Hola, Alguien en mexico puede venderme las partes imprimidos? Estoy en DF. Can anyone in Mexico sell me a set of printed parts? I'm in DF. Gracias! Ralphby ralphthompson - Mexico RepRap User Group
I was having this exact problem, my extruder motor and heater both work as expected independantly, but if I switch the heater on and then the extruder, the software stops responding. Looking through the code in the extruder.pde tab, I think what is happening is the software gets stuck in a loop while it waits for the heater to reach temperature. Set your target temp to 60 (as a test), wait for iby ralphthompson - RepRap Host
Just to check, theres 2 instances of a check on step_en_pin in the extruder sketch: if( step_en_pin < 0) and if(step_en_pin >= 0) so if( step_en_pin < 0) becomes if( step_en_pin < 0 || step_en_pin == 255 ) and if( step_en_pin >= 0) becomes if( step_en_pin >= 0 && step_en_pin != 255) correct? Good spot with the commented out sanguino lines btw :-) Ralphby ralphthompson - RepRap Host
I did a clean install of Ubuntu (intrepid) and it seems to work now. Dont know what was wrong, could have been something I had installed on hardy that was conflicting with the comms. For the record, the working system is using: Ubuntu 8.10 Arduino IDE 15 Arduino Decimelia Gcode interpreter svn 2661by ralphthompson - RepRap Host
As far as I know I'm using a stable version of the firmware, I followed the link to sourceforge from the build instructions - do you know where I can find the latest non-SVN version?by ralphthompson - RepRap Host
You can find details of the host software here: The installation instructions are down at the bottom. Ralphby ralphthompson - EMC2
Hmm so i set debug and comms debug to true in the preferences, and the host and arduino seem to be communicating happily until I try to send a command. At the start I get temperature requested/recieved messages e.g. comms: G-code: M105; get temperature queued [29.852s/4999ms] comms: G-code: M105 dequeued and sent [29.855s/3ms] comms: GCodeWriter.waitForOK() - temperature reading: T:28 [29.876s/2by ralphthompson - RepRap Host
Thanks, sorry for the dopey post. I've got rid of the locking assertion error, but still no joy with the host software. I am still getting the same error message on load about GLX though - Java 3D WARNING : reported GLX version = 1.2 GLX version 1.3 or higher is required The reported version number may be incorrect. There is a known ATI driver bug in glXQueryVersion that incorrectby ralphthompson - RepRap Host
My comms test worked fine too. The locking error isn't from multiple programs trying to access the USB, I just checked running the host software on its own, with the arduino plugged in and without, and I get the same error as before both times. Confusing :-/ My system is Ubuntu 8.04, arduino IDE 13, java v1.5 using Arduino decimeila.by ralphthompson - RepRap Host
Yep, it seems much happier after trimming the current. I note this step has already been added to the latest SMD board build instructions :-)by ralphthompson - Mechanics
Hello, I think I've got all the firmware compiled and uploaded successfully. My only remaining problem is, nothing happens. There is no response from any instructions sent using the host software. All the individual boards have been tested and work as expected, so I'm guessing that I havn't configured the host correctly? When I run it in terminal, I get a locking assertion failure: Locking asseby ralphthompson - RepRap Host
Thanks Marius, I hadn't clocked it was out of date. Ralphby ralphthompson - RepRap Host

Hey, I found a 3D scanner on instructables: www.instructables.com/id/3-D-Laser-Scanner/ the prospect of scanning an object in and printing another copy is pretty exciting :-) Anyone seen any other ways of reverse engineering something? Ralphby ralphthompson - Reprappers
I think part of the problem is finding a metal that has good enough properties to be any use, but a low enough melting point to be extruded. E.g solder comes in filament form and melts easily, but has very poor mechanical properties. Aluminium has great properties but melts at 600 degrees. Wax investment casting is a pretty standard application of rapid prototyping in industry which could be a mby ralphthompson - Mechanics
Hi, Thanks for your suggestions. I'm using the heatsinks that came with the board (RRRF SMD v1.1). I did notice the heatsinks on those boards seemed to get very hot very fast. Overheating would explain why it works as expected for somewhere between 10-30 secs from cold before it starts behaving oddly. It seems strange that any power at all is being disappated by the heatsinks, since the board hby ralphthompson - Mechanics
Hello, I'm using the single arduino setup, with everything built more or less. I'm testing various individual parts of the electronics with all boards wired in to arduino and powered. When I test something, e.g. opto endstop test code on the board build page, the stepper motors seem to move by themselves. Anyone else experienced this, or better still, know how to fix it? they dont physically movby ralphthompson - Mechanics

Hi, I hope someone can help me. Ive more or less finished the electronics, everything is wired in. I'm trying to compile the firmware for arduino 0011, using the latest gcode compiler (2558). In the arduino development program, all the tabs for the gcode opened as expected. ive made changes as per the instructions on the electronics page, and saved the sketchs. But, when i try to compile, I keeby ralphthompson - Controllers
I've been totally baffled for a while about which java version I needed - is 1.5 the same as 5? the java archives have the following JRE type files: JDK/JRE - 6 JDK/JRE - 5.0 J2SDK/J2RE - 1.4 J2SDK - 1.3 J2RE - 1.3 J2SDK - 1.2 J2RE - 1.2 I found clarification here: good luck ;-) ralphby ralphthompson - RepRap Host
how optional are the sync wires? is there any performance loss by not connecting them?by ralphthompson - Controllers
hello everyone, i've just started building a reprap as a final year project, and i could defiantly do with a voice or two of experience. are you still planning to meet up? im based in manchester, so sheffield would be ok for me. ralphby ralphthompson - United Kingdom RepRap User Group
success! thanks a lot. i tried that first fix, it removed some of the errors (the locking assertion bit) but it still wouldnt run. i downloaded and reinstalled the sun-java-6 jdk and did $ update-java-alternatives --set java-6-sun and went through the procedure from the installation instructions again, and now it seems happy. thank you! ralphby ralphthompson - RepRap Host
Hi, I've been trying to install the reprap host software on ubuntu. I have just finished the third try, with no success. When I try to run the software, I get a screen dump (see below), including 'locking assertion failure'. a window appears telling me my serial cable is not connected. when i click ok it goes back to a command prompt. I'm wondering if i have conflicting versions of java, here iby ralphthompson - RepRap Host
id like to see a vessel to process old plastic into usable filament. i remember reading about a plan to make the plastic starch based, and then have some kind of processor to make your extrudant out of potatoes or whatever. did that turn out to be unfeasable?by ralphthompson - Let's design something!
