Hi guys, Your project will be probably one of the most interesting of the coming year. I'm very excited to see how you will apply or change your previous building principles for this one. The lenght of the Z axis on a Core XY is not a factor. It's just a question of guide lenght and orverall strucrue IMHO. I see no advantages to use a Quadrap system. 4 motors for 2 axis is 2 motors waisted,by J-Max - CoreXY Machines
Hi guys, That's so true. the Duet have many features and is expandable. Actualy, the price of the Duet is the major restraint for purchase. If it was Smoothieboard vs Duet, I'll go for the second one, definitely. But even if you add a screen, a Pi, another screen for the Pi, you're still ways under the price of the Duet with the Sbase. Otherhand, if you plan to manage several printers, Octoprinby J-Max - CoreXY Machines
Hi, I realy love northern countries. It's not as bad as you think. There's a particular ambiance and nice people. I went someday in Russia near Finish border. I love Norway and plan to visit Sweden soon. Did you try motedis.com ? The prices are pretty descent, and there's some choice. I know they ship in Sweden, maybe they can push to Finland ? ++JMby J-Max - Smart_Rap
Hi, What a sad story at this point ! Welcome here, It's the right place to don't feel alone with your build. Your story shows some very important point for beginers : Prusa i3 seems a standard, as it's the most produced reprap printer actualy. But the Prusa i3 is not a standard at all. There's so many versions it becomes totaly confusing. To deal with a self sourced printer, here's some advicby J-Max - General
Hi guys, MechaBits, I guess it's once again the cheap one RichardPV gave a link above. On a feeder, you want several things : - easy load/unload - adjustability (spring/screw) - a good drive gear (catch the filament and do not grind it) - a good filament guidance since out of the gear. On those extruders you don't get a good gear and you've got a 7mm gap between the gear and the guiding hole.by J-Max - General
Hi guys, Two guides on the same plan is relatively easy. Two guides on two parallel plans is more difficult to manage. Mecanicaly speaking, it's still two guides wherever they are. Guidance cannot be better. I'm not skilled enough to argue deeply about that configuration in general, but on simpler systems all is usualy about the 1X 2X rule. Distance of the force applied should not be above 2by J-Max - General
Oh come on ! I have no hate about Folgertech, carry on glasses and read again since the start ! I say you can buy better than kits with weird components at comparable price. Folger is known iconic about weird components kits, by the past and still today. 2020 or any of their printers. And yes I encountered their 50 cents 100% plastic (included shaft) no spring feeder with grinder gear. For nostaby J-Max - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi, A 6000x15x30x2mm cost about 20€ here it's 3.50€ for 1 metre. Prices are realy different here. As you're paying in € too, what's your area ? ++JMby J-Max - Smart_Rap
++JMby J-Max - RepRap Groupe d'Utilisateurs Francophone
Ok. Folger is the best company ever, nobody had issues with them or their machines. Cheap printers are as good as any other printer. And people who say the opposite are daft liers. So I am. Delighted ? ++JMby J-Max - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi Chris, Don't you have a hole for a thermistor in the centre of your heatbed ? So you'll be able to fix the thermistor from behind. It will be pretty the same. Don't worry to get the perfect temperature measurement, aluminium catches and diffuse temperature pretty well. Maybe it's more interesting to print on the aluminium plate on tape or something ? For the wires, Serge used to fix the ramby J-Max - Smart_Rap
Hi guys, I tryed the Tribo filament when it was released several months ago. It's a pretty good material indeed. I keep my spool preciously, and print only for purpose because it's pretty expensive. Anyways, there's few advices for people who want to make sliding parts with it. Don't try to make the whole part with Tribo. Print a flange and insert some Tribo sliding pads. The better is to add aby J-Max - Smart_Rap
Hi guys, Sorry if I upset you, it was not intentional. Maybe My english is not good enough to make myself properly understandable. Obviously I don't believe I'm god, I just give some time sharing experience to help people. I don't want to be rude. But even if you were a headchief at NASA, you still have 3 month experience on a single weird printer. I suggest you to go meeting skilled users andby J-Max - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi guys, It's not about spending more money. Source components by yourself is all about saving money while getting better components As I can see here and there, cheap printers brings mostly issues not big fun. Read at last titles and make up your mind ++JMby J-Max - General
Hi, The MKS Sbase is a good option for a CoreXY printer. I would buy at MakerBase (official website or Aliexpress shop) because it's the main company that engineered the MKS boards. (they engineer boards from open sources.) The overall quality of the boards they sell is good. If they don't provide 1.2 boards, I would stick on what they can provide. You don't know who did what after them. ++JMby J-Max - General
Hi guys, I definitely share another point of view than Edvardas, even if I think the SmartRapCore is an interesting machine. Actualy we're building our third SmartRapCore. But we sourced the parts by ourselves, because it's the only way to save money while getting good components overall. @RichardPV, actualy the 1.75mm is the standard. It needs less torque to be driven and offers a better extrby J-Max - General
A confirmer... ++JMby J-Max - RepRap Groupe d'Utilisateurs Francophone
No, because it should have affect extrusion and Z movement too. Here, it seems just X and Y have been affected, just like motors/drivers get overheated. Check pulley attachement to the motor shaft too. Sometimes, when the motor gets a bit warm pulley attachement get loose. But probably it won't happens suddenly on both X and Y axis. ++JMby J-Max - Prusa i3 and variants

Dear tjnamtiw, It's not about spending much to get better, people demonstrate every day you can indeed get a much better printer than the FT, for less money. FTs is a collection of what you don't want in a printer, especialy the acrylic version. Yours have only the aluminium frame to feel better. I'm not the only one who explain step by step what's wrong with their technical choices. Make a searby J-Max - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi guys, Honnestly tjnamtiw, we don't have the same expectations. I understand you are satisfied with your prints. If you don't expect much, you've made the right choice. I compared with other printers and understand what a good 3D printer can achieve. And this is far away from the print quality you get.
