trying to lower the print speed in the settings in Slic3r but changing the speeds to any number does nothing. The speed of the print doesn't change. Is there something I need to put in the printer's config? What am I missing/doing wrong? Thanksby stuart576 - Ormerod
