It would explain the regular pattern in the "wobble". I haven't figured out how it would show on some filaments and not on others though... But then again I only have experience with clear PLA. evil Bby evilb - General
So I went digging into the openscad files and create my own opscad drawing of the adapter plate. Using projection() you can create a projection that you can then export as dxf and import in inkscape to print. Dimensions look ok in print. Next step would be to find a suitable way to create technical drawings of pieces, would there be a way to export circles as circles to a cad package? that wayby evilb - 3D Design tools
Hi, I need to match this greg's extruder with this arcol hotend. In the beginning i used steel wire to connect the two, but that has begun to move when i extrude leading to a plastic mess. What i would like to do is replace the top wooden disk with an aluminium adaptor plate that is then bolted to the extruder to prevent movement. I already have a bit of plate which should be sufficient for thby evilb - 3D Design tools
I do hope it gets solved soon though, I like checking out what people are printing and making, that's kind of hard right now...by evilb - General
I've found a very short reaction just now, can only be found through the thingiverse search engine: The changes were made in February 2012 (see link below), I remember reading about it back then, so that is why I went looking for the article and found the reaction above, Interestingly the blog post has a comment made by madscifi requesting explanation on this very subject. thx for the tips, i'll give it a try when i run into this problem. Although my printer is currently no longer working (I need to make an adaptor to connect my arcol v3 hotend to a wade's extruder after my wire solution started becoming flexible...), following this sub-forum has been a source of much learning. I hope to take part in these competitions in the near future again.... evertby evilb - Competitions
Can you shed a little light on the method you use to create the low polygon inner shell? I can see some problems when doing a scaled down torus for instance, the inner wall and the outer wall would intersect on the inside of the torus. evertby evilb - Competitions

With regards to rigidity i think a Mendel 90 would be better suited to put a drill spindle on than a Prusa version.by evilb - General

Jan, did you measure the cooling tube temperature by any chance? Interesting concept, for the first time i have the feeling i could do a hotend myself. I'm tempted to do it, i now have an arcol hotend v3 wired with steel wire to my x carriage, losing a lot of z-height in the process. Any recommendations on what to get as a base material for the heater block? Evertby evilb - General
I have the exact same supply and it doesn't make a sound. This doesn't sound good i.m.o. Probably best to return it to the supplier...by evilb - General

A week or so ago I read a topic on this forum which also included a method of setting the correct stepper current for the extruder. Unfortunately I couldn't find it using search, google etc... I didn't find this on the wiki so I thought i'd try it and add it if it works. If anyone remembers the topic and could point it out, I'd appreciate it. Best Regards, Evertby evilb - General
I tried putting a thermistor on my PCB heated bed yesterday, but the thermal paste i had left over from my hotend was completely solid. Would double sided heatsink tape work here? Evertby evilb - General
Do the steppers turn correctly without the belt? I had the same problem, i connected the stepper loops incorrectly to the driver. They did turn but very erratic and made a lot of noise. see also the last post of this thread:by evilb - General
If i recall correctly he did use a screw drive to drive a single axis and transferred the motion that way to the other vertical support points.by evilb - General
Interesting concept. Main thoughts: The cable should stretch very little under tension. Otherwise you would be required to wind it from 1 spool to the other quite a number of times to obtain an equal stress throughout the cable. How does the solution you saw solve the implicit non-linearity of the system? (e.g. when the spool unwinds, the distance to the guidance pulley changes, this distanceby evilb - General
As I came to this thread while searching for a solution to a similar symptom pulsing problem. I'd thought I add my solution to a slightly different problem with similar symptoms: Case: When i first connected my motors it started turning but not consistently and stopped turning and started vibrating. This was on RAMPS electronics with makerbot stepper motors. Solution: Big case of RTFM I conby evilb - RAMPS Electronics
You could switch them in firmware, you could also switch them by switching 1 pair of wires. Spacexula mentioned it in one of his videos as the preferable option, although i'm not really sure why. Just check that when you short 2A & 1A the motor becomes difficult to turn, i have 1 motor where the wiring is different than the spec sheet. Probably best not to connect it to the electronics yet wby evilb - General
Hello all, After a busy summer the time has come to focus on my reprap project again. Soon i'd like to start testing my electronics. For that i'll need to do the following: >decide on firmware >decide on host software Bearing in mind the following: > I have a Mac computer, so host software that works nicely on mac is of course prefered > I prefer not to use java based software (iby evilb - General
