thanks for the comment aminkerr. i feel a little better knowing its a challenge even for someone who knows what they're doing. I can see I have to get a much better understanding of c++ before I could really make any progress with it. for now I set up a second arduino to control all my extra stuff. If i stick with it maybe I can slowly move control over to the main arduino. good luck with youby archy587 - Firmware - mainstream and related support
I see, what if I wanted to unravel how the temperature control loop was carried out? lets say I have a dual extruder setup, but the extruders are not identical, so I dont want both of them to have the same Kp,Ki,Kd. In fact, I would rather have one of them be in bang bang control and one with PID. As is, it seems I have to choose one method or the other in configuration.h and if I choose PID, aby archy587 - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Hey all, I am no programming expert but I have a general idea. I can write some arduino firmware and upload my own projects to an arduino board. Ive made some android apps and can get them uploaded on my phone. So, I have the basic idea, and there's some things id love to build into marlin, but I really can't figure out how any of it works! actually, marlin is the only arduino code ive ever seby archy587 - Firmware - mainstream and related support

you can change the number of segments that a circle is made of, but it will always be made of straight lines. click and drag to make a circle, then type 36s+enter, then you can drag to final size. this will create a circle made of 36 segments. you can use as many segments as you want, but using too many will become resource intensive and will become a major headache when trying to use thingsby archy587 - General
Hey all, Im trying to set up a heated build volume using a heat gun to see if that will help my ABS parts from warping so much. Im running marlin 1.0.5- r2 on a ramps 1.4 board. In marlin configuration.h I set motherboard to 34 and set number of extruders to 2. I have my printer inside a box with a heat gun. The fan on the heat gun is on whenever the printer is on. The heater of the heatby archy587 - General
seems like a good start. One thing (you sort of mentioned this) which I thought helped me out a lot was to always keep in mind which way I would be printing the object while designing. Then make sure every feature in the Z direction occurs at an integer multiple of the layer height you're going to print at. This just prevents from relying on the slicer to do the layer rounding for you, which canby archy587 - General
actually...the buzzing is coming from the power supply haha. thanks for the help!by archy587 - General
Awesome, thanks for that explanation! now I see this is the same as the mosfet low side switching I tried before. I think maybe my current limiting resistor between the PWM pin and the gate was too high before (around 6k) because I wasn't sure what value to put in there. switching to the resistor values from the rambo board I easily pushed 4 amps through the TEC and mosfet without much heating oby archy587 - General
hello, Im trying to learn how to use mosfets as a switch. I want to use one to control current sent to a TEC for temperature control. Ive tried some different circuits that I've found online, but none seem to be in full 'on' saturation with a +5v digital on from an arduino uno. The best I've been able to get is about 0.25A to come on. I want to switch on closer to 1A I know the heat bed powereby archy587 - General
Hey guys, just looking for an opinion on a good material to use as a heat spreader for a heated build plate. I'm printing ABS or PLA onto a piece of plate glass that I am sure is very flat. Currently this is binder clipped to an aluminum plate that has a silicone heater on the underside. The issue that im having is that for ABS temperatures (105 C) the aluminum plate seems to warp upward awayby archy587 - Reprappers
ooohhhh, there's header pins hiding underneath the pololu breakout boards. I never realized there were jumpers across these pins before. My other ramps boards had them preinstalled, this board just didn't come with them. fortunately I can take them off a ramps board I burnt up. thanks for the reply, im running smooth and quiet again!by archy587 - Controllers
Quotenantou In full step mode (no jumper) ... When I added jumper and set to 1/4 stepping mode all problems was solved. I have a similar issue where my setup (ramps 1.4 + A4988 drivers + marlin) are set to full step mode. I got the motors moving the correct number of rotations for the desired distance by adjusting the steps per unit and bringing the mm/sec into a reasonable range. But in full stby archy587 - Controllers
In theory, yea, that D8 power supply should be able to carry as much current as the bed will pull, the re-settable fuse should blow before the mosfet ever does, and if your blowing the fuse, you should be able to tweak your firmware settings to accommodate. I likely have the same cooling plate as you and I have two 30mm fans over my ramps board. They don't move a whole lot of air, but it's betteby archy587 - RAMPS Electronics
so...it is common to burn up your mosfet/board trying to power your heat bed?by archy587 - RAMPS Electronics
I have a reoccurring problem with my ramps board overheating when driving a heater bed. I have a 12V 30A power supply and the resistance across my heater bed and leads is about 4.8 ohms. I buy the ramps boards off ebay: The problem Im having is that I keep burning up the MOSFET on the ramps board that supplies the heater bed. I see in the configuration.h file that there is a way to limit eitheby archy587 - RAMPS Electronics
Hey I have a similar problem, maybe you could give me some advice, I don't know or understand a whole lot about the bootloader, so any help would be good. I bought a chinese rambo board: and I applied power to the board before uploading any firmware. When I did this, the z axis motors ran at high speed as soon as power went to the board.
