because it is much easier to produce in a mass production scale. Much easier to build, and because Bre and Zack wanted too.by SCphotog - General
A friend posted this link onto my McWire build log. Seems a movie studio has built the worlds largest 3d printer. It prints artificial sandstone. It can print a 3m x 3m x 3m object. I think this is awesome. Imagine a printed house or the sculpture art that can be created with this machine. From the image they included it looks like they took care of the extreme angle overhang problems too.by SCphotog - General
I built the new X-Stage last night. Hope to have time to build the Y-stage this weekend.by SCphotog - Reprappers
They are both ran by Zach Smith IIRC and thus the same store. RRRF had an announcement on the site a while back about makerbot being the main store now.by SCphotog - General
It seems I made the same mistake so many others do. I printed out the sticker designs and they were scaled down. So I tried printing them from autocad with "scale to fit" turned off and it still printed them too small. Unfortunately I did not notice this until after I had already cut out my x stage and drilled all the holes. This is not that big of a deal though because I am using scraps from tby SCphotog - Reprappers
whats wrong with ebay? I buy probably $10k worth of stuff a year on ebay. Local auction sites are full of scammers with no buyer protection.by SCphotog - Controllers
I am in the middle of my McWire build and if you have any questions I would be glad to try and answer them.by SCphotog - Controllers
They were old dot matrix printers They were pretty banged up with no label or brand on the printers.by SCphotog - Controllers
Anyone want to take a stab at finding a data sheet on these 2 tin can steppers? I post photos of them on my site.by SCphotog - Controllers
If you look down a few post in this section you will see where I linked to a ebay auction where there are 40+ available. I ordered several of them.by SCphotog - Controllers
Oh yea I finally got the photos up of the build on my site.by SCphotog - Reprappers
There is a fasnal 5 min from my house. I forgot all about them. I got the base assembled this weekend and the X rails cut and mounted. Printed out the x stage and glued it to the plexi. Now I need to go to home depot and grab a jigsaw blade and cut it and the bearing arms out.by SCphotog - Reprappers
I would gladly take some of the electronics off your hands. I could also use a set of printed parts for a pinch wheen extruder or a normal extruder. I am in the middle of my repstrap build (mcwire variation) and the extruder is what is holding me back.by SCphotog - Reprappers
I understood that we were using bipolar nema 23 steppers for the stages. why would bipolar not work for the extruder?by SCphotog - Controllers
Do you guys think that a nema 17 is powerful enough to drive a pinch wheel extruder? If so here are some cheap ones with splined shafts. I just bought 6 to have around for various projectsby SCphotog - Controllers
are you using laser cut acrylic from rrrf? I chose to cut my own to avoid problems like this.by SCphotog - Reprappers
The parts arrived. I forgot to order the 1/2" nuts, bolts, and washers. I will take a trip to home depot tomorrow. Here is a scan of the invoice with part numbers and prices.by SCphotog - Reprappers
Well the order from McMaster-Carr is on its way here. The Atlanta warehouse is only about 3 hours from my home and the FedEx hub it was shipped from is about 2 hours away. It arrived at my local FexEx hub last night and is out for delivery now. That's less than 24 hours after I ordered it and I paid for standard ground shipping.by SCphotog - Reprappers
Ok my uncle flaked on the order. He says its not enough to justify him putting an order into his suppliers for. So I ordered all of the parts needed for a McWire from McMaster-Carr today. Total came out to $98.75 Some of the parts in the parts lister were discontinued and I had to browse a little for suitable replacements. Note: The 4" extension springs specified in the parts lister are no lonby SCphotog - Reprappers
Nice score. I have been searching ebay every day for a high precision x/y stage that's cheap enough to justify me buying it.by SCphotog - Controllers
Just wanted to jump in and say that what you are building is a RepStrap not a RepRap. A RepRap must be able to print a significant number of its own parts.by SCphotog - Reprappers
I ordered the aluminum channel, angle and ss rods today. I actually ordered them through my uncle who is a hardware dealer for several local manufacturing facilities. I got it all at his cost which is roughly 10% below McMaster. As soon as Zack gets some gen3 kits in stock over at makerbot I will order them and some bearings. I am in the process of setting up a site that's independent of my photoby SCphotog - Reprappers
If at all possible for you, go with the pinch wheel design. It seems to be the best design so far.by SCphotog - General
So what is the cost for the laser cut parts with your discount Vik?by SCphotog - General
Motor- it was my understanding that rrrf store and makerbot were both ran by Zach. Makerbot has the gen3 kit for $145. It is out of stock but I am sure it will come back in stock soon. I remember when the original electronics kits were out of stock for months.by SCphotog - Controllers
I am looking for someone who can print me the plastic parts for a pinch wheel extruder. Price must be reasonable as I am doing this on a tight budget. Thanks.by SCphotog - Wanted
I am back. Getting ready to move forward with my build and am at a road block. Should I purchase the gen 2 or gen 3 electronics kit? I like the gen3 kit. Is the sanguino included in the mobo kit or will I need to purchase one separately? It also looks like the gen 3 kit does not come with a temp probe. Are we still using a thermistor or have we moved to a thermocouple?by SCphotog - Controllers
Adrian sent me an email a few days ago saying that I would have an invitation to join the blog shortly. Well I have received nothing. Am I overlooking something?by SCphotog - Administration, Announcements, Policy
Glad you got it Larry. I have been MIA here for the last week or so. Sports season on top of wedding season is picking up and most of my time is spent either taking photos or editing them.by SCphotog - General
