Nice stuff. Provides seamless transition from one to the other, I like it. I'm just starting out learning OpenSCAD, and even though I can do simple scripting it is a bit overwhelming to me. I like FreeCAD due to the obvious reason of a GUI. It's good to know I can work with both of them and learn both without being limited. Thanks for all of your work!by xclusive585 - General

I've decided on The Player Project for my platform. When coupled with Stage and Gazebo, it offers a full environment for testing and software development that allows real-world or simulated control of bots. Once you've designed something in the software environment, it can be placed on a real bot and should work as expected. I like this solution. Also Player/Stage/Gazebo is used by many seriousby xclusive585 - Robots!
It seems to me RepRap builders/users tend to be the really knowledgeable tech people in any bunch. The every day person could not do what we do here. Guerrilla Marketing for RepRaps doesn't seem like a necessary or even usable idea until we have enough open source hardware out there where the average person with no tech experience can slap together some modules and put in some phillips head screwby xclusive585 - General

+1 Collaboration need not be what we think. Work done in the past is recycled into new designs. Everything released as open source hardware has the potential to be improved upon or redesigned, so in many ways it is still very much like GPL software, people branch, fork, merge, etc.by xclusive585 - General
I've spoken with John a few times already. He is great and I look forward to doing business with him. I've been waiting a month on some money and it's finally coming today or Wednesday. *evil grin* I'm also going to build a Mendel90 in a couple months. Which with my existing Prusa, should be a proper selection of printing equipment to use for some small scale manufacturing. Once I get the Rostocby xclusive585 - General

For simulation and/or firmware/programming purposes what are some of the better softwares out there? I've just learned of the player-stage combo being very popular. Any other robotics platforms worth looking into, open-source free or otherwise?by xclusive585 - Robots!
Looks a little better than my first prints, even as good as my current prints, I'm only a couple months in but I'd say that's not too bad at all for starters! Look at some other peoples first prints and you will feel good about that one. ;-) How bout some details about your setup? Your print is lifting, this could be catching your hotend and forcing lost steps. Also lost steps are not always the result hot drivers.... Drivers adjusted too LOW will have the same effect. I also don't understand peoples reasons for cooling stepper motors... We run these things under their ratings specifically to keep them cool during our normal operation.
