from the touch screen i need Screen TX to Mainboard RX Screen RX to Mainboard TX Screen Ground to PSU Ground Screen 5v to PSU 5V line Edit: I have one more question that I am not really sure about, my connector has eight pins from my screen, four of them on one side are labled as tx rx gnd and 5v, what about the pins in the row next to them? I am 100% and totally lost at installing an lcd to the smoothieboard. Parts of the guide show up as not available and parts are just downright confusing.by Dr_aia - Smoothie
I purchased a smoothieboard x4 online and have it set up and mostly running with the exception of my lcd. I have been trying to build my printer for ages now and I am down to this last step before I call it quits and throw it away. My computer doesnt work worth a darn so usb and internet are not really options for running my printer, my solution was to buy an lcd display that can print from sd. Iby Dr_aia - Smoothie
Thank you! I will try this as soon as i can figure out how to edit my slicer settings.by Dr_aia - Reprappers
I tried that and it didn't do it, i grounded the aluminum foil to my chassis and to the grounds of my power cord, and both power supplies in my box. Problem still occurs. I am running the latest version of marlin, the display did work a couple years ago when I used it last as well, i had it in a storage box as i rebuilt my printer and ordered all new electronics for what turned out to be a prograby Dr_aia - Reprappers
I have a custom built 3d printer, I have been trying to finish the process of making it work and everything works finally! Except I cannot print anything. The printer has no heated bed, the extruder comes up to heat and holds fine, all the motors work, I can manually extrude plastic. When I load a file into pronterface my printer will home all the axis correctly and then stop. It just sits thereby Dr_aia - Reprappers
I have ramps 1.4 with marlin installed on my home built printer, I have an endstop for the top and bottom of each axis and have them configured correctly to the correct pins, I have checked each one with pronterface. My printer works as far as I can tell through sending moves through pronterface however my lcd shows total gibberish on the screen. I was able to solve the problem by turning down the maximum mm per second in the firmware. the motors were trying to turn to fast and therefore skipped every step.by Dr_aia - RAMPS Electronics
I have built a fairly large custom 3d printer but I cannot get my Z axis motors to move enough. I have a gearbox on both my z motors but seem to be unable to compensate in the firmware. The motors I have are 1.8 degrees per step and have a 5.18 gear ratio. My problem is that my rods will not turn far enough to bring the z up one mm. I have tried to compensate in the repetier firmware but seem toby Dr_aia - RAMPS Electronics
my rod is already a 2mm pitch rod, and I am not really sure how to connect an external driver. I have seen a few things about gearboxes, is this something that would work on my smaller motors?by Dr_aia - RAMPS Electronics
Hey, I have an arduino mega and a ramps 1.4 shield for my custom 3d printer. My problem is that a standard nema 17 motor is not strong enough to move my Z axis. I have been doing some research on attaching a bigger motor but I am confused about what I need. I have two nema 23 motors each take 3A but my ramps board only does 2A per coil but I dont know what that means and cant find anything. Pleasby Dr_aia - RAMPS Electronics
??? anything??? Anyone find anything? do I need to replace my board or find some other way of controlling my printer? I am building from scratch but have the same afull problem and I find no relief!!!!!!!!!!!! 3 hours of beeping and not stopping!by Dr_aia - General
I fixed that but now the lcd has this incessant noise that I cant figure out how to make stop! Does anyone know why this is happening?by Dr_aia - Reprappers
I have a ramps 1.4 board connected to an arduino mega 2560 but when I try to send the marlin firmware to the device I get the following error. Please help! "#error Ooops! Make sure you have 'Gen7' selected from the 'Tools-> Boards' menu."by Dr_aia - Reprappers
I solved it, I just needed to force it on. The one set of pins was bent over.by Dr_aia - General
I just bought an Arduino mega 256 as well as a ramps 1.4 board but they do not fit together. Am I just out my money or is there a way to fix this? The set of parallel pins fit perfectly but the row of pins at the top of the board opposite of the com ports are off just enough that I cant force it into place.by Dr_aia - General
