Still not been able to sort out why Marlin is working with Slic3r but not Skeinforge. Thankfully the dev version of Slic3r has a fix for the problem I was having so hopefully shouldn't be an issue now. Still frustrating.

That is what I have been thinking, but changing Skeinforge to either seems to change nothing Could I ask what you have for your start code if you use anything?

Hold that thought, It seems Marlin doesn't like Skeinforge gcode but is getting on with Slic3r's. Not sure what is the difference, will experiment more and report back.

Firmware - mainstream and related support
Hello all,
I have just updated my Sanguinololu from Sprinter to Marlin. Everything seemed to have gone well however while I can get the printer to run fine over serial connections, it seems to have issues when I print via SD.
The whole point of upgrading is to use the LCD/Rotary switch for the printer, brought that from Think3DPrint3D. I can use the screen and switch to select anything from the

Cool, thanks for the reply
I want to make it totally standalone so I can do without the computer being involved at all (aside from gcode creation). I currently use a bluetooth dongle on my Sanguinololu which works really well, but the Sangi doesn't have enough pins for complete autonomous operation. As I have the powersupply from the Sangi, at 19V, I can supply that for the ramps and I'll regul

RAMPS Electronics
Hi TheCase,
Unless someone is able to come up with a serial interface so that another microcontroller could be used as the user interface, there aren't enough pins on the Sanguinololu to run the SD, LCD and selector switch. I am now moving over to RAMPS as that has more then enough pins in order to allow the use of all of them.
I was hoping to use my Sangi but it just doesn't seem possible

okay, reading further it says on the wiki "The 1N4004 diode connects the RAMPS input voltage to the MEGA. If your board does not have this diode soldered in, you can safely input as much as 35V. (The pololus can do up to 35V)" but there are two 1n4004's. I belive it is refering to D1 and then I think would need to power the Arduino with a seperate 5V supply.

RAMPS Electronics
Hi all,
I have been looking at the circuit diagram for RAMPS. Currently I have a Sanguinololu and it is run from a 19V supply. I know that the Mega can accept up to 20V so if I put 19V I am assuming the RAMPS board will send the 19V to the Arudino and pull back the 5V to run on.
Am I even close?

Replied in other topic, but will post here for others too
I have mine wired Green Black Red Blue with the green pointing towards the mosfets
Hope this helps!

I am looking into doing this as I would like to have it all stand alone with SD printing. Wiring up the LCD isn't an issue, but there doesn't seem to be enough pins for the LCD, SD and rotary switch. If I make any progress I will post up on here

I am probably being blind here but anyone know where I can find the circuit diagram for V1.3a? I want to put on Marlin and have the LCD, SD and Control panel and need one more pin then is available on the expansion pins. I am not sure about pin35 (A5 or D26). Unless I can get away without having the SD Card Detect?

Trying to run SFACT in pronterface, disabled all the bits you said to under export (actually they already were) and I get the error:

from skeinforge.skeinforge_application.skeinforge_utilities import skeinforge_craft
ImportError: No module named skeinforge.skeinforge_application.skeinforge_utilities

Cheers for that. Was trying to find something on their site, but was at work lol Emailed them but not paying £1000 for the software. I'll stick with SketchUp for now!

3D Design tools
I was wondering if anyone uses TurboCAD (18) and if it can export STL files? Have a chance to get it on offer and I could do with something a bit more powerful then SketchUp for a few of my ideas. I'd love AutoCAD but can't afford that!!

There is one on the Market called 'stlviewer'. AZ bit buggy and force closes often, but good to view stls on the move

Just a thought, had a search through Google and couldn't find one, thought I would ask and see if I had missed it. No rear purpose for it just so that I can show off my designs without having to take a computer with me :-)

Thanks Camiel, I wasn't meaning to imply that there is any problem with Orca, just giving an example. Of course I wouldn't expect upgrades (nice though that might be LOL). Cheers again for your time. Once I have the money together it will be a toss-up between Orca and Prusa. I lookforward to more checking out the vids you post up on youtube

Thanks for the reply Camiel, just to clarify, if there was a fundimental error you would offer a replacment (part)? I should be in a position to buy in about a month or two so hopefully by that time any kinks should be worked out :-)

Thanks for the advice guys, have been tempted by the orca which seems to be available soon at mendel parts. Not sure if it would be a good thing to go with a newer beta design for someone who hasn't done this before. It does seem to be in a near final stage though, worth the risk?

Hello everyone,
I am trying to get my head around all the mendels out there so I can try and choose the right one. But first I would like to ask about Sells Mendel. I have seen itmentioned but not found it by name, is that the 'original mendel?
So my list is at the moment:
Original Mendel
Prusa Mendel - should be cheaper but needs more maintainence with bushes
Ocra Mendel - not sure yet of spe
