Im having trouble with my first layer, when the printer lays down the filament each line is not touching. but every layer after the first is perfect. this is causing my prints to warp please help. I'm not sure what I have done because my printer has been printing fine until last week. I'm running a prusa mendel v2 with buda nozzle. 3mm abs filament nozzle temp: 230 nozzle dia: 0.5 nozzle cleby hitman1131 - Printing
hi, Im printing with a prusa v2 mendel but I am having trouble with the alignment of the x axis belt. at the motor end the belt is rubbing on the motor. it seems to me like the motor needs to be moved back further from the mount. or perhaps the belt is located in a bad spot on the x carriage please see attached picture as its a little hard to explain. is this normal for this model or haby hitman1131 - Reprappers
anyone running buda style nozzles by lulzbot? im looking to upgrade from my j-head as its give me a lot of trouble over the years. I am unsure of the difference between buda v1.2 and v2.0 other then the heat sink. is it worth the extra money to get the 2.0? im printing with 3mm abs mostly but would like to start trying other filaments especially the ninja flex cheers ash.by hitman1131 - General
hey I am just getting back into my 3d printer after 12 months of not touching it. a lot has progressed. what is the best extruders to be using at the moment? I am printing myself an Prusa i3 and I would like to try something different from my prusa v2 which has a greg wades accessible extruder. I see a lot of printers have direct drive extruders now, is there benefits with this? I like theby hitman1131 - Reprappers
I did have my wires removed from the ramps board while testing for resistance. so it was all good for some unknown reason it starting working again tonight, I was having power supply issues with the bed not heating well so I added a second power supply to break up the hbp and the rest of the printer and the hot end is now working.. I'm not sure why this could fix it. all I can think of is it wby hitman1131 - Reprappers
I have checked my connections of my hot end, all connections are tight and im getting 5.6ohm through the resistor. is my ramps board dead??by hitman1131 - Reprappers
I was printing fine all night until during a print the temperature of the hit end just started to drop. Now it will not heat at all. I'm driving it with a ramps 1.4 board. The thermistor is still working as it displayed the hot end dropping in temp and now displays room temperature. What is likely to cause this to fail in this was? Cheap components? ie hot end resistor or ramps board? Could mby hitman1131 - Reprappers
I had trouble with my y axis drifting after about 6 layers last night, mine was due to having the printer plugged into a usb 3.0 port on my pc.by hitman1131 - Reprappers
have you got both the hot end thermistor and heated bed thermistor connect? please check these connections.by hitman1131 - Reprappers
I have a mk2 HBP and im having trouble getting it to heat up to 110-120 degrees. I have previously used a 33A 12v power supply of eBay which did work slowly but the power supply failed. I have resorted back to my old pc power supply its a 550W but it doesn't seem to warm up the bed to 110-120 which I previously run at. It reaches about 105 degrees and cant get any hotter. thanks for clearing that up nophead. i've been doing more tests and i have great success at 0.25 layer height if i try 0.3 it tends to fail. so for now i will stick with 0.25mm layer height and buy a 0.5mm nozzle for test printing then swap back to the 0.35 for a bit of quality. when you say "50mm/s is the fastest I use for ABS through a J-Head with a 0.35mm nozzle." are you refering to printerby hitman1131 - Reprappers
i use a dial indicator on my heated bed so it is with in 0.05mm across the bed. also this is a brand new nozzle (forgot to mention that) as i thought it may have been clogged just as you are saying sheck626. so i have been doing some research and from what i have found if i am using a 0.35 hotend i should not use a layer hight of more then 80% of that size. what is peoples experience with this?by hitman1131 - Reprappers
I've doubled checked my E steps and the settings for fillament are all correct. i have not tried a fan to cool the filament yet as i dont believe this is my problem. i have done a few test prints today and from what i can tell when i want to do 80% infill with rectilinear the whole printer appears to go faster when doing this fill compared to honeycomb infill. i am running the defualt speed setby hitman1131 - Reprappers
Im having an issue with printing parts with 100% infill or even close to that, if I print anything above about 60% infill my hobbed bolt seems to chew out the filament. It seems worse when I use the line Infills, at the moment I am doing prints as large as 80x80x80 with 40% honeycomb and it works like a charm, once I try these exact same prints at 80% infill it gets to about 4-5 layers high andby hitman1131 - Reprappers
Be sure your temperature is high enough. Heat it up till the point it just dribbles out of your hot end a little, then back it off about 5 degrees. Good luck, ash.by hitman1131 - Reprappers
i've been looking at the option of 2 color 3d prints, im using ramps so i have the extra driver for another extruder and run marlin firmware. my question is how to you draw a multi color stl file? i currently draw my 3d images in google sketchup would i have to find a new software for this? cheers, ash.by hitman1131 - General
Hello, I am using a v2 prusa with ramps and marlin firmware and pronterface. Everything so far seems great except the one issue i am having is prints curling. I am using a mk1 hbp and printing onto glass with kapton tape. im using marlin firmware and makerfarm EPCOS 100k thermistor. I believe my issue is the bed is not getting to the correct temp of 110 degrees as i have looked at it uby hitman1131 - Reprappers
Thanks shadow, I got it all sorted after some trial and error with these numbers. I had found this line you have shown me but was unaware each number, was a new axis. For future reference how can I get closer with knowing pulley sizes and steps? My steppers are 1.8 degree steppers, I don't know what micro stepping they are set up for (how can I check?) and im using 16 tooth and t2.5 belt for xby hitman1131 - Reprappers
Hi I have just finished building my prusa v2 with ramps 1.4 running the latest marlin firmware from I am wondering what the procedure is when I send a print to the printer. I'm using pronterface and slicer to control it. What I see is all axis home, hit home limits and come off it by 5mm or so and back onto home limit Then my print waits for hbp and extruded temp to come up to desired tempsby hitman1131 - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Fixed the issue with the motor noise. it was actually my z axis current setting on my pololu driver, thanks for pointing me in the right direction appdev007 Still cannot find enough details on calibrating the movements if anyone can help please. Thanks ash.by hitman1131 - Reprappers
I have a similar problem, when I try to do a print I get the same thing as you, only I have my temp manually set at 240, when I press print it will do what your getting till it drops down to 200 degrees then it starts. I'm assuming I'm setting up my temp wrong in slicer and the read outs showing the temp drop is the printer taking itself to the determined temp for the print, try and double checkby hitman1131 - Reprappers
Hi reprap world, I have little experience with reprap 3d printers I purchased a maker farm prusa v2 some time ago running printrboard. Back in early 2012 I have just finished printing up all the components and build a new prusa v2 I have decided to run ramps 1.4 with marlin firmware for this build. fantastic this sounds kinda easy but i am still new to all of the software, so i have to manually add it to the gcode that skienforge or slicer makes when i slice the object? or does one of the programs let u run some codes at the end of a print automaticly like your doing with the fan nophead? as for the firmware, i have a little c program experience so i think i could update this no probleby hitman1131 - General
hello reprappers, im in the process of building another prusa mendel for myself, using ramps 1.4 but i'd like to add a buzzer/sounder to it to let me know when a print has finished. im not sure where to start with this mod, i assume im going to have to add an output in the firmware and assign it to a pin, but how would i tell that pin to activate when the print finishes? is this again done in fiby hitman1131 - General
hello again reprappers, i've been trying to get rid of this annoying drizzle i am getting, after each layer i get build up as it lifts the z axis (major known problem but i cannot find the fix) and after a print finnishes or i pause it to change colour i get about 15mm of dribble coming out of my j-head, any ideas? im running a prusa mendel with: heated bed, abs filament, 0.35mm j-head nozzle,by hitman1131 - Printing

hi from melbourne australia im looking at printing myself another printer from my prusa, but i want to try source some local hotends but i havent had much success on google =( if anyone is making or bulk ordering some hot ends i'd like to buy 2. im after a j-head style as this is what i use atm with great success with a inner ptfe tube that allows for the use of 1.75mm filament. thanks, ash.by hitman1131 - Wanted
