Hello All. I am having a problem reading my temperature using Repsnapper. I wanted to see maybe this was a firmware issue? I am using the techzonecom huxley kit. It has a Type K thermocouple wire; This is insulated in a fiberglass braid, it has two wires in there, one wrapped in Yellow the other wrapped in red. After 45 minutes of warming up the tip and testing if the ABS melts and it does, Iby owism8 - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Thanks all for your advice. I do have a thermocouple touching the tip and insulated under silicone cement which techzonecom.com provided: They state that its a : Quote(1) Type K thermocouple wire; This is insulated in a fiberglass braid, it has two wires in there, one wrapped in Yellow the other wrapped in red. I tried to print after taht 45 minutes and what happened was that the extruder kepby owism8 - General
Hello All. How long does it take to heat up a hot tip? Ive had it on for about 45 minutes and the temp is only at 150C according to my IR Thermometer. My repsnapper is not reading the current temp I dunno why... How long does it take for yours to heat up? Thanks all.by owism8 - General

There are two wires that come out of the one wire piece they sent you (its wrapped in a weave of something). Each of those goes in a separate connection to the board. So one will go in the right most hole, the other will go next to that. It doesn't matter which goes in which because techzone took care of that difference in the software. Hope that helps?by owism8 - Huxley
I dont have experiene with botmill but Techzonecom was quick in shipping, after I asked them how long itll take before ordering they said 4 days so I ordered. After which I was missing a lot of screws, and had the wrong power supply!. I was also told the only tools I'd need are allen wrenches which is soo wrong. I had to purchase the following: a metric measuring stick, wire strippers, and aby owism8 - General
Whoa @ tallcat! Thats nice haha. Next is the size of a room! lets print some chairs to sit on :-Dby owism8 - General
So what pros are there to this "2 motor on top" design? Why not just switch back to old mendel days of one motor on the bottom with two gears being turned by one belt. This pro/con should be on the wiki under Prusa if anyone has time for that. I appreciate the discussion fellow reprappers.by owism8 - General
Nice design, test it out and see. I saw some people on the comments said its too flexible That leads me to this idea: A universal joint: or others listed here: Would that be mechanically correct? Any stress issues there?by owism8 - General
Sebastien, Is a there a single place where we can have an Index to all concerns when starting the project. Or are we sticking with the organization where we select which reprap we want to build If we stick with that organization, we should have Pros and Cons under each option here: . Also with pricing options included and a link to the buyers guide for each: (is the mendel and prusa buyers gby owism8 - General
Thanks guys, this helps me prepare which reprap i want to build next. Anyone know about the wobbling issue with the couplings?by owism8 - General
Hello All. Is the prusa z axis coupling with the motors reliable? seeing the motors connected from the top seems weird. I currently have the huxley and the motor is connected from the bottom. Too much force on the motor... no? Gary had an issue with that:by owism8 - General
I think the only downfall of a book would be that It would not include any changes which occur everyday on the Reprap project. For example I joined building reprap in February and in April Prof. Adrian Bowyer introduced the new mini extruder, so Its CONSTANTLY changing which makes the book just a basis to start off with. If you want to benefit the community dont make a book, make a website whicby owism8 - General
I am an electrical engineer , working on a Masters in Technology Education and teaching in a private middle school. RepRap will be revolutionary in education. The open source aspect is the only thing that will bring this awesome technology out to the world and improve our childrens love towards Engineering, Mathematics, and Science. I am developing a curriculum based on it and will post updatby owism8 - General
Hey reprappers, Is the attached spec good for the mendel? I got it from : www.osmtec.com They gave the following quote: 100pcs: USD10 200pcs: USD9.5 500pcs: USD8.5by owism8 - General Mendel Topics
Yeah I adjusted them and they did get too hot. They got to 58C which was too hot to handle. I was told by Kurt from Techzone that he had to do that once too (in order to have enough torque) and had to add a heat sink to the motor to reduce the temp. The motors I used were NEMA 17.by owism8 - General
Hello All, How do I print out the Monotronics from a company who will put all the components on it? I am willing to order 100 or 200 of them. Please let me know which company is cheapest to print out the circuit boards (full, not just the PC Another question: Is mcmaster.com the cheapest to order in bulk all the metal bars, nuts, bolts, etc? Thank you!by owism8 - General
Im using the monotronics. Any one have issues with it yet? I havent begun printing yet because of a overheating motor issue melting my plastic, which I will purchase heatsinks for.by owism8 - General
I look forward to seeing the results. Im doing my masters on making a curriculum to implement 3d printing in the classroom. Your information would be really beneficial in the whole view of the subject.by owism8 - General
THank you for the insight. My materials knowledge is increasing dramatically Im using blue painters tape right now until I get a new hot tip. Is there a design for a good hot tip? Like the on being used by Adrian here: [1.bp.blogspot.com] Thats the newest extruder by the way.by owism8 - General
OH ok Im using the Techzone monolithic boardby owism8 - Huxley
I dont know what minz and maxz ports are. I figured it out though. On the following page: They mention that the wires could sometimes cause opposite behavior. If this occurs, just mirror the wires to rewire it, and so now it works fine. Thanks all. Thread closed.by owism8 - Huxley
Thanks Mkouri, I also found out that the springs are for adjustment of the bed so it is level when the tip moves across it.by owism8 - Huxley
One thing about print bed leveling. I was advised to put springs under the bed with screws holding it down. This allows you to adjust the bed from 4 sides and thus have it perfectly level. see the huxley photo here:by owism8 - Reprappers
I see that when i convert an object to Gcode within Repsnapper. Ive heard most people use Skeinforge for creating Gcode and repsnapper for initial testing of the reprap. Anyone else want to shed light on the infinite lines that extend to the edge of the board?by owism8 - Huxley
How do you place orders from companies in China? I'm looking into creating kits and selling them so I'd like to bulk order rods/bolts/nuts/washers/motors/belts etc. Please let me know, the cheaper I get em, the cheaper I can sell the kits. Thats the purpose of the community.by owism8 - General
Thanks for the help. I got advice to glue the cogs on and that should help. I got a nice test video here showing the X and Z working: Success video One thing the Z is causing issues now. When it goes down to the Opto, it wont go back up but will still go down (which is against the law of opto-end!) When I remove the opto, it goes back up. so its seeing the world upside-down. Got some success on the axis. One cog fell off after the test. Then i glued it back on after sanding the axle on the motor. I'll post pics and such up on a blog soon.by owism8 - Huxley
