Posts kind of like these..... shorted stepper driver by finger? X axis motor not moving under RAMPS 1.4 test firmware This might just be a perception as I noted....

Hi, Looking at the forums it would seem like the RAMPS system is a bit sensitive or fragile. Do you need to handle these electronics "extra" cautiously, or is it just a few isolated issues arising in the forums? It won't change my selection as I already have components, (must wait for x-mass to assemble). Any thoughts... Rich

What's an Amp between friends? - 10 years ago

I have an ATX12V style power supplyavailable, with 6 Amp and 10 Amp rails at 12 volt rating. I have a MK2 PCB hotbed that I plan to used, with RAMPS. The RAMPS 1.4 page says I should have 11 Amps I am only (1) Amp short... I mean, what's 1 Amp between friends? What will happen? If I need a different supply, how accurate must the 12 volt be? Is an unregulated DC supply ok, or is that askin

Can moving steppers damage the RAMPS board/drivers? - 10 years ago

Hi all, I was wondering... I know stepper motors can act as generators. Are the drivers and the board protected from overvoltage via mechanical movement? Richard

SolidWorks will only export geometry (ie step file) to 2007 You can import the STL files from github into 2007 (I think that option was available in 2007) Select the import option to convert to a solid body. Let me know if you have problems.

I have some of the parts of V2 Prusa converted into solidworks ver 2013. Some I converted to parametric, others just STL to body converted imports. I attached a sample of a converted part. I accept no responsibility that this part is correct. I believe that it is as good or better then the stl file, and matches the intended function. I have placed most parts into an assembly. Richard

Yes, I am new to Reprap. Given this world is ever changing, please share your thoughts on the current software tool chain to print. My driver board is Ramps 1.4, My printer is Prusa Mendel V2. Do you use a SD card? Thanks for your thoughts... Richard
