Check the current going to the extruder stepper. Mine did this when it was under-powered. Not sure what controller or stepper drivers you are using, but here's the documentation on adjusting stepper current for a Melzi w/integrated stepper drivers. I ended up manually adjusting the potentiometer for the current to the extruder stepper while the printer was printing and skipping. I turned itby speedeep - Printing
Try a thin layer of school glue stick (Elmer's, UHU) on clean glass. Usually works for several prints and cleans off with water.by speedeep - Printing
After fighting the "PLA directly on heated glass" fight for way too long, I finally tried a thin layer of stick glue (Elmer's/UHU school glue.) on clean glass. Works reliably, washes off easily with water. I wash and apply a thin layer every couple prints. Some people have had similar success with a thin layer of diluted PVA (Elmer's liquid glue.)by speedeep - Printing

The Mendel Monocolo(u)r instructions mention MXL belts and MXL printed pulleys. Y-axis uses MXL as well.by speedeep - Reprappers
Harbor Freight in Vernon, CT? Not the best tools, but when you need cheap they've got most of the hardware tools you'll need. Their drill bit selection varies. They usually have few metric drill bit options. They won't have Kapton tape. Cheap crimp tool: If you ever plan on doing any other soldering, spend as much as you can swing on a decent soldering iron (not from Harbor Freight.) Otherby speedeep - General
From e-mail discussions with reprappro, they print the gears using a 0.3mm nozzle (available on emakershop) "Smaller parts, eg extruder gears, motor pulleys, are printed with a 0.3mm nozzle at 0.2mm layer height." also "40mm/s print speed, 250mm/s travel speed" Hope that helps get things working.by speedeep - General Mendel Topics
Just trying to push the print envelope of this printer a bit. $600-$1200 plus shipping for a Prusa i3 DIY kit would cover a whole lot of printing and tweaking time, blood, sweat, and tears.by speedeep - General Mendel Topics
I've been staring at my RepRapPro Mendel Legacy printer lately contemplating modifications that might increase the usable Z-axis range. Several thoughts that have come to mind, which I'm considering: * Upgrade to new X-axis design which is narrower and moves the (now MXL) belt to inside the carriage. I've printed the parts and have all the miscellaneous parts to complete the upgrade. * Relocaby speedeep - General Mendel Topics
I've fixed this a couple of times by building up an appropriate number of aluminum foil squares with a hole punched through them to allow the bolt to pass through, then draw the aluminum foil into the nut cavity/recess with the bolt to tightly shim the space between the cavity and the nut/bolt head. Adjust number of foil layers if necessary to get the fit right, then trim off excess foil. Thisby speedeep - General Mendel Topics
Does anyone know anything about the "Slic3r Settings Database" form that is at: I'm not sure if this an active effort or the leftovers of someone else's idea. It looks well-done, but doesn't seem to have any interface (that I can find) to query the information people have put into it. I'm interested in setting up a similar, but public database for people to post and query Slic3r (and possiblyby speedeep - Slic3r
