I've got a strange issue that I can't quite place my finger on. I have had the stepper for the extruder turning before, but after a long failed attempt to upgrade the firmware the extruder controller is not driving the stepper motor any longer. Now I have the led's flashing correctly but nothing out of the motor (no heat out of the A3949 chips either) I thought, hey I must have blown the A3by lunchtrayrider - Controllers
I've got my reprap built and ready to go but need some assistance on the software side. Wondering if anyone could assist. I can supply pizza and beer. -aaronby lunchtrayrider - Minnesota Twin Cities RepRap User Group
Hey everyone, I've sold a lot of kits on ebay but would prefer that people emailed me directly to order kits (ebay fees are expensive). You can email me directly and i'll get you what you need just as fast as purchasing it off ebay ( I am the same person after all!) -aaron tayl 0458 at umn.eduby lunchtrayrider - For Sale
the arduino editing software is good for figuring out which com port. check, plug in, check again. record com port. also it is just COMx, not dev/tty/COMx that you put in the preferences.by lunchtrayrider - Sanguino(lolu)
matthieu- if your using windows your port should be set to something like COM3 not USB0by lunchtrayrider - Sanguino(lolu)
i do have the configuration file there. the led near the c-/c+ does not come on. i've set the debuging and will post some info out of it. Anything in particular to look for?by lunchtrayrider - Controllers
in the extruder sketch in the arduino editor under the tab extruder.class i believe near the bottom. it is similar to the code that is posted in the wikiby lunchtrayrider - Controllers
So, after is what is literally forever i'm so close and yet have no idea where to start. i'm trying to get my thermistor and heater to work on my reprap. I've got no heat and no temp readings. I'm assuming that the problem lies in the firmware but it makes no sense to me so I'm stuck. I might be having rs485 problems. haven't ruled it out. I can get the stepper motor to turn. I can'tby lunchtrayrider - Controllers
Braden Kear- here is something that I tried today that seems to work pretty well- in the stepping sequence code of the extruder I commented out the even number steps and left the odd numbers (so the ones that have pwm>>1 + pwm>>3 are active) this allowed me to get a more consistent strength from the stepper motor and kept the heat coming out of the h-bridges to a more manageableby lunchtrayrider - Controllers
i'lll have to dig in further. I've replaced all the files a couple of times, still no clear answer. If anyone else has the issue i'd love to hear a solution (although my trim pot does adjust the voltage going to the extruder stepper)by lunchtrayrider - Controllers
at the risk of hijacking the thread, screenshot showing the option doesn't appear for me.by lunchtrayrider - Controllers
question: Extruder0_ExtrusionPWM -1 does not show up in my host software. (most recent release) which release(s) is it in and is it not needed anymore?by lunchtrayrider - Controllers
hey everyone, i've sold about 2 dozen of the thick sheet sets. I'll probably keep a listing on ebay going indefinitely, so look for the auctions there. you can also email me at tayl 0458 at umn dot edu if you would like to purchase a set off of ebay. I can also do custom parts if you'd like. just give me an email. -aaronby lunchtrayrider - For Sale
i solved the issue by copying new stuff over everything in the sanguino area of the arduino folder. So no real answer on what caused the problem but this worked to fix it.by lunchtrayrider - Controllers
I am running arduino ide 18. The error lists all of the available arduino programmers. I am using the usbttl cable from makerbot. I am very fish out of water with any of the programming. if arduino is not listed how do I fix that? should it be using arduino anyway?by lunchtrayrider - Controllers
looking to solve this error. didn't have it before, now I have it. I have read on various forums people having the same problem but the solution is always "use the reset button" the following response is "already tried that" then the solution is always "stupid me, fixed it" lol so i'm trying to figure what i'm doing wrong.by lunchtrayrider - Controllers
3 day auction: get it now! approx $17.50 to ship to uk, please confirm international cost before bidding. (i can also sell you kits outside of ebay too) -aaronby lunchtrayrider - For Sale
looking at the board if you can't reattach this capacitor you could hook one with leads up right at the power input to the board (in the screw connectors). I would assume that it is used just for filtering the power coming to the board. I'm not an expert and would check the schematics.by lunchtrayrider - Controllers
yea consistency is probably rock solid across the wiki. because it is a wiki. that is the nature of the beast. real issues with the the way things are wired. generally there are creative ways things are hooked up. a lot of rules of thumb are broken. for instance daisy chained ground wiring instead of star wiring. a good explanation would be nice. to me it appears that this solely allowsby lunchtrayrider - Controllers
for a simple unipolar driver check out the stepgenie chip i've used them and they are fantastic. no overheating what-so-ever. well obvisouly because the mosfets are running way below what they are capable of. however only half step mode at most, i've used current limiting resistors with good success but getting really high speed will be an issue without a 'chopper drive' here is anotherby lunchtrayrider - Stepper Motors, Servo Motors, DC Motors
cnczone.com has some documentation of peoples experience with chinese control boards. I believe it is a toshiba tb6560 or such on that board you linked to. the nice thing is that although the chinese board will probably not hit full specs, (read more on cnczone) it will run at reprap specs most likely just fine.by lunchtrayrider - Controllers
lol, someone must know this, I don't want to just blindly short connections on the circuit board!by lunchtrayrider - Controllers
another ebay listing for laser cut thick sheet. good luck bidding!by lunchtrayrider - For Sale
no, there is clearly a jumper soldered across two pins where the atx plug used to be. the question is because this was not called out or explained in the wiki. it is only in the pictures and not in words. the jumper at A is to enable auto reset. (it is labeled on the board.)by lunchtrayrider - Controllers

There is a jumper shown in the wiki adaptions that looks like a piece of wire to connect two pins where the atx power plug used to be. what is this for? i am assuming it connects 5v through it now that the power is not coming from the atx power supply? -aaronby lunchtrayrider - Controllers
hey tony, any word on your parts yet? -aaronby lunchtrayrider - Wanted
if someone has something specific that they want, i'll look at it. But because most people seem to not know autocad, which is fine, there is a lot of work that I have to do to check these things out, so unfortunately I just don't have time to look at a dozen sets of parts building machines that I am not necessarily familiar with. I can guarantee that I'll charge less than ponoko or any other rpby lunchtrayrider - Job Shop: I make stuff!
hey tony, awesome. If you can verify your list for me i'll send you a laser cut set. -aaronby lunchtrayrider - Wanted
