Manual manipulation shows that the stability of the effector is irregular. The flexibility around y axis is more than twice that around X axis. While near the right column, the flexibility is much higher than near other columns. And that show in prints, where it is near perfect on left side and with irregularities on right side. So, unequal angles will be abandoned and I will go back to equilaterby PRZ - Delta Machines
I finally found some dimmers under the research phrase 'digital AC dimmer' 1/ - looks ok 20 Euros + 8 euros shipping 2/ - Safety was questioned in forum (low/medium voltage distance) 3/ - looks bad - poor voltage separation, poor connection 4/ - only as a kit in 230V - probably for CE certification avoidanceby PRZ - Controllers
Using a halogen lamp on mains was my first idea, but for control you need a fast on/off switching that I am not sure you can get from a SSR. In principle, halogen lamp are controlled with angle phase dimmers, and I was searching one that I can control with a PWM output. It seems it does exist, but not as low cost parts. Maybe the use of angle phase dimmers is only to limit EMF emissions ? I haveby PRZ - Delta Machines
I will try to build some test parts. I have done a test with a vase double twist in spiral vase mode, which looks not bad, but since, I've seen there was some play in my carriages (not sufficiently tightened). It is only three days that the machine is working, so that is quite preliminary. Enclosed delta 3D printer 'D-Box' - see The printer is enclosed with air recycling through activated carbon filter This printer does have a particularity: its angles are not equal (120°) as on usual deltas This prototype have angles 135°, 90°, 135° but this will be modified, see below. I intend to install a chamber heater on my new printer driven by a Duet 0.8.5 board without extension. I prefer to use the Duet than an independant controller as with the chamber thermistor connected to the Duet, that may improve the safety and this can be directly managed from the web interface. Here we are, my new printer 'D-Box' is running and the great news is unequal angle delta works on the Duet!
I received yesterday a Duet 0.8.5 and flashed the firmware DC42 1.09k, said to improve ethernet speed transfer. I tested it with a SD card 16Gb Sandisk Ultra and I get the transfer speed slightly over 400 kb/sec. Wow ! That really improves usability. I had to reformat the SD card (FAT32) For comparison, the original SD card supplied by T3P3 with the board gives 40 kb/sec The SD card supplied wby PRZ - Controllers
The problem of Traxxas (and of other system either) is they need quite precise adjustment to have a good accuracy on the machine. The rod length adjustment is reasonably easy, but proper alignment of balls in plane is quite difficult, and most often, not really adjustable. The only reason for decrease of effector stability on large diameter is precisely the low angle of the 'pushing' arm. The stability outside the triangle decrease not because we are outside it but because the angle of the opposite arms is the lowest. By choosing an angle higher than the often used 20°, I improved the stability on all the largest diameter areas, and especially the area which is outby PRZ - Fisher
A note about longer arms and why I increased them: RRP specifies a maximum usable diameter of 150mm. With the original arms, that will drive to a minimum arm angle of 12.5°, which is very low, so drive to a high carriage speed and acceleration while printing in large diameter. So It is needed to reduce travel speed and may be acceleration to print near maximum diameter. With arms lengthened byby PRZ - Fisher
The total plastic weight for the three parts is approximately 30g (fill 40to 70%) The total printing time with layers 0.2 is approximately 2 hours. You could use thicker layers without any problems. While it is theorically possible to set the three parts on the Fisher bed and print in one go, this is way too close to the limits for the standard Fisher and I recommend to do two prints: - 1 printby PRZ - Fisher
There is no valid reason for skipping steps with PETG if it does not skip in PLA, as extrusion of PETG is far easier than PLA. However, temperature shall be much higher. The ease of extrusion is not the good parameter, which is the good adhesion. Good adhesion is obtained for temperature much higher than an easy extrusion > 30 C. To save space, I created a new spool on top installation, with spool support done with two skate bearings (608). That did not work on DC42 branch rev 1.09k. The command M577 is told to be invalid. Indeed, it is indicated on the reprap G-code page that this is valid for ZPL branch, without indication of validity on DC42 branch.
