well once I get back to printing (some parts broke .... I wil see if I can get it workingby tattooedfish - General
I have only been printing for maybe 2 weeks at most and out of about 12 attempted prints of actual parts and trying to iron out all my flaws in my prusa i2. Things were going well for about 2 days then out of no where I kept having issues with the filament getting chewed up by hobbed bolt. I thought this was an issue with the bolt itself until I looked down and realized my j head was broken.by tattooedfish - General
First week I was using my reprap everything was fine been doing.a lot of printing and now my hobbed bolt seems to chew up filament regardless of what tension I adjust the idler it will work for about 20 min then it stops extruding the heat is fine k can still push abs through. I am thinking about ordering a hyena shaft but was curious what u guys feel is the best designed extruder bolt.by tattooedfish - General
I installed the ruby stl exporter plugin but for some reason my exported stl files don't work.by tattooedfish - General

Hey guys my prints are slowly but surely getting better honestly I think my major problem is the filament has a lot of air bubbles anyway I want to know what innovative/cool things you have printed for reprap to improve overall print quality and make life easier? I've seen a few cool design ideas on thingiverse but looking for more direct feedback of what made u decide to print the part? Did itby tattooedfish - General
I've been loosing my hair ever since I got mine built baby sitting failed printsby tattooedfish - General
Thank u I got it centered up I'm learning a lot it is really making me work for it lolby tattooedfish - General
I do get a snapping noise when I print if thats what u mean. Hobbed bolt is clean as a whistle and I already.have it set to infill every n layers feed rate is fine when its doing anything as far as building up outer and inner layers its only when doing fill insby tattooedfish - General
I don't even know what skirt is so I sill have to get back to u on that one so do u think I may be extruding too much filament? I will go back and adjust the multiplier I have it set at 1.15by tattooedfish - General
I have been printing for a week with same issue but fixed mine my hotend came from maker farm as well and as long as u have the correct thermister selected in your firmware and is wired up properly your problem is not in your hot end. Here is what u do set your hot end to 230 let it warm up with your spring screws out where u can see your hobbed bolt make sure u have your bolt 100% clean of anyby tattooedfish - General
Sorry for all the miss spelled words my smartphone is not doing to well with the forums I wish this forum was on tapatalkby tattooedfish - General
Hey guys I got my printer printing a lot better my machine is a prusa I2 with ramps 1.4 mkiv-B 3mm 0.5 hotend my threaded rod is 5/16-18 for z axis. I've been printing 0.2 mm layers but the question I have is when leveling my bed do I want a gap that is paper thick that almost extrudes the first layer flat between the glass and the nozzle or do I want the bead to be round on top still where the sby tattooedfish - General
OK check can anyone tell me why my models show up in the center of the bed on kislicer but once its imported into peonterface it is not even on the board but off to the side sorry for the dumb questions hut I'm still anewb at this stuffby tattooedfish - General
Hey guys kislicer is just a stl/gcode handler.with a visual user interface I still have to.use pronterface to handle the code ?by tattooedfish - General
Does anyone know where I can order smaller rolls or if anyone has any good quality filament I am tired of looking at one color but don't see the need for more than a 1/4 to 1/2 pound rolls of filament everywhere seems to sell mostly in 2 lbsby tattooedfish - Wanted
I believe this is about the same its just traditional plate glass for windowsby tattooedfish - General
Am I missing something??? I just went to the open scad site and they have a install file for windows that sets it up automatically for you. Its 2 or 3 links below the one your trying to set up only issue I had when I ran it was I had to update open glby tattooedfish - General
I don't know how to make my own stl files yet I'm still learning but I downloaded open cad but that's as far as I've gottenby tattooedfish - General
I have glass on it that is the odd part I guess I need to see about getting a new piece of glass maybe this one is warpedby tattooedfish - General
I've been sourcing a calibration print that will basically print a fine line or even 5 reference squares of sorts I want to use more than just the center of my print bed and I was thinking this would be a useful way to ensure that the location of the print bed is squared up properly in reference to the firmware of the motor drivers. I'm sure this is something that's been covered before I searcheby tattooedfish - General
I have been using slic3r for a week of course I don't count since I'm new one thing I can say is .that I've been slowly tweaking my printer and my prints are getting better with each tweak but I may have to try kisslicerby tattooedfish - General
I understand where ur coming from but honestly I feel like I would still have learned as much ordering a put it together kit I just would have saved the extra time sourcing parts.by tattooedfish - General
Honestly I was just where u were at a month ago. I sourced all the parts to try and save money and honestly the savings were not as good as I had hoped. I built a prusa i2 only advantage I can see is I came out with better parts and I built it how I wanted it to be than what "some" of the kits offered. But honestly with the 20+ hours of reading/watching YouTube videos etc..etc.. if I had to do itby tattooedfish - General
I have the mk1 heat bed I calibrated it 8 points in the corners left right front to back but for whatever reason it seems to sink in the middle ever so slightly. Do I need to make some form of a brace? Is this maybe warped during central pressure during a heat cycle?by tattooedfish - General
Yah I was using the default setting print speed was at 30 but it just seemed like my hot end couldn't keep up with it at that pace but looking at my extruder gear its got chewed up bits stuck.in the gear is this.normalby tattooedfish - General
I do have a heated bed using a mk-1 heat bed. I'm getting my prints to stick much better than I was before I slowed down my printer a lot and things seem to be more efficient now however I keep getting skips like my nozzle is getting clogged or possibly my extruder gear also seems to be chewing up the plastic some I'm not sure if that's from too much or too little pressure on my Greg's extrudby tattooedfish - General
Hey guys got my printer working and made a few unsuccessful prints my bed level is good. I am printing on blue painters tape with abs part slightly sticks but not very successfully. I don't want to use kapton tape simply cause I can't aget it locally what methods seem to work best?
