I will add my 2cents. I've been printing with 618, amazing stuff, but almost impossible to do a large warp free print. Particularly what I was trying to print (solid object, quad frame). I contacted Taulman and he was more than willing to help. At the moment he only had his machines set up for t-glase and printed out my part on 3 different machines, and 3 different resolutions and sent them to mby Antslake - General
Quotebytemedwb Wow - I have always worried about this possibility. I have the wooden Makerfarm also. So I just went on to amazon and bought:Flame Defender - 12 KG - 7.7' coverage I don't worry as much about the type of short OP had but more the idea that the thermistor fails and a run away hot end ignites plastic. Quotebrnrd I think one way to route the wires safely to the carriage is to run the wires through a spring as was done in the Ord Bod. This would keep the wires from drooping down, and it would have avoided the problem that you encountered. I found that a plastic spiral wrap which I'm using now also works, but maybe not as good as a spring. I think I am going to try to incorporate something likeby Antslake - Safety & Best Practices
QuoteOhmarinus I just think it's incredibly dumb to let your wires run loose like that. Lesson learned I guess? A good lesson is a lesson where nobody got REALLY in trouble. I hope you manage to repair the machine Lucky guy! It would be dumb to run your wires loose. That's why I am pointing this out, my wires were not loose and were tied up. I was thinking along the same lines. I don't know how to program though. I wish I could have a sensor like that which would notify me on my phone. I already have an internet camera so I can check prints while I am out. But with this last thing I don't think I will be doing any unattended prints. The short took place in the wires that go to the extruder stepper motor, and it was the driver that went up in flames. The wires that go to the extruder stepper melted to the hot end. I like the idea of an automatic fire extinguisher. I was wondering if there was something like that out there.by Antslake - Safety & Best Practices
Quotethejollygrimreaper the question i'd be asking is why did the overload/shortcircuit protection not kick in? What overload? The circuit breaker? It doesn't take 20 amps to start that fire. I also want to mention this is in no way a bad reflection on makerfarm, they have an awesome product and always so very helpful.by Antslake - Safety & Best Practices
Not particularly proud at this moment, but I thought I would share to maybe stop the same thing from happening to someone else. Using my makerfarm prusa i3 I had an overnight print going that was about as tall as my machine could handle. I had attempted the same print 3 other times with no issues, just had to adjust some settings to make the print better. For some reason this time, the wires thatby Antslake - Safety & Best Practices
I think what was happening is the filament is bunching up in the extruder. I did modify my extruder to not have a gap under the idler, but it is bunching up else where. I want to design an extruder specifically for this filament. Going to have to reduce the amount of distance between the hobbed bolt and the HE. Then find the optimal diameter for the 3mm filament. Rich, do have any suggestions to stop the warping of 618 when trying to print solid objects? Even though my prints are sticking to the garolite, after I lift them off they warp. Looks like it is from the cooling of the layers.by Antslake - Polymer Working Group
I can't tell from the low resolution out of focus video, but I think my prints are better. I just started not to long ago. With each day I learn more. Using a prusa i3 with a magma. But I can see the need for liquid cooling in a heated build space.by Antslake - General

I guess I wasn't clear? I am having trouble with ninjaflex filament not abs. My abs prints are awesome. I print at 235-240 with abs. 225 with ninjaflex. Before I cleaned my HE out I couldn't get the ninjaflex to extrude unless I was 260 or higher.by Antslake - General
Hi, I am using a makerfarm prusa i3 8" with a magma hot end .40 nozzle. I have the 3mm ninjaflex in black and I am having a tough time getting it to print. I've been at this for weeks now trying to figure it out. At first I had it printing, but the prints had lots of skips in them. In other words the extrusion was not consistent, but it would make the piece. Then it started not making the piece aby Antslake - General

So cool, have always wanted to be able to make objects from the games I play. Pretty easy if you can extract the files from the game and do a little work to them to make them print ready. Was printed in 2 pieces, then glued. Clear ABS at 235°, 25% infill and 2mm shell. 8.5 hour print at 30mm/s. Going to progressively make this larger until I approach life size. Did you tune the current going to your stepper motors? Are they getting hot?by Antslake - General Mendel Topics
You should also go to the calibration wiki, and look for the fine tuning of the esteps. Another possibility is to increase flow a bit. Another possibility is that your filament is not exactly 3mm, you need to measure it in 3 places, average it out, and then use that in your settings. Are you using 100% infill?by Antslake - General Mendel Topics
QuoteRickM If you're still having bed sticking issues, try yellow masking tape (not painters tape). It's basically a cheaper variant of blue painters tape, but for some reason sticks way better with my PLA tests. I've tested it with the bed cold, 40c, 50c and 60c and it's stuck amazingly well every time. In comparison I couldn't get PLA to stick to glass or painters for some reason. Glad someone started this thread. I have been reading for a week about doing a dual extruder on my makerfarm i3. Also been reading about the pain of using support material, think things are difficult printing with one material? I may give that dual extruder a try. Actually what seemed to be happening was no matter how slow I picked it would go fast. This last slice I just tried seemed to work so not sure whats going on. As far as the blobs go, I think it has a lot to do with the color of the filament. That clear abs seems real difficult to get right.by Antslake - General
What slicing program are you using? I noticed something in cura, no matter what speed I choose, it seems to always print at the same speed. I am going to have and try printing slower.by Antslake - General
I was getting bonding issues before at those temps. Most of the time I was printing abs at 245. How is the bonding between layers for you? At what speed?by Antslake - General

Another thing you may want to look at is how many things are on that circut. I had a few light bulbs, my printer, and a vacuum, and blew a 15 amp breaker. You also have to definitely check the heat bed with a multimeter. I don't know the specs, but I am sure there are some ohm specs for what you are using. Either way a dead short would show up.
