Just printed my new ABS that was declared as clear transparent. Quite a bummer. After print it was far from transparent. More like light whitish
So I guess I will have a go at PETG after all. Hope for better result on that.

I just found a supplier that sell transparent ABS. I'll try it out and see just how transparent it is

Thanks for feedback. Guess I'll just have to go ahead and try it out. The most worry I have is if there is problem with filament stuck/clog in nozzle.

oki thanks for feedback. 30-45 speed bit lame What printer you have ?
I run 50 like for safe level.. Do you mean lower than
50 is to make PETG work ?
What speed do you run for e.g. ABS ?

Need transparant filament. My supplier says he only have for PETG.
I mostly use ABS, sometimes PLA.
Haven't tried PETG
Any issues for Prusa i3 and PETG ?
Seen some comments on nozzle clug up and more sensetive to printing parameters
What's your latest on PETG ?

Only thing I can figure is that I used nozzle size 0.5 at the beginning ... then changed it to 0.4 when I realized ... could that provoke geting stuck ???
If you're saying Cura was set to use a 0.5 nozzle when you physically had a 0.4 installed, that could potentially cause it. Trying to push more filament out of a smaller hole could cause excessive back pressure

Anyway, I just DID refurbish my 0.4 nozzle and got it going again.
Disturbing though I have no clue why it got blocked to start with.
Ought to be connected to that I change from basic Prusa plastic cold end to my current alu extruder.
Something with alu extruder that I haven't understood yet ... ??

I tried long time ago to refurbish stuck nozzles. I got them working again but not for very long.
So since then I haven't bothered to try again.
What's your take on it. Did you do any long lasting refurbish ?
Thanks

I print ABS on 240 degree ... also tried now on 235
Cool fan on 100% yes
Hm , so you think it's an issue what quality I have on my 3 mm filament ... not sure it has been workin fine 2 years on my non alu extruder
It's 3 mm for sure if I measure
Thanks for feedback

Pretty newbie to alu extruder ... no luck with my
E3D v6 HotEnd Full Kit - 3.0mm Direct Genuine E3D
It seemed fine for a starter but after some 20 hours of printing filament stopped feeding.
I loosened the nozzle (0.4) and it was stuck .... filament feeding with nozzle gone was fine.
I had the same type of problem with another alu extruder before this one but that might be due to I had no cool

Thanks for feedback. So I changed and connected fan to Electronics always ON.
Seem like more safe. I guess I was not thinking through when I decided to connect to extruder heat power.
Since extruder heat go off/on during printing ... but cooling you would like to have always on

Anyway, since I'm nobie on this alu type extruder. Is it true all of them need to have a cooling fan to work proper ?

I ended up connecting fan in parallell with the extruder heating power
It's working for a starter anyway
I hope this will work also when I've been printing for longer time

Hi
I just had delivery of
E3D v6 HotEnd Full Kit - 3.0mm Direct Genuine E3D
Before I just had the very basic hot end delivered with my Prusa i3 kit
This one has a fan for cooling the extruder. Is it really needed for printing ABS at temp 235 degree ?
Manual say it should connect to power D9 (same as cooling fan power for printarea)
Seems strange to me. If I need cooling of heat sink fan should

My latest finding is another printout with flow rate at 100% seems all good
No user Wait mess
Just what get me curious is, can some malfunction in printing like trigger this LED message
From what I googeled it's just some g-code for launching this message
So is it in the Firmware some event that will trigger it ..... ???

Does not look like uneven bed to me. My guessing is you are just a little too near bed when printing 1st layer.
You can adjust that in your start code just for testing
This code will rise 0.1 mm
;M109 S{print_temperature} ;Uncomment to add your own temperature line
G21 ;metric values
G90 ;absolute positioning
M82 ;set extruder to absolute mode
M107 ;start with the fan

If you move your object in Cura before printing, does it effect where it gets printed ?

What pops up in my mind is if you look at the start code in Cura
I have like default
G90 ;absolute positioning
Do you have the same ?
Guess if you have relative positioning maybe you get that problem of yours ...

Suddenly for one special design I get intermittent "Wait for user .... " message in LED display. Printing stopped.
I click the LED knob and it continues to print. Sofar I just had it when printing the 1st layer.
For a design that is printing almost max of my printing limits. First layer is a 180 mm diameter circle.
During 1st layer I can have this happen 4-8 times. It always happens at the turni

What happens if you edit G-code while code is running
Like can you insert code someplace after running code line and get it working ?

Did some organized testing on this with a 40x40 mm test object
The uneven thick/thin printout of layer 1 simply turned out to be misadjusted Z home.
Kinda what Floyd did indicate early on. My Z home was -0.4 mm
With layer height 0.3 that got my first layer print to start at physical Z -0.1
I added Z offset in steps of 0.1
Physical Z pos

On my Prusa both heater and thermistor is placed in drilled holes in the hot end body. Don't know if that is possible to implement on yours
