Gotcha awesome. I like your add ons, like me you always think outside the box.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
Heres some better pics of my bowden setup. @rsilvers. Nice setup. I like the moniter mount. Im assuming thats for your spool mount. The red light on my bowden extruder means that the hot end is on and coming up to temp. The blue lights come on whenthey are at that pre determined temp. I plan on also having a similar setup for the heated bed.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
Adrian Bowyer (not spelled correctly) Is also working on a similar project with a country as well. They are building repstraps out of old computer towers. Its a pretty cool little project and its definitely the cheapest platform ive seen for building printers. RepRap Squad members are donating their technical knowledge to this project and we would be willingto help your project as well. We thinkby REPRAP SQUAD - General
I will keep the collers in mind. @johan. It would be nice too see some pics of your dual stepper setup.by REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
That's what this has now evolved into. Dual hobbed bolt 2ith a gear system. I'll keep you guys updated.by REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
Its just an idea an experiment. The concept works in other applications with half of a feed system being un-driven. The un driven piece helps primarily with alignment. Most of the alignment would be from the groove in the bearing. Ive done some research and found similar concepts being applied. If you dont try something different then you will never know if it will work or lead to something elsby REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
A friend an I were putting together an extruder and a thought came through our heads. Why not hob a bearing for added traction? The bearing im referring to is the bearing in the extruder that pushes against the filiment for feed and retraction. Traction on both sides of the filiment surely would make some difference in the overall scheme of things. The hard part is trying to hobb a bearing. I'veby REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
I have the lc plus which is a bigger version of the lc. It took me an estimated weekend of asymboly and a few days to calibrate. Printrbot is in the midst of making more detailed instructions to make putting it together easier. I would check out the pb forums at printrbottalk.com you can find me there as I am very active in the forums.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
Nopehead is a user and has been around since the beginning. He designed, sells and built the mendel 90. 700 is doable but at that price you are right at the cusp of the starting price for many repraps. I would recommend looking into an enclosure with a vent to your window or a charcoal filter. PLA plastic isnt usually an issue as it has a sweet smell and is easier to print with. ABS plastic hasby REPRAP SQUAD - General
What about android based plug in. Now that would have lots of followers. Everyone I know has been waiting for one.by REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
Really we would need to know what your requirements are as well as what you are going to be using it for. Also things like budgets, size, etc are important for a good recommendation. Without knowing any of that I recommend going with companies that people on here have already bought from and recommend as a good company. Just like anything else their are bad companies that sell sub par kits andby REPRAP SQUAD - General
Actually the xbox psu has great power protection, overtemp protection, over current protection and a few others. Don't let the price fool you. It has plenty of power and outputs for your reprap needs. It has been proven to work on hundreds of machines. In my opinion it works better than most atx psus, unless your willing to spend good money on a specialized psu or a top name atx psu like corsaiby REPRAP SQUAD - General
Good work dear sir. Now thats a sweat shop I wouldn't mind working in.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
are you running a fan with your prints? that will make a big difference for bridging your prints. Getting the correct cfm flow will make a difference as well. also set your controller to slow down the speed during bridging if you have the ability to do so.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
here's a quick pic of my setup. So far the location of my bowden extruder works well. I also have a bowden tube from the spool to the extruder and from the extruder to the hotend. eventually it will have a double and then triple bowden.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
I use an xbox 360 psu and i can run an 8x8 heatbed. Hotend and bed heat up better and faster then my old 25amp atx psu. It works really great and has a lot of power, heat etc protection. Plus the size and connector are convenient. I have a post on my WordPress blog on how to modify your xbox psu for are reprap. The WordPress link is attached to my signature.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
I am currently setting up the first bowden setup of the new printrbot plus v2. I would have attached some pics to the post but my tablet is acting funny so you can go to this address to see pics and info on my custom bowden setup that will soon be a dual extruder and then triple setup.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
2d printers have lots of good parts. Micro switches, opto, motors (some are ok) My first reprap was made primarily from salvaged parts. Its a lot of wotk getting everything to work together but it can be done. If you look up Phoenix project in the cnc repstrap section on this forum you can find a guy who has made a lot of headway in this kind of development. Another option ive used in the past is a 4 way computer style fan controller to run the fans I want manual control of. They make new touch screen controllers for fans that can be had for around $25. You can also set tge fans on auto so they turn on at a pre deturmined temp.by REPRAP SQUAD - Controllers
Does anyone know of any good android software for printing, viewing and editing. I want to be able to do as much reprap related stuff on my android tablet. Any info or suggestions would be great. So far the only one ive ran across that is decent is for 2d creations and it works well for that. Its called AndCAD.by REPRAP SQUAD - 3D Design tools
I use a combination of a four way fan controller like you would find for a computer. Im not sure if that helps any but that will at least eliminate some plugin spots for your fans. They make new fan controllers that are touch screen and can be had for around $25. I also use there abilities to measure temps for electronics, bed etc.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
SIMBA -Reprap squad is in the midst of building a 5 axis reprap and we have a definite need for a unconventional controller such as yours. There are 3 different 5 axis designs we are working on currently. If we could get an early or beta of your new controller to test our setup it would be much appreciated and we would site you for your design. One of our repraps will need to run 10 motora incluby REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
Ive messed around with reed switches which are a form of inductive switch. You can find reed switches in those window alarms. They are super cheep. I found that they just difnt work well on my reprap. I would recommend that if thats the path you want to take then give it a shot. After that post your results. I also found repeatability was an issue that could be solved with mechanical switches.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
Did you buy your printrboard from Printrbot? If so I would contact them and let them know what happened. They have always been super helpfull to me. I agree that you should try and connect directly to the power supply and the ground through your board. I currently use an xbox power supply the 203 watt one. It works great running everything including a 8x8 heated bed. Everything heats up quicklyby REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
I agree they should always be wired normally closed. That way if one wire becomes disconnected it will stop instead of trashing your reprap. Happy building.by REPRAP SQUAD - General

If you look at the above link there is a picture of the pinouts. You want to put a switch between pin 1 and pin2. When these two are touching it will take it off of standby.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
Chris is referring to the xbox 360 power supply not an atx psu. The xbox power supply has voltage that doesnt drop of like atx ones do. They also have great power protection and their size and shape makes them very convenient. Plus they can be bought for a little of nothing.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
If I remember right 5v red connects to power on blue. This connection will take the power supply off of standby mode giving the 12v leads full power. I used a switch between these two so I could switch between standby and on. Reference my word press blog. It has a detailed write up on using the xbox psu. I hope this answers your question.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
