I read elsewhere where certain printing features are difficult to implement on an SD driven arduino due to lack of ram memory. I'm wondering if this feature might fall under that category. as you're winding your way through the geode file on the SD, if you stop it may be difficult to pick up where you left off. it seems you'd have to save the current line when you stop and re-read the geode fiby robr45acp - Repetier
I have a mendel configuration and when I hit pause while printing from SD it homes x then z. upon selecting "continue" from the lcd menu, the z head does NOT return to the left off model height but remains at z=0 and crashes into the model. this is version 0.91by robr45acp - Repetier
Hmm, what is the fate of the macintosh version of the host? I noticed it has not be updated in a very long time. closing the source seems to close the mac door as well.by robr45acp - Repetier
it should be an LM1117 right next to the power jack on the mega. get em from ebay. be careful when you remove the original. snip the 3 leads, then add some solder when hot and gently remove. then heat the big tab, add solder then gently lift it off. if you try to lift the leads without adding 60/40 solder the rohs solder wont melt well and you risk tearing the surface mount pads off of the boaby robr45acp - Reprappers
sounds like your arduino has other problems. time to switch to your spare. maybe the onboard usb translator is damaged. I snipped the D1 diode on my ramps card and powered my arduino with an external 6V supply. it works as expected but more importantly it eliminated the excessive heat buildup under regulator on the arduino board. by the way, your original problem was a rogue heatsink. I hopby robr45acp - RAMPS Electronics
yep, that is the culprit. if you plug 5V into the barrel connector and the mega works, then its likely the 5V regulator is bad. the ramps sends 12V to the mega and that is directed into that regulator which makes 5V which powers the mega and the LCD. if the regulator goes out, you loose 5V and the mega and LCD stop working. if you can verify that the mega still works with external 5V then youby robr45acp - RAMPS Electronics
sounds like you wounded your voltage regulator residing on your arduino mega. its the 3 legged + 1 tab chip right next to the round barrel power jack on the arduino. it's labeled AMS1117. it'll put out 5V at 1A and typically gets the arduino board pretty hot under normal printing use. The regulator will burn out if you look at it cross eyed so have several spares on hand (get a 10 pack on ebaby robr45acp - RAMPS Electronics

what firmware are you using? im using repetier host on a 20x20x20 mendel style with no problems. I'm using pololu drivers (not stepstick) on high torque nema 17s.by robr45acp - Printing
if you're closed and you put out a good product. I'll buy it. count me in for the long haul. just don't put backdoors in and send sneaky data to the NSA. that would piss me off.by robr45acp - Repetier
you can set up a ground loop between your computer and your arduino if you dont power both from the same circuit. the AMS1117 (5v regulator) can easily die from shorting +5 to gnd (been there, done that) and may also get burnt with a ground loop. you can order qty 10 AMS1117 5V on ebay for $2.00. they come in handy, course you need to know your way around a soldering ironby robr45acp - RAMPS Electronics
by the way, I have a printer capable of printing in a 500mm x 500mm x 500mm volume. be glad to code, test and tweak. it's currently setup for abs at 200x200x500by robr45acp - Repetier
I also would like to see an offset matrix applied to the bed leveling routine (similar to runninfarmer's observation). This would allow the system to measure z offsets at specific grid intervals to fill the matrix. Then when printing the first 5 layers or so, you would apply the offsets (interpolating between the matrix points in x-y to obtain z estimates). Also you could apply an offset matrixby robr45acp - Repetier
