RADDS actually has an expansion board that gives 2 extra stepper drivers (8 in total) and is pretty easy to make at home. I am not sure if it has any firmware support though. But yeah, it breaks my heart to see how RAMPS-FD project was abandoned and sold by geeetech as-is in kinda zombie-state. I had a friend who was about to buy geeetech ramps-fd only because it is the cheapest 32-bit board. Myby toxuin - Controllers
He-he. I think I just fixed the file uploads. I thought it is not possible since UART is real slow, but then I read somewhere that Arduino can do UART on up to 2 Mbit. So this combined with HTML5 File API allows you to stream gcode right through ESP8266 without saving it on intermediate flash. Downsides: you will be basically DDOSing your poor ESP with ~100 requests per second. Assuming you're thby toxuin - Developers
How do you enclose a CoreXY that has a bowden tube sticking out vertically?.. My printer is pretty big (420x420mm) and bowden tube is about 500mm. To avoid sharp angles do I have to build a huge "roof" over this tube?..by toxuin - CoreXY Machines
Hey, community. I just had a very productive evening and "ported" the Duet web interface to ESP8266 chip. ESP8266 is a neat little arduino-like stamp-sized module that has 80Mhz 32-bit CPU with WiFi onboard. It has serial port, WiFi and 2-4 MB flash disk. Well, here comes a web panel for it! Means, now anyone can have an awesome web panel (credits to Christian Hammacher!), not only those who haby toxuin - Developers
"Open source in near future" software that has paid license pro version, lets you print only 30 models on trial. And there's a "give us some money so we can make more money" indiegogo campaign. No thanks! Seriously, what will be the license of that "open source" release? I couldn't find any mention of source code availability on your website. Actually, this stuff is not "open source in near futurby toxuin - Crowdfunding Projects Announcements
This sounds like an interesting project! My32-bit electronics is on the way and I do not have the aforementioned ENC28J60. I'll get one I guess and we'll see how it goes. I believe having a web interface on Due-based electronics for +$3 absolutely kicks ass! I don't think any other firmware has that. I am not that great with C++ though and seeing how awesomly strict your coding style is I start tby toxuin - Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
About the ethernet part: could we theoretically use something like 3$ ENC28J60 for boards that do not have ethernet on board?..by toxuin - Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
Quoterepetier Yes, since Host 1.5.0 and Server 0.65 this works very good. Macs are still on 0.56!by toxuin - Repetier
Add 4 el-cheapo servos that would turn screws to level bed. That's just NUTS. Make it move hotend up on retraction with solenoid. That's CRAAAAZYYY. Make it with DC motors with encoders only, no steppers. That's not your everyday crazy, that's ADVANCED crazy.by toxuin - Developers
Amazing! I have a arduino DUE and would be glad to test RADDS on RepRapFirmware. My printer currently running Mega+RAMPS setup, I was thinking about an upgrade. That's why I bought Due board. I don't mind paying shipping.by toxuin - Controllers
My guess here is that we would need some kind of simple additive to inkjet refills that would penetrate the plastic and evaporate quickly – to make this affordable (like if words "affordable" and "inkjet refills" can stand next to each other) we should use refills as those are widely available. For such additive acetone first comes to mind. It penetrates ABS and evaporates quickly. Does someone hby toxuin - Developers
I'm in Kamloops which is pretty close to Vancouver. I can print things of so-so quality. I'd mail you things if you'd pay for the shipping. PM me anyways.by toxuin - General
