Hello, I've been tinkering with my 3d printer (a reprap i3 with e3d hotend) and I've always used PLA and always gotten 'OK-ish' results. I initially went for PLA for being more environmentally friendly and lower working temps. Fast forward to today - I have a miniature I need to print in ABS because it will need smoothing, and I did some test prints (an spare i3 extrusion gear and a 'bugz' clipby Phototoxin - Printing
I need to sell my Prusa i3 - getting divorced and moved out but have no where to store the printer. The z axis needs a bit of a tweak but otherwise it all works. I guess you'll probably need to calibrate it anyway after moving it. I got it as a kit from gcolbourn and it's assembled. I've had successful prints. Also included is a lot of filament. I'm in southampton and can arrange deliveryby Phototoxin - For Sale
Still cannot solve the issue of the Z axis, there is a fan directly pointing to it and every version of marlin that I get throws a load of compiling errors. Even trying my existing version starts giving compiling errors. It's extremely frustrating. Any ideas?by Phototoxin - For Sale
OK I printed out 2 forks and put an extra nut about 3/4 up the shaft to help absorb the shock. Toning down the speed a little helped too.by Phototoxin - Printing
I believe that they are M6 rods. I will have a search for it.by Phototoxin - Printing
I've tensioned up my X-axis although I'm still having this odd shift irregularly in my prints. I'm guessing that the hot end should be fixed vertically/perpendicular to the print surface - at the moment it wobbles a little when moving - if that is not supposed to be there any ideas on how I tighten it? I'm using a prusa i3 with an E3D hot end, 3mm and running PLA at 185 on a 60C glass bed withby Phototoxin - Printing
Maybe this is a general question, but it's an i3 that I have! Is there any established method for determining the maximum optimal print speed. I need to print a number of similar things and the quicker I can get through it the better! I know I can change the settings in Slic3r however I'm not sure what the best speed settings are. Is there even a rough guide anywhere?by Phototoxin - General Mendel Topics
I have a fan for the hotend but not the filiment. I will try these things and level the bed. Thanks :-)by Phototoxin - Printing
Sorry, I'm printing PLA and its at 205C on a 60C bedby Phototoxin - Printing
I've recently resumed work on my 3D printer (Prusa i3/Marlin/E3D) and got it mostly functional with the help of my local RepRap gang. I've tried good quality filiment and it seems to flow nicely - however this was the result - it's a bit squished on the Z axis and I don't know why (It should be a cube) I have attached an image of every angle of the cube (I think the top is a modelling error) anby Phototoxin - Printing
QuotePhototoxin Ive got my machine assembled. When i power it up there are blue leds on the board, the lcd flickekrs and red leds flash on the board. It looks to be. The supplier is sending me out a new board, apparently the USB only thing is a bug that can happen.by Phototoxin - RAMPS Electronics
I've just assembled my prusa i3 which came with an ardunio mega, ramps 1.4 and an LCD board/screen. I have connected the wires as per the distributors instructions (motors x 5, 2x thermo couples (bed & hot end), hot end fan, hot end heater, bed heater) and power supply (+12v 11A, +12v 5A) I have compiled and flashed the correct code activating my board type and LCD type. However, if i pluby Phototoxin - RAMPS Electronics
Ever considered recycling botched print jobs of different colours to have a rainbow spool of material? Would be really great for artistic types or people who want to recycle or when the colour doesn't matter!by Phototoxin - For Sale

It seems that a basic mendel can be made for approx $300, though in the UK it seems that most things are overpriced compared to the states. I wouldn't mind building my own but I'd need to know how to get all of the electronics as this is my weakest knowledge area - to this end does anyone sell whole printer kits or plastics + electronics + extruder, I could source the bars and bolts/nuts/screwsby Phototoxin - Wanted
