It appears that the Arduino SDFat library that Repetier uses does not support long file names, which include the ability to use lower case in filenames. For filenames that don't fit the 8.3 format, a short file name entry is created as well as the long file name entry. There are also a couple of flags Windows uses for certain types of lowercase filenames. Windows filesystem is not case-sensitive,by bobc - General
The board you link to appears to be designed as a debug interface board rather than a dev board, so I am not sure how far you will get with that. I would look at something like I bought a board off ebay which was cheaper and has more pins available, , but the pins have 2mm pitch. As for Smoothieware, porting to other processors than LPC1769 could be problematic, AFAIK no one has successfully pby bobc - Controllers

Got any pictures? It's a good question. The paradox is that replaceable steppers often blow up, but they are replaceable. OTOH, driver chips on the motherboard rarely seem to blow, so it doesn't matter so much if they are not replaceable. The "pololu" type drivers have several major design flaws, which is excused because they were not really designed for the use which we put them to. An additiby bobc - RAMPS Electronics

Quotetjb1 Quotebobc Basically, Stratasys have patented heated tubes. (The "thin-wall" qualifier is meaningless, all tubes have thin walls). It is a totally bogus patent, and I expect it to be ruled invalid in the Afinia case. Instead of working around bogus patents, we should be getting rid of this stupid patent system. I think this is simpler than you are making it. The firmware knows very little about the mechanics. That is good because as long as you build a printer with 3 axes then the firmware can drive it. Imagine a blind man operating a winch handle, he doesn't know which way is up or down, or where the winch is. All he knows is that someone yells, "3 turns left" and he does that. So the printer moves aby bobc - Reprappers

That link points to a MAX31855. It will make a difference. However, they both use SPI so you would need to connect to the AUX3 header. It would be best to use a 100K NTC thermistor, e.g. Epcos B57540G1104F.by bobc - RAMPS Electronics

I followed the instructions in this thread initially. . Soldering direct to the terminals is easiest. I've also added a fan mod using a cheapo Zalman fanmate, and a printed end cover. I also break out the 5V standby and PSOn signal, but the fan stays on in standby. I was going to write up a wiki article when I get round to it. There is also a 750W that can be used quite easily. After repairing my Due, I have been getting it set up with the Getech v1A RAMPS-FD. I'm not impressed with the Getech board, apart from the issues previously noted, poor washing, sub-spec components for power connectors and substitutes for recommended MOSFETs, when I replaced the power connectors I discovered that the quality of the soldering is *really* bad. Definitely an FAQ... creating an all-in-one machine is a perennially attractive idea. Creating a multipurpose machine is kind of like the search for the Holy Grail. Of course it could be done, but the physics of the different applications mean that you either have to compromise on performance, or increase the cost a lot to create a machine with a superset of the required performance. QuoteA2 @bobc: One long taper looks good, and I'm sold on the idea of using one long taper. So what taper will be the ideal? The purpose of the taper is purely mechanical, I think thermal expansion is a red herring. Expansion will occur because the filament is under prby bobc - General
