It is incredible to see what a community of smart and well-spirited people can do in a month. Congratulations. Now put it on kickstarter and take my moneyby Matthieu - Delta Machines
Hi, To my great shame I did not solve it, I am still on 5D. I plan on testing GMT solution whenever I have time, thoughby Matthieu - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Hi, I think I'll keep playing with my 5D firmware until I find time (and money) to upgrade to Gen7 electronics. Less headachesby Matthieu - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Hi! Actually, I considered this option, but I ruled it out - as the Z axis homes correctly. Therefore, it goes down, not up. I am confused... This is with 5D firmware, but not Teacup. It is not compiling on the HEATER_EXTRUDER variable, and I have not looked at it further for now. what about you ?by Matthieu - Firmware - mainstream and related support
actually, pronterface works fine with the 5D interpreter firmware. Provided that you set the baud rate to 19200 I mean, quite fine, on the X and Y axis, but the Z axis can go down, but not up. That is strange... I get a lot of blips and noise from the card, and vibration from the motor, but no movement up.by Matthieu - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Hi Adam I think I am following your exact footsteps, one month later. I am now hurting my head on the problem of compiling TeaCup with the gen3 config.h, and getting the HEATER_EXTRUDER non defined variable error. Have you solved your problem, and if yes, how ? different config file, different software ? thanks,by Matthieu - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Hi, So as a summary, you are using the 5D firmware, simply changing the baud rate in the software - I think I missed what host software you are using ? pronterface ? I have the same HEATER_EXTRUDER issue with gen3 config file...by Matthieu - Controllers
Hi Adam, I am in a very similar situation to your. I made the decision to download the bundle X2SW that combines Slic3r and print I am quite sure that the firmware must be updated / changed, but I can't identify precisely which Gen3 elec-compatible firmware will work. Any idea ?by Matthieu - RepRap Host
Thing is, my ABS seems to bond TOO WELL as well on perspex/PMMA. Can't unstick the little ABS drops ! -> is there a solvent for ABS and not for PMMA ?by Matthieu - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Hi Andrew - good point but I already glued the hot end Hi Greg - thanks for the advice I can try thatby Matthieu - Plastic Extruder Working Group

Here are pictures of my bolt - what's your opinion?by Matthieu - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Dear all, I'm struggling for a few weeks now with my Wade's extruder. It does not seem to extrude nearly enough plastic to print. At times, when testing it not printing, and when the stars were aligned (ie I can't really tell the difference in settings) it was extruding at a decent rate, but not for a long time. The key issue seems to be the grip of the hobbed M8 bolt. The "teeth" seem small, alby Matthieu - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Your pictures are great and should definitely be included in the wikiby Matthieu - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Do you have details on the non-working PLA and the new one that you got to work ? I have relatively similar issue so I'd appreciate if you can give more details thanksby Matthieu - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Thanks for the input. I'll try that as soon as I can get my extruder properly extrudingby Matthieu - General Mendel Topics
Dear all, Thank you for replying to AgeingHippy above, I had the same issue and I have now carefully calibrated my Z-axis home position to be 1-sheet above the bed plate and carefully checking that it is level XY-wise. Alright, then I turn on the machine, I do a few tests on the extruder, then back to "home" again to prepare for printing, and there all hell break loose. My aluminium plate has mby Matthieu - General Mendel Topics
Dears, A) I now know how to flash the software The bug has disappeared so I confirm it was the cause of the problemby Matthieu - RepRap Host
Hello, I have the same issue here with the following twist, which kinda confirm Traumflug idea (and kinda not). Last month I was able to have my reprap move and extrude kinda properly, with an about-6-months-old firmware and software, except that I was not able to extrude at a correct speed. So, I went on looking at the preference options, which were not up to date with the wiki. So I downloaby Matthieu - RepRap Host
rhmorrison: neat, now my electronic works AND I feel I have improved the wiki :-) lunchtrayrider: like I said, the issue was that I needed a FTDI driver to have a COM port out of my USB plugs.by Matthieu - Sanguino(lolu)
Gotcha ! I found a driver here that allowed by to convert a USB port to a virtual COM. The adress is below for the poor Windows users like me. It created a COM6 USB port as explained in the wiki and now everything is correct. I think some versions of windows don't come with that frontloaded. Now I'm wondering, I'd like to edit the wiki to explain that to other people, it's not possible ? Thby Matthieu - Sanguino(lolu)
Holy cow, I found this And looking at my device controller, I have no USB device (COMx) in the Ports (PCT&COM) tree ! Only an ECP printer on LPT1. I suppose it's a driver issue ? Anyone has an idea ?by Matthieu - Sanguino(lolu)
Dear oh dear, I think you're onto something, I went into the preference documentation and indeed the port name is for linux. Yet, changing to COM3 like you said or COM5 as in the documentation was no improvement, also /dev/ttyCOM3 failed (I know it's for LInux, I had nothing to lose ). Is there a place where this thing is explained, or is there a windows user around to explain the tweak? Thaby Matthieu - Sanguino(lolu)
Hi ! Somewhat similar situation here: when openning the reprap software on Windows without anything plugged in, I get the console ending in Native lib Version = RXTX-2.1-7 Java lib Version = RXTX-2.1-7 Error opening port: /dev/ttyUSB0 No changes after I plug the USB/TTL connected to the Motherboard, in order to follow the motherboard checkup procedure, and set CommsDebug to true. Dear Brett and Todd, Just to let you that we have started the cnc process. We'll let you know how it goes. One quick question, to what extend has the Mendel design been changed compare to the original ? Ie can we follow the mendel wiki for everything else than the assembly detailled for Isaac parts ? Are there changes - rod lengths, belts, whatever - not mentionned on the wiki ? Thanks for thby Matthieu - General New Machines Topics
Will you put ebay links on this forum ? I'm interested in a setby Matthieu - For Sale
By the way, does your design includes a cnc-doable holder for the extruder too ?I'm asking because you said you use makerbot extruder, which seems to be out of stock for some time nowby Matthieu - General New Machines Topics
That's great stuuf ! Exactly what we wanted since we haveaccess to a 3d cnc only. We'll try your design !by Matthieu - General New Machines Topics
