the program is running at 115200 baud rate connection.
I'll have to check out Repetier
The nozzle freezes up in the middle of a run, stuck in the center of the part, and it isn't on an edge or close to the outer envelope. The next time I run the program, it will run the part fine

Just had my friend running a third Windows based laptop crash at 92% completion on a part that should have taken about 45 minutes. We are trying the external power route next.

Thank you for the information, I hadn't realized I was using the terminology incorrectly.
Your information about PID loops, while interesting, unfortunately does not tell me what I need to know. What changes in firmware/software/hardware do I need to complete in order for my on/off solid state relay, controlling 110v, controlled by the RAMPS 1.4 board with, I assume, 12 v output.
My relay

I have an external controller maintaining temp to my heated bed, heated by a 110V silicone pad I had lying around. I bought a solid state relay (12V dc controlling 110V AC) and wanted to control the bed through the RAMPS 1.4 controller. But I can't find anywhere where it says if the controller for beds are bangbang or proportional. If proportional, won't work on my new relay. Running splinter

No, nothing peculiar in g-code, I have printed the same item more than once and had it crash in different places, then the next time it made it all the way through fine. I am looking at buying a SDramps card to add to the unit to minimize this sort of problem.
If I am running on SD card, is there any info going back to the computer? Lines completed, temperatures, anything? or is it isolated co

OK, now this is interesting. from the Arduino site,
"The Arduino Mega can be powered via the USB connection or with an external power supply. The power source is selected automatically.
External (non-US power can come either from an AC-to-DC adapter (wall-wart) or battery. The adapter can be connected by plugging a 2.1mm center-positive plug into the board's power jack. Leads from a battery can

As far as I can tell, it maintains temperature with the hotend, (bed is independently controlled as of right now)
I don't think i have seen any error messages on printerface. It locks up printerface, and nothing responds . I can press pause then try to move z axis, nothing happens. The only way I can get communication restored to the printer is by closing down the printerface program and unpl

According to this
"D1 should only be installed if the 5A rail is powered by 12V. It can be omitted and the Arduino will be powered from USB. "
I can't find D1 marked on the board, still hunting. Could it have been d1 instead of D2?
I realize I am grasping at straws, I just want the machine to stop freezing up

When I tried to load firmware with the Dells, it would say "loading" for several minutes, then say loading completed with several errors and the firmware had not changed. Sorry, don't recall the errors, didn't write them down. We took the RAMPS board off to watch the connection light, it never flashed. With my friends apple, as soon as we started the firmware loading, the connection lights sta

Rats. D2 was populated. But I am not certain that I had the external power on when I was trying to load firmware, so that could still be the solution for half the problem. Still don't know what causes the frequent freeze ups

Thank you so much. I don't know if d2 is populated, but lower power would make sense why it locks up, and especially why I couldn't program. I will double check and post results. I can always pick up a powered USB hub at rat shack

I finally have our Prusa spitting plastic.and have run in to a repeating problem.
Have my RAMPS 1.4 based system running splinter hooked up to my Dell Latitude D630 laptop. Running Printerface latest version. About one print in 4 the printing will go along fine for 10 to 25 minutes, then just stop. Prusa nozzle frozen in place. program not responsive to any commands, the only way to proceed is

Do you know how many CFM your case fan is rated for? I have a 40m NMB fan but rated for 21CFM, lots of air in a small package. I am printing abs, not PLA yet, haven't had any nozzle jams yet. PVA? Polyvinyl acetate? Polyvinyl alcohol?

We have been building a Prusa, finally have it spitting plastic (Yea!) Now we are fine tuning. Just finished recalibrating extruder, playing around with different substrates (Blue painters tape, kapton, etc) nozzle temperatures, bed temperatures, feed speeds, retraction value and speed, too many flippin values to juggle. We were attempting a tall skinny part, my buddy grabbed an air nozzle and

I have a RAMPS on a Arduino mega 2560. Firmware loaded was Sprinter. Is it possible to download the configuration file off of the Arduino, so I can change it? I do not have the original confuguration file, I have arduino and Sprinter loaded on this computer, don't know how to download off of the 2560 board

We are running sprinter. I am not the one who installed it, I am handling hardware and electronics. Can anyone point me the right way to proper chips, ryc?

Short question, Can a RAMPS run a thermocouple for a heated bed (Type T) instead of a thermistor? Is the RAMPS output for beds bang bang or proportional?
Longer explanation. I have a 110v heated bed, controlled by an outside controller. I want to shift to controlling it with the RAMPS using a relay to control the 110 V heater with the 12V RAMPS HBP controller, and reporting the temperature to

I finally got my Prusa up and running this week. Yesterday I updated slic3r, and now when I export gcode to Pronterface, it shows the original location of the part, and a shifted location for the part to the lower right hand corner of the build plate. I try moving the part in slic3r by adjusting the center point x and y, and in printerface it shows the original location moved, but the shifted l

Hi everybody.
Can anyone tell me their opinion on prism vs mendelmax?
After far too long futzing, I have my prusa mendel almost functional. Sooo, next step, since there are 3 of us sharing it, is to build another one, right?
I have been investigating options, and since the frame pieces on the prusa, being allthread, have always been a bit flaky, I thought I would go extruded aluminum for t

My quote said shipping to be calculated when order is placed. We have a metals recycler that quite often gets extruded metal as scrap, I am checking with them this week if they have any the right size. The prism de

Just joining in to the conversation, currently I have a mostly functional mendel prusa, (some nozzle issues haning on) that I share with 2 other guys. we agreed we would get one up and running, then build 2 more so we each had one. interested in the Prism. Where in USA have people found the extruded aluminum? I just set up an account with Misumi, got the quote for 22.80 for the 10 frame piece

Thank you all for the help. The three of us putting the instrument together haven't been able to get together for a week, so I am anxious to try out all your suggestions.
Anyone have any strong opinions on software to run the instrument? Especially if we shift to a different firmware (Teacup, or one of the others).
Oh, CidVilas, your comment implied you missed something. What did you miss?

So, just to confirm, the mechanical endstop information at
is not applicable to the TechZone stepper controllers, since the Atmel chip already takes care of that?
I would need the 5v line going to an Optoswitch, since it needs a 5v source to run, but mechanical switches only need to open/shut a circuit between signal and ground.
OK, I will give that a try. It is embatrrasing, but I don't know
