Any one try a cheap IR Sensor with a simple voltage comparator circuit (with adjustable pot) as z probe. (~$10 total) I have a glass & pcb board heat bed. (I know I will need to put a piece of paper down, or blue tape.) Cant really use a inductive sensor I think.by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
I have a feeling I will be running into similar problems very soon. I have all three axis built, I am still milling the rods and frame. @dougal1957 Maybe some adjustable cross beam supports/ or wires to get them perpendicular, just a idea might not be a solution. (Also maybe you should start a new post for help)by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
What kind of power supply do you have?by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
Looking really good.by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
For deltas look at this designs for the bigger build area for deltas: 20x40 Extrusions Look at the cherry pi 4 xl design for the bigger size design -> Or look at the cherry pi steel -> All you can modify or make into your own delta, or even use the Mini Kossel design and upscale it.by mikes3ds - General
5 Driver sockets For A4988 or DRV8825 on the AZSMZ, so whatever driver you want The AZSMZ is smaller than the duet (pretty sure, but could be wrong) Also there is spot for 5$ wifi module on the AZSMZ; however, I have not tried it, but about to soldier it on.by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
@David J If you need to save money I would buy a AZSMZ its 32 bit and runs great It runs the same software as the smoothie; however, if you have the money there is nothing wrong with a Duet. The only issue I had was documentation on wiring the AZSMZ, but I figured it all out. I will be posting a guide on wiring the AZSMZ and configuration soon, because the board is not well documented. (But iby mikes3ds - Delta Machines
Go with delta design! Just take one look at them printing and you know its what you gotta make one.by mikes3ds - General
1000mm Height (Extrusions) 350mm Bottom/Top (Extrusions) *Note they are currently 500mm I still need to cut them to 350 310mm Glass & Heated Plate. 280mm Rods What do you think?by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
Thank you dougal Just double checking the rod size. 6x 6mm Rod 280mm (Without ball bearing?) I machining all my rods, so I am going to make sure they are the same length.by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
That is a lot of code looking at your revision for Z-Probe , wish it was split into more files and class's so I could read it easier. But never the less good job. Trying to write code for the smoothie to do multi z-probe delta calibration, trying to find the meat of the code and calculations. I will figure it out, just going to take some time, or I might just need to write it on my own.by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
Cherry pi 4 Xl Building one now.by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
Yes I do have the AZSMZ 12864 LCD. I am going to buy the Wifi ESP8266. Super cool I see the place where you solder this, any special connections or jumpers? Looks you made the pcb designed for this chip ahead of time! Can you post the firmware/source code so I can try it as well?by mikes3ds - Controllers
Very cool. Any source code for this I can test? How about using the smoothie firmware with this module? This is really cool I have a AZSMZ, going to buy that wifi module and see if I can get it working as wellby mikes3ds - Controllers
What gauge wire was the one that burned up? And what size are you using now? I am about to buy or take apart electronics for to find the wiring I need to hook up a 310mm onyx heatbed, and all the power. Making sure I don't have this happen.by mikes3ds - Safety & Best Practices
About how long is your bowden PTFE tube for the cherry pi XL?by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
I would get a cheap bundle (Arduino and Ramp1.4 w/ drivers) from china for 10-20 bucks from china. If you need more power or want to upgrade look at the duet if you have the money. If I had the money I would of went with the duet; however, I got knock off smoothie board from china so far so good (Variant of AZSMZ Mini) .by mikes3ds - General
Thank you Dougal! I will see if it fits tonight. I am using 310mm ONYX heat bed and a 310mm Glass plate. I have to check the thickness tonight after work Dc42 so you use standoff pillars like image->by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
Simple question Can you drill holes borosilicate glass? Do you need special drill-bit or what drill-bit should use? (I dont want to crack)by mikes3ds - Reprappers
Thank you Andy! Looks good. Dougal thank you for offering, if it is not to much trouble to make work 310 diameter; however, I can edit if you send me the stl, I have sketchup w/ plugins but relatively new with it.by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
QuoteQuote Andy did say in his post that they were for his 220mm bed? lol... need to read more. Well in that case dougal1957 can you post your STL design so I can use it on my Cherry Pi XLby mikes3ds - Delta Machines
Hey Andy can you attach a picture of the mount I want to see how you clamped it down. Also is that design for the 310mmby mikes3ds - Delta Machines
Put it all into sketch up, to get a idea of the size also going to try and make a enclosure for it maybe.by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
I edited Pointys design to fit Open Builds V slot extrusions and fit a 10mm ball bearing. The design has a nice cable tightener also a little more build space Link -> Hope this helps some one building a Cherry PI from the USAby mikes3ds - Delta Machines
Is it worth installing a z-probe on my first delta printer? If it is microswitch in effector or mircoswitch with a probe rod? (Can't use inductive sensor, I have a glass bed) Thoughts on this would be nice, currently I am going with out the zprobe. (This is my first 3d printer and still building it currently Cherry Pi iii XL, with 32 bit smoothie, e3d v6 hotend.)by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
The video is pretty cool!!! A couple questions-- Where did you get that probe from? Is it better than using the other designs where it uses the effector as Z probe? Is it worth having a Z probe? (Can you manually calibrate with the z-probe easily, I was not going to have z-probe on mine unless I thought it was useful)by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
I was looking at the schematic, so you say short R4 to ground (The 10K resistor)by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
As printer to pick I would not know. I would check the reviews, and get a excel sheet going and compare parts. (Also you will notice that some pictures the wires are not even hooked up, so don't go based on pictures all the time ) If you have extra money to spend I would support your RepRap member who has a great design and kit. Cherry pi III, AndyCart sells one on ebay. However, there is notby mikes3ds - Delta Machines
FYI Delta #4 - There is a reason why they are on the outside, you don't want the endstop wire next to your power wire coming off the hotend . It can trigger a false signal to your mirco-controller . That is why you see only one on the outside, cause they probably send the hotend wire down the aluminum tube. =) (You can always re-wire it and send that wire down a different tube)by mikes3ds - Delta Machines
