Hi RedGuff, ... it's a similar idea as 'painting' with graphite and then electrodepositing copper on the conductive tray. The problem is the poor adhesion of the newly added copper and the surface - it's not stable and will be easy wiped away. AFAIK the best actual solution for this is embedding metallic microparticles or salts in the fabbing material and 'activating' them by laser or per somevon VDX - General
... i think the easiest/cheapest haptic device could be some sort of "joy-string" - a 'stick-in-a-box' where two string-tripods are atached to both ends of a stick. Hi Ann Marie, for 3D-constructing and modelling i mostly use Lightwave (what's more like building with bricks) or 3DSMAX (more playing with additive filters and procedures). Some years ago i tried with a FF-joystick, what's not so really intuitive for modelling - maybe the FF-tripod is better suitable. Hi unfold, ... yes low count slices - look here: for my first approach with my CNC-mill at home. The steel-lom ( ) was press-fitting with the "H"-shaped structure and assembled manually - the 'ceramic green' too. Hi Chris, it's not so easy replicable too - some years ago i made tech-transfer with HarmonicDrive ( ) ... something with developing a microasembly-station exactly for this gearbox (so i have one prototype left from this time) The flex-spline and the gear-rings were made by LIGA with X-ray and galvanics with extremely high surface-accuracies for lowering the outwear. Hi Andy, i have a precise plastic-model as demonstrator for a circular harmonic drive. It works, but has noticeable inherent friction, so you'll receive heavy wear over time in continuous mode. I think you must select the materials of the gears and spline very carefully and need much higher surface-accuracies than the actual reprap-resolutuion ... Viktorvon VDX - Mechanics
Hi unfold, i have some CAD's capable of slicing and STL-output, what's working for single-count sheets with manually rearranging the slices. Hi Chris, for this we'll need a changed software, where the finer details are fabbed on a predefined 3D-surface. Or maybe a bit simpler when only optimizing per thread - ten you have a tray of FFF-PMMA , say 0,5mm thick and then you have to apply the finish with 3D-coating the borders with 5 trays of 0,1mm thickness. But then you'll have a two-head-fabber, so it's capable of supporting geometrvon VDX - Polymer Working Group

Hi Neil, printing wax is an extremely complicated and expensive task. Especially for jewelry apps you need very accurate surfaces so you'll better look for CNC-milling - here you have much better results with cheaper machines as you don't need the rigidities of metal-working.
